Upgrade Extractor is horrible
Use a black lion salvage kit. It destroys the item but gives you your upgrade plus other materials. There is almost nothing in the game that is cost effective to use an extractor on. Keep in mind that you cannot salvage karma gear so I advise against using expensive upgrades on those items.

Unless you need to remove a sigil of generosity or other (omni) (agony) infusions above 28 gold? or if the combine cost exceed the amount of gems spend…
Else it’s useless.

Wvw Gear needs an unlimited version that can be used on only wvw gear maybe, or they could just let wvw gear be salvaged.
While Dungeon runners and Crafters can easily salvage their runes as they upgrade gear or change specs WvW players are forced to permanently lose runes by slotting them sans this item. Which is sad as because wvw has the most viable gear choices where as most pve players agree its Zerker or go home.
You never buy WVW armor… as it cannot be salvaged.. When the meta shifts you can only press destroy… I only buy siege and traps, and craft my own metal.

No reason dungeon gear/armor can and WvW can’t.
The restriction needs to go.

For those with limited play times and chose to use that time on WVW that isnt really an option.
And some gear you cant use kits on so yeah kinda lame this item is overpriced…
