I hope we get this on the western servers and not only Chinese servers. VIP would be really good here as well. Some people want to pay monthly rather than buying gems. The bonuses you get for it looks really worth it imo.

Doesn’t matter what we or the developers want, the payment and subscription model isn’t decided democratically. Business is business, and if it proves profitable, attempts will be made to force it on the game from above.

What matters then is how organized, vocal and broad the opposition is, otherwise it will be implemented, people will adapat and subscribe and it will be impossible to remove once implemented.

So, if it proves successful in the East, expect it in the West, for better and worse .

You misread it too. You’d still buy gems on top of paying monthly, they’d just discount amount needed in gemstore …… That is if they don’t pull what they did with the inf gathering tools on us.

No it won’t be on the western server (that’s a fact until proven otherwise). And I’m very glad this is the case. Guild Wars 2 should be free of any subscription fees.

It is free, but you can chose if you want to pay for VIP or not. You will only get bonuses if you do, if you don’t, you play like normal.

I do not like the idea of creating this official elite of wealthy people inside the game at all. I understand that not all may feel this way, but I believe some people do. In fact, in the other thread most seemed to think it was not a good thing. the reply there reassured me, but this thread is now filling my heart with fear again.

You can already P2W. There is the black market where you can buy anything at the risk of getting banned (which I doesn’t seem very high judging by the amount of people I seem getting away with it). You can also buy strenth, regen, speed boosters from the gem store. You can also buy a bunch of gems and trade them for gold and buy most of the crafting mats for ascended if you want to spend a lot of money.

I wouldn’t make your expectations too high. SOE hasn’t been doing well with their games or business models in the last 6 years.
