I miss the days of map chat, as it was in the 3 day head start and a few days into launch. People were helpful and conversations were real and enjoyable. Each week the maturity level has nose dived and a lot of people, myself included, are turned off by most of the childish crap.

Don’t dismiss map chat. Use it to your advantage. How many of these morons would you want to party with? None. Therein lies the advantage. Block them. No need to argue with them. Just block them and move one step closer to a better dungeon run in the future…

Never argue with an idiot. They’ll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Soon there will be a big mop that will give map chat a good cleaning.

I tried the other night to find a CoF story group and was blocked from map chat for posting too much (which I really didn’t feel was too much – once a minute maybe?)

sadface =(

I no longer keep map chat active. It insults my brain to endure the nonstop idiocy that occurs in most zones. Lion’s Arch is intolerable.

It’s unfortunate because I like to answer decent questions for people and like to report idiots.

IMO, this game needs something like the chat limits En Masse put in Tera, where they specifically said they don’t want to duplicate barrens chat. I know I don’t want to endure barrens/trade chat in other games no more than I wanted to suffer thru it in WoW. Basically they just put a timer in so that people couldn’t spam or yap incessantly.

Hmm, honestly.. I “block” anyone that says::
Yolo
wow is better
no end game
this game is too hard
jumping puzzles are stupid
ect…

Reason is simple enough.. if you DO NOT LIKE GW2, then why would I want to group with you?

As the OP stated, use chat to your advantage.

Btw, for those that dont know.

Yolo = You only live once.
~ is usually associated with you doing something ignorant. (IE: I’m drunk af going 120, drifting corners #F*** It YOLO).

You have to change the “nature” of what you’re typing. If you type LF1M or LFG multiple times, it will block you…but only for those types of message. I usually just change it up:

LF2M Arah SM
LF2M Arah SM
LF2M Arah SM <blocked>
Need two people for Arah storymode
Need two people for Arah storymode
Need two people for Arah storymode <blocked>

Don’t need it in PvE. I keep it disabled to avoid spoilers and not having to read senseless drivel from attention prostituting players. The UI gives me enough information if I feel I need some direction as to where I should go.

I just report and/or block players who need it without hesitation. I use map chat for real reasons, and I have no interest in sharing it with morons.
