For quite some time now I have been upgrading my masterworks to rares and my rares to exotics. I’m not sure if this theory is all in my head or what, but I have been able to reliably upgrade what I want. Let me explain:

Even though each forge is supposed to be an independent occurrence, I have noticed with reliable predictability, my chances of upgrading seem to become much higher after a long string of failures (non upgrades). It is for that reason that I use forge fodder.

For example I will throw in a bunch of low value items in an attempt to get a long string of failures. After I achieve that, then I will throw in what I really want upgraded.

Now I understand this might all be in my head, but out of my last 17 combines of rares in the mf, I have returned 13 exotics.

I have only recently started to keep track of my attempts, so I don’t have much hard data to go on, but have been doing this for while though with pretty reliable success.

Anyways, if any of you decide to try this, I hope it pans out for you as well as it does for me.

I can’t recall ever getting 2 rares in a row from throwing masterworks
but I know I’ve had times where I got 1 rare, then 1 masterwork, then 1 rare.
it does seem somewhat evenly spaced, but not entirely.

Best I’ve gotten is 3 in a row but that was 2 on one character then 1 on another.
