It is certainly annoying to greet a random NPC at the LA Bank when you want to interact with the banker after pressing F. What is a villager or Owl Shaman doing at the bank? Can the developers alter the walking paths of these useless NPC so that we players can easily interact with the right NPCs?

Yep. The new Lion’s Arch is beautiful but its layout is already (for me at least) so counter intuitive…add in the fact that 9 chances out of 10 hitting F gets me some random npc who then stands on the banker so that its even harder to click on the banker… ugh.

I fairly regularly avoid LA and go to Divinity’s Reach where the bank and the trading post are right next to each other along with a waypoint and a merchant within about 10 steps.

I suggest opposite:
*increase number of npcs using npcs’ services,
*give them lines: if you have problem with me, go to other city or wait quietly in queue or choose other spot that we won’t interact with each other, but you didn’t come up with that idea, right?.

How rude…. that NPC has been standing in line for 3 years just to get service. And you just rudely waltz in and cut in line.

I have had this gripe since launch. More often than necessary, I wind up interacting with a useless NPC at the Divinity’s Reach and Hoelbrak banks instead of the bankers themselves.

The solution isn’t to take them away; they provide “flavor”. What needs to happen is to make them unclickable, so we can’t interact with them at all. (Heck, the majority of the NPCs in the world have nothing to say to us anyway).

  • NPCs standing around next to “important” NPCs (the guys we need to interact with) should be disabled so that we can’t select them.
  • NPCs that move around should have their paths altered so that they never wander into an important NPC’s sphere of influence.

Arenanet seems to like this. The new LA is filled with intruding NPCs. Even the mystic forge isn’t safe.

I’ve found that if I go to the Asura banker on the far side from the Forge, I don’t get any interfering NPC’s. It’d be better if they didn’t get in the way at all — it’s not like we can tell they are there amongst the crowd of players — but at least there is a clear spot.

It’s very obvious that in order to make Lion’s Arch profitable and running due to the poor economy and all that rebuilding effort was to gentrify it and turn it into a tourist trap. So tourists will come admire the beauty while being ripped off by shady vendors like the Miyani-Zommoros racket while life becomes more inconvenient for the locals causing them to move onto other locations that provide a better lifestyle like Divinity’s Reach and Rata Sum. As the lower class citizens leave, the property will be bought up by the rich landowners and the situation will become more pronounced as Lion’s Arch becomes even more beautiful yet even less functional, and pretty soon you will have to pay for waypoints and other infrastructure because you find out Kiel’s been secretly spending the money on Asuran crack and it’s already too late because she’s broke and has nothing to pay back.

We await the next chapter in the amazing Lion’s Arch saga when the forces of Walmart come to make their presence in Lion’s Arch felt.

when there’s not a ton of players around, the new LA seems far more empty than the old one. I’d prefer a lot more NPCs walking around, maybe without the option to interact on every one of them.

So you want to remove immersion?

I don’t have to tap people on the head IRL to talk to them. Prioritizing in-game interactions correctly (or moving some NPCs to prevent undesired interactions due to UI/game design issues) would help immersion, not remove it.

either not have npc’s that can be interacted with near banks etc or have priority of talk over other options. I have always been annoyed by this.

That more of an issue with it being a video game and not being real life. It can be kind of annoying but its nothing in the scale of things when you can get truly random npc talking with each other that you never head before.

LA seems pre-designed to be a ghost town. I grew to like the design style just as I realized there’s no reason to go there.

Easy fix? Put 3-5 “Accountancy Waypoint” style areas in different spots in town, like the Forge. Why would anyone in their right mind run from the Forge to the Bank to the BLTC in LA? It’s an artificial time sink.

Until then, it’s useless beyond different Forge scenery & arguable the Skritt vendor.

It funny people say it farther apart of everything where I feel everything is nice and close to the wp in lionarch. It my fav place to keep my bank character. She got easy access to the trading post and the the bank, and close to a merchant, the crafting tables and it a quick hop to the guildbank, and best of all, forge and a speed booster who all you have to do is click, and technically not talk to.
Forge even better with that since everything shared with the forge points for buying.

So you want to remove immersion?

Wanting any form of immersion is mutually exclusive with not wanting a few NPCs getting in your way? I’m pretty good with not accidentally talking to people in real life. This is more unrealistic.

But if you’re referring to this particular instance of immersion, then yes, QoL takes precedence due to this being a video game.

Same thing happens at the bank and trading post in the Black Citidel. It’s super annoying having to move around to get the interact to pop up for the bank/TP NPC and sometimes I have to actually click on the NPC to use their services.

Have you ever thought of moving closer to the NPC you want to interact with? I don’t have an issue when I stand right next to them, nor have I had one since the LA went live, only when I tried to stand far away from them(but inside the interact radius).
