Which one to pick? With all the new changes to magic find I am not sure. More magic find could increase my chance to find luck, which leads to even more magic find. I also salvage EVERYTHING I don’t want. So what do you think?

Legendary find will be better they should make ultra hard boss drop legendary gears so that we don’t need to waste time crafting

I have gold find, but that’s just because adding +20% to every coin drop adds up in the long run. It is also directly noticeable. 20% MF might be nice, but if you’re not lucky you don’t get anything.

If I can’t play Guild Wars 2 at work, I won’t work in Guild Wars 2 either.

It goes without saying that over a period of time gold find would have a cumulative benefit but the fact of the matter is that not every mob drops cash and when they do it’s a paultry sum. Getting 20% of a couple silver is nothing. Gold find only relates to coin dropped from mobs.

On the other hand, many prices have been very stable for months, so gold find is rather useful.

And how is more gold bad when stuff costs more gold? That’s backwards logic.

So what I am hearing is…don’t get magic find. Which I guess is strange to me cause I would think if “The price of items are going up” then I would want better chances at better items. Not to mention since I never run dungeons you wouldn’t think gold find would be worth it. But I really shouldn’t get it, even considering it increases my chances of finding luck which keeps on stacking up the magic find? Just a counter-argument, I still haven’t made up my mind.

20%? I use the MF infusion. That’s a 20% that might trigger a drop that makes a 20% gold increase look like a joke. And that’s gold (copper) from just monsters, right? The straight pick-up loot, not from chests or anything. Try watching what comes up in the loot rolling up the right of the screen for a day or two :P

Well first, as said above the lower the value of gold the lower the value of % gold because the gold drops are a fixed amount.

Anyway the way I look at it, if you farmed for an hour and got like 1 gold from drops, that would’ve been an extra 20 silver from the 20% gold find. If you got like 3 rare drops worth a total of like 1g, that 20% MF is roughly about 20 silver as well, and I think it also factors in for greens/blues.

Since the way I believe it works, and based on my drop rates with and w/o MF, I think it’s basically like : if you have 100% magic find and a 1% drop rate for rares, then you get a 2% drop rate, which means if you loot an average of 1 rare an hour that’s now 2 rares an hour, a 100% increase, so if you would get 3 rares and hour 20% extra MF would be roughly worth 20% of 3 rares, or 60% of 1 rare, somewhat.

I’d say MF, has more potential in the future as an investment too /shrug.

Fun fact, MF caps at 300%. Making the infusion useless at that point. Go with gold find.

Yeah! it might be worthless after a few more days…

Tell you what, if you still can’t decide, just get a 126 +5 pwr amulet and kill faster. More kills = more drops & gold.

Isn’t it only the magic find from magic bar (Essences of Luck) that is capped at 300%? Even if all of your MF is capped at 300% will take months if not years to get 300% MF.

Sorry for my english.

I’ve been mulling this too – I held off on buying a utility infusion before the recent MF patch changes, but as it turns out, they didn’t help with my decision at all (MF utility is still there). I think I’m leaning toward MF myself, because mob gold drops seem pretty paltry.

Have you got a source for that?
