Q:

I’m not entirely sure where this question/thread should be put. Anyways, I have excess karma on some of my characters and have no real use for it. Recently I noticed that you can put weapons bought with karma into the mystic forge and transmute them into same tier or higher tier weapons.

The question is:
Is it considered a bug/exploit that you can put green weapons bought with karma into the mystic forge and create unsoulbound rare/green weapons OR is it considered to work as intended?

Could we please get an official stance on whether it is an exploit or not? (I didn’t find any threads with the search function that answered this question)

Edit: And as to clarify I’m talking about buying the ~1k karma green lvl 80 weapons and tossing them into mystic forge.

Why would it be considered an exploit? After all you’re paying what? 63k Karma per weapon? Not exactly a Steal.

I’m assuming he’s talking about the cheaper stuff from karma vendors. Like 300-800 karma ones.

Consider the fiasco around launch time with the mis-priced karma weapons. ArenaNet considered it an exploit, but not that the forge was being used. Rather the exploit was people got so many of the weapons and converted to make oodles of gold for very little karma.

The fix was to change the price of the weapons, not to bar use of the mystic forge for upgrading things (cuz that’s half its function).
