As of right now Mini Pets are just a collectable. Are there any plans to have them for another reason (Mini Pet Battles)? I am sure many of you have seen the arena for Mini Pets in Lion Arch. Is this arena there as a hint for future things? If a Dev. can give some info on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Devs very rarely answer topics and it’s even less likely now when most of them are probably taking a lot of time off for Christmas and New Year.

But I’ve never heard of any plans for minis to be anything other than a collectable and possibly used in an arena mini-game.

They definitely planned a polymock and /or minipet battle minigame at some point, as well as a racing mini game in LA. With how they are pumping out holiday content, I’m not sure they will be able to start working on features that didn’t make the timeline until after April 2013. We get one balance/WvW update in Jan/Feb, then probably some Valentines stuff, after which they need their resources to hide chocolate eggs for Easter.

I doubt they’ll ever be more than just collectibles. Mini pets were the same thing in GW1, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they stayed that way now in GW2
