Hello,

im looking to use up a stack of dungeon armor boxes I have by trying out condition builds for some characters – I know people mostly just use Vipers these days if they are raiding but this is just to try out some builds in Pve and possibly WvW on the cheap…

From what I gather only the following are considered to have usable Condition builds:
Necro
Ranger
Warrior
Engineer
Ele?

And only these stats can be obtained from Dungeons:
Rampagers
Rabid
Dire
Carrion
Shaman

I cant find any suggested gear for builds that doesn’t just default to Rabid or poor mans version Sinister – do any of the above stats have any traction with the classes I mention? Are there classes that can also use Condition? Its just for seeing how I find condition really so im not fussed about being fantastic dps…my Necro also has a Sinister set so she is ready to go.

Many Thanks!

From past experience I’ve found that Carrion works very well for Necro (peanut butter and jelly, I know). I’ve also used Shaman with Ranger, but I’m not the greatest Ranger player so I can’t really tell you how well it works. Seemed fine to me.

condi engi isn’t bad with rampager. I still use it on one of mine and it plays fine.

Dire was at some point used for WvW. Not sure if it’s still valid or not though.
And ele condi builds were never more than a curiosity in the past. I doubt there is any sensible one now. On the other hand, there are condi builds for mesmers (pvp mostly) and revenant should still have some as well.

It is still used in wvw. Those who can afford the price of lilies usually go trailblazer’s.

for pve I’d personally go with something like this:
necro http://bit.ly/2cSW5VI
ranger http://bit.ly/2cJO690
engi http://bit.ly/2ciku7i
ele http://bit.ly/2cB3wPG
all those are a bit hastily put together with not that much testing, just there to give you some ideas/guidance;
generally I believe rabid offers the best option for condi damage, with the exception of engi that has so many traits based off crit (firearms traitline) that justify rampager
I can’t come up with a good vanilla warrior build and I’m not sure how viable it could be
for wvw as it’s been stated, dire is a good option and imo is broken xD provides all the tankiness you can have with all the dps you can have for condi
hope this helps

It depend on what trigger your condis. I dont want my engineer with anything less than 50% critrate for example.

I was asking about Warrior because I heard some vague talk about Guardian and Warrior maybe having a fun condition build but I haven’t really found out more…

That ele build is going to melt in WvW. There is no sustain at all. I’d go for something more like this if based on condition:

Exotic Armor:

The drawback is the healing which can be changed of course.

Edit: Earth Shield is great for defense and bleeding damage. Best way to use it is while attuned to earth, which with this build, will buff the stats to aprox. 3000 Armor and 21k HP.

Guardian Commander
Thief / Mesmer / Elementalist / Warrior / Necromancer / Ranger / Engineer / Revenant
Crystal Desert – Eredon Terrace – Fort Aspenwood – Stormbluff Isle

You can always go to silverwastes and get sinister gear.

For all I would recommend Rabid out of the stats you listed because it has condi damage as the main stat and precision as well. Most condi builds have some sort of condi on crit aspect to them. If you can switch out for sinister, that is more dps.

A good default rune set is 4x nightmare runes and 2x trapper runes to get you some condi duration without vipers.

Below is a summary of the classes you listed in regards to traits and what they lose going vanilla instead of HoT so you can make a judgement about what you want to play.

Necro – Great condi damage and can be really fun to play. By going vanilla, you’re losing some key things that will lower your damage, but it will still be fine in dungeons and open world. You lose the 5 > 4 combo in reaper shroud that stacks lots of chill and thus bleed. You lose the trait that converts chills into bleeds. You could go with krait runes to focus on bleeds.

Ranger – You lose nothing by going vanilla. See http://qtfy.enjin.com/ranger#Gear5 for optimal setup and change the armor/weapons to fit your requirements.

Warrior – You lose a ton by going vanilla. Most of the damage comes from longbow primal burst, which you won’t have. Also, this build is mostly used in group scenarios like raids where might generation is critical, and isn’t necessarily the best for solo play.

Engi – Meta condi engis don’t run scrapper, so you lose nothing. See http://qtfy.enjin.com/engineer#Gear1 for meta build and adjust gear as needed. Nightmare/trapper runes are probably good to get duration up. I suggest watching videos of the rotation to get an idea before investing in gear. People either love it or hate it because it is very involved.

Ele – I’ve never seen this played, so I can’t give any meaningful insight. I think it is generally lower dps than other condi, but might be fun to play. Here is a fun thing you could look into if you want: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPKnSjhdl7U

Hope this helps!

Why is sinister excluded when it came well before HoT? Or are you limiting yourself to armor that can be obtained in dungeons only?

Don’t forget you can get easy gear from the Temple vendors with Karma in Orr. They have Rabid and Rampagers there which, assuming you have a lot of Karma and nothing to spend it on, is an instant way to get some gear. Or you can also get some acccessories, backpieces, etc. from those vendors.
