The ability to use an entire stack of items in one go would be a welcome addition for many players in the game. Having to double click a full stack of items to use them is annoying. If ANet could add a Use All in addition to Use on the right click context menu that would be great.

This request presumes the requisite programming is not overly difficult and relatively minor.

This was proposed along with batch buying by several people, including me, in the always ignored suggestion forum. This became very apparent to me the moment I had to buy 3750 cupcakes…..

THATS 7500 CLICKS!!!!

Simple pseudo-javascript version:
for (var i=1; i>contextStack.size) { doubleClick(contextStack(i)) }
It says double click each item in the stack you right clicked on. There would have to be checks and balances for bags that have inventory stuff in them and boosters that you wouldn’t necessarily want to eat all at once, etc.

I can’t say it would be hard to implement but it would take time to test and q&a.

This idea has come up many times before, and it is a good one. Unfortunately, since it has never received any sort of official acknowledgement, one can only assume that things are working as intended, and that the purpose for the feature not existing is to slow down player interactions with the game/make certain activities intentionally inconvenient.

There are, however, workarounds that you can use without violating the rules regarding automated activity. For example, bind the “click” action to a button on your computer that is easier to press repeatedly than the left mouse button. The mouse wheel is a popular choice.

A use all button would basically work like a double click macro, opening the stack 1 at a time until your inventory was full. Imagine the chaos it would create if it opened all the bags at once and popped up with a loot window, where if you were unable to claim all the loot, it would disappear in a few minutes.

Considering it would effectively be a macro, it would be a low priority feature because… you could just use a macro. I highly doubt they’d ever ban someone over opening bags with macro because: see how many people were banned in Gw1 for that reason.

I’m guessing it has something to do with loot psychology. They have a very firmly implanted gambling reward system in this game. So much randomness. You probably get more “endorphin” having to click the loot box 88 times instead of clicking once.

Think of it like a poker machine. The enjoyment comes from pulling the lever over and over. If you could just insert $1000 and pull the lever once (and lose your money) it wouldn’t feel that great. But if you insert $2 and pull the lever five hundred times, at least each time you feel like there’s a chance you can win, and there’s the anticipation.

They want us to keep playing, they want us to keep buying Keys from the gem store, so they will leave it at click-per-open.

LOL, all the clicking in this game has worked two mice to death already, working with mouse number three and hoping that feeding it more cheese will help extend this ones life.

To get the alcohol title you have to consume 100,000 alcohol. The most dense alcohol I could buy with karma was 4 points each. Highlight the alcohol, press ‘buy’ one time each, 25,000 clicks. To consume the alcohol, double click each alcohol, 50,000 more clicks.

Anet likely didn’t want to remove the armor stats entirely because…well,
we’ve all seen what happens in games where there’s no disadvantage to taking your pants off.

It’s really insane the amount of clicking you need to do in this game. I’ve actually started to have a frequent / persistent pain in my right hand since this game came out. Now maybe it’s due to just being a heavy computer user for so many years, but I think it’s reasonable to say this very unreasonable amount of clicking here has not helped matters. When I’m looking at a particularly large amount (recent example, 50-100 alliance supply bags), I have to keep switching hands to get through it. It’s boring, needlessly time-consuming, ..and for some of us physically painful.

WHY would they have introduced items that stack into the hundreds and every kitten one of them needs to be DOUBLE clicked?! Are they sadistic or did they really just not give it any thought? It’s not like this would be a terribly difficult issue and it “had to be this way”. I love stacking ..the more the better. But don’t just leave it at that. If you’re going to have big stacks, you need to have a way to use more than one at a time. You can craft in bulk ..just getting it going and wait for it to finish ..and it stops if your inventory gets full. WHY should opening a huge stack of bags not work the same?

Anet, please answer and tell us your thoughts on this issue (you won’t of course ).

I dont understand why they haven’t done this yet when they keep adding events that spam bags at you. Current event requires me to open 100-200 bags every run. 200-400 rapid clicks. It’s annoying. When Lettuce-head opens her 15+ stacks of bags that’ll be over 3000 mouse clicks and her hand is probably going to explode on video and she will die.

I can understand it for consumables, like alcohol, but not bags. Each of those not only has a change to fill an inventory slot, as Voltaire pointed out, but they have to go through the RNG to see what they will give. Doing 250 at once can’t healthy for the RNG.

This is one of those quality of life things that just HAS to be implemented. Yes it will be a lot of work and take some time but in the end it will be well worth it for everyone.

They can work it to stop opening bags and such as soon as your bag becomes full. It already works like this when you try and craft x amount of items and your bag fills up. Wouldn’t be that much different in the programming I should imagine.
