I think ascended gear and weapons should have variable stats, so that when you do Tequatl or wvwvw you can change the stats and do not need to craft extra sets.

That..wont happen, sorry. Little to late now that theyve added in Multiple sets of weapons with various looks. Armor…maybe, but maybe when they add in legendary armor!

Why? all crafted ascended use same skins, and the other skins for ascended are well drops… so you get them for the skins 90% of the time, just like a lot of other items in the game. And i am pretty sure the majority of people dont even use the ascended skins on many if any of their characters.

To be honest imo ascended should be same stat amount as exotic, but then allow you to swap stats as needed on it, would still be very useful but not fell as forced to get it then, but still be a major benefit to have it (also remember it is accountbound even after equipped too)

It won’t happen because their time gated ascended grind is meant to waste your time and gold. They want you to make more than one set.

They use the same skin, yes but different colors, and youd be surprised i guess but i see a fair number of players running around with Ascended items as the skin. I personally find most of them ugly, but hey to each their own. Considering that Legendaries can change stats, your best bet would be to ask for legendary armor instead of asking for swappable stats on Ascended items. Thats one of the biggest reasons im crafting my legendary weapons right now, i can swap stats. Its one of the perks of legendaries.

Its also highly unlikely that after what, a year and a half, or was it maybe two years? Of ascended items having higher stats that they will suddenly make them the same level as exotics. Ascended stats are here to stay, thank goodness. Id probably stop playing, and im sure others would as well, if they changed that, to much time, and money invested to have it taken away suddenly. Sure the stat bonus isnt much, but at the same time, its one of the only reasons to craft them outside of fractals(Which i do).

Edit: it would have been nice if ascended had never been added, but its to late now, to do anything about it.

Anet also wants you to spend time crafting those ascended items, its part of the reason they are time gated, they want you to have to spend days crafting multiple sets if you want more than one stat.

i disagree with free stat swapping, but maybe the possibility of changing your stats via crafting/something that would cost you ~15g. so if you really want to change stats, you can without spending the ~75g it costs. only problem I see is unlocking all the skins for relatively cheap.

Druid main, 80 on all, Legendary ranked, Eternal and all that jazz (I go by Feyris in game)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Legendary!
Legendary weapons can already swap stats and has equal stats to ascended, so just give us legendary armour as well, maybe even legendary trinkets.

An idea i alwase have thought of was for example you had one asc weap with soldier stats you would only have that stat, but if you then later desided to craft a berserker stat weap you could change between the two. i would mean that you stilll had to craft the different weapons with different stats, but when you finally got them you could change stat between them. btw sry for my english not my native language.

Well, luckily you do not need Ascended armor for Tequatl. Like even a little bit.

So simplest solution is a set of exotic for running Teq/Wurm, and Ascended for WvW.

Exotic takes no time at all to get.

I won’t stop because I can’t stop.

Legendary Armor

What if Ascended Armor were the Precursor for Legendary Armor?

That way, if you already made some Ascended armor you could use that to be the base to make Legendary Armor and thus have armor with variable/changeable stats without wasting the exorbitant amount of time you invested in Ascended.

Vertical Progression would not rear its ugly head as your Legendary Armor is no more or less powerful than an Ascended piece, it just has a bit more variety. Well and a shiny new skin of course.

A similar idea was posted a year and a half ago in reference to Legacy items(quoted for reference).

that would make sense if u asked for legendary armors since legendaries are the ones where stats can be changed…

I know why they won’t give that to us, even if I personally agree with you: given that option, people will stop grind for extra alt sets —→ less “play” time --→ less gems sell. It’s a nice idea, but your best bet is to get your legendaries.

What on earth are you talking about? In Gw1 we didnt have stats like we do in GW2. You could change your weapons and armors: Inscriptions, Runes, Insignias, which i guess could count as stats, but you can do that here as well, Sigils, Medallions and Runes. They where things added to the armor to make it better(If you could afford it, way better), which i guess we have in this game as well.

One thing that rarely, if ever, gets mentioned in ascended stat swapping threads.
Which T6 mat gets used?

For beserker, you need powerful blood to craft the beserker insignia/inscription and multiple of those to craft the ascended version.
So fi I was going to craft ascended, that was stat swappable, why would I pick the mats/prefix with the highest cost? (i.e. Powerful Blood). Why wouldn’t I just use Powerful Venom sacs? They are the cheapest of the T6.
But then what happens to the T6 market? (And subsequently the T5, rare/exotics/legendary/etc. markets?)

It would have a dramatic impact on the economy just doing that. Even changing the recipe itself would do that.
No. Ascended level gear should not be stat swappable. Reserve that for legendaries, weapons and armor if introduced)
