So we will be able to share ascended armor between our characters now. This is great.

But what if that armor is skinned with t3 cultural armor? Do I have to use 6 charges just to wear that armor on another character of a different race? And then again 6 charges to wear it on the original character and reskin it to t3 cultural armor?

Logically speaking I’d say yes. There’s no way you can where cultural armour on a different race (there literally isn’t an implementation of it, i.e. the nude glitch in which you could equip cultural armour on the wrong race).

So the accomplishment of acquiring t3 armor effectively locks out all your other characters from wearing that (ascended) armor? Unless of course you’re willing to spend 6 charges every time?

Perhaps moving Ascended armour to another alt should (or will) automatically reset it’s skin.

Transferable Ascended gear is, after all, a massive convenience for the player as it is.

… Convenience only goes so far, the alternative is that ANet start punishing those with multiple T3 armour sets, or alternatively make it so that there is no point to having more than one T3 armour set.

This hasn’t been announced, so maybe or maybe not.

Will people next ask that all classes can now use all weapons, since their Twighlight is now accountbound, and so all other chars should now have the right to use it ?

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

People can just never stop complaining.

Hmm, one solution to this could be to simply change the skin of the armour, if it’s of a different race as the base, to the proper cultural tier of the new race. So if your Human Thief is using T3 Cultural on the Ascended armour, you can swap it to a Charr Engineer and the appearance will change to Charr T3 Cultural, and swap to Human T3 Cultural when equipped by a human. Likely not the best solution, but about the best idea I’ve got so far.

Asking questions = complaining??

Indeed an interesting question TS, what if you want to share a t3 human skinned ascended armor set between a charr & human?

They should’ve made skins & armors separate like that of town clothes. But this will ruin their transmutation charges in gemstore.

If they made it so transmuting a skin equips it to a special slot, rather than overwriting the item’s appearance, that would fix this problem as well as allow you to keep an appearance regardless of what you equip. They have the tech to do this, considering they have override slots in PvP as well as the outfit slot.

Thats the problem. They still need some way to earn money, as evil as it is

I also hated the system already in AION where items also had to be transmuted, while in EQ2 we had just extra outfit slots. On the other hand everything in EQ2 was also soulbound so you had to get the skins for every character, and most better skins were in the end Dungeon/Raid Armor that was even soulbound on pickup, so now way to buy that anywhere.

Then you will be able to move it to another alt of the same race and armor weight class. So, if you have a human warrior and guardian, you are golden. If you have a norn warrior and charr guardian… well, then it;s the same as if you tried to move it from guardian to elementalist – just can’t be done.

And no, after a Flamekissed debacle i don’t see Anet budging on this principle.

Actions, not words.
