Update
We’ve just updated the game for routine maintenance only. No content changes were included. ^RB
Was just on here looking for the same thing.
Thank you for telling me and providing a link
I’m like whatever, but I don’t get “there were no content changes” but then why did something download and not be used? Odd.
i luv me sum hawt maintenance
files where most ikly added to date file for next weeks update , they use to do it in gw1 alot . files added not triggered yet til a certain time or next update
Just remember whenever you need to know what is going on. Go to Facebook and look, then Twitter, then Reddit, or hope the people from a server the devs decided to have a fireside chat with post about it on the web.
Whatever you do don’t waste your time by pausing to look at that splash area on the launcher cause that would just be a silly place to put information.

Or you could come to the official forums. Right when the update went live there was a notification at the top of my screen saying exactly what the update did. Plus the launcher is there for important information. Most things do get posted there but “routine maintenance” doesn’t really seem all that important to me. At least that’s probably the thinking of Anet.

Facebook, Twitter then Reddit… If only there was a main site dedicated to GW2 where all this information could be posted so people don’t have to go to 3rd party sites to access it… Possibly the official forums. But sadly that’s up to ANet (or whoever posts the information) to decide.
Rant aside, it took me a moment to realise what you said about the Splash area being a silly place and I’d only agree if the user has the ‘auto-start’ feature enabled. During patches (in this case maintenance) where the game needs to download files to update the splash area is visible and all important information should be available from there.
you have to log into the forums to see the splash at all too, someone just coming to this page without logging in will not see it and miss the message totally
Rare for a patch not to include a Mesmer nerf, so I’ll just wait for the confirmation of one ;p.

Some dynamic events that were stuck for a few days now have been “un-freezed”. I’m happy about it!
Part 1/2 of a dynamic duo
The 20 carvings bug wasn’t bugging for me from CoF after patch.
I like how they accidentally boosted dye drops some how, but unless they state it in patch notes it hasn’t changed. (its not even a possibility)
Yeah I am talking about nerf’d drop rates…
Anyhoo.. They probably fixed a hole in the wall, or a minor exploit – that stuff never makes it into patch notes but happens.

When I came here the notification was not there yet. I found out via the 2nd entry on this post what was going on.

Notification of the patch is buried on the sidebar of the forum front page. You know, the one that looks just like the spam ads Internet users have spent years training ourselves to ignore.
Also the patch notice is mixed with other information like the Festival Lionguard and other non-patch information.
I don’t see why ArenaNet doesn’t organizethis kind of information in forum called ‘Patch Notes’ with stickies that are posted each time there is one? Other MMOs do it.

Agreed 100% Customers shouldn’t be fishing around various sites for information. People know that if they want information about a product you go to the company’s official website, not a Twitter feed.
If ArenaNet wants to play the social media game instead of using their official website to convey information then they should be ready to post patch update notices on ALL of those social sites (It would take what, 5 minutes to do on Twitter, Reddit and Facebook?)
ArenaNet has always had problems with communication, this is just another example.

Assuming the patch notice isn’t pushed out by other announcements on the Splash page the same way it’s buried with other info on the forum front page spam-ad announcement section.

Roll an engineer, then come complain
I have noticed a drastic drop in the rate of ecto salvaging. Also, IMO the TP price of them is confirmation of this as well.
Anyone else notice this?

Apparently there was another bot ban wave so that’s why ectos are raising I guess. Same with T6 mats. Ecto salvage is luck anyways. I just got 3 with a master’s salvage kit.
Given that the maintenance build happened a couple days ago, this thread is no longer relevant. This thread will be closed.
