Since the Suggestion Subforums are locked, as I’ve just discovered, I guess I’ll post here under General GW2 Discussions. This would’ve been better off in the Suggestion Subforums. But… Oh well.

(1) Option to Disable Auto-Weapon Stow:
Sometimes I like to just keep my weapon out, when standing idle or running/walking to places. ATM, if I want to achieve the same effect I’d have to keep hitting a skill every 30 seconds. Pretty much not worth doing unless that’s all you care about, but would be nice if auto-stowing weapons became optional. If this was an option, I don’t know how anyone would disagree with this, because if a player doesn’t want that for their character, they can turn on the Auto-Stow, which is on by default anyway.

(2) Preview Instance:
A private instance in which you can access, wear and stand/run/walk around with any gear. I’d go so far as to suggest allow the player to wear any weight armor, light/medium/heavy, simply for the sake of allowing players to see how that armor looks like on their current character’s race/gender. However, do not allow for previewing mixed armor weights because that isn’t an option in the game currently; the idea would be nice, but I can see why people would complain about mixing up armor types. Also, it should obviously prevent you from previewing culturally specific armor that is outside your character’s race, since cross-cultural armor wearing isn’t an option in the game, currently.

If such a thing were to be implemented, inviting friends to come into the instance with you would be nice, if they wanted to see your outfit, but not necessarily the main point of this suggestion.

As for weapon previewing, it should probably be limited to what your current character’s class can wield. Although I can see a way to preview a weapon your class can’t wield —-if you wanted to preview it for reference, you can, but it would only have a basic auto-attack on it (or even allow a selection of weapon skills set from the various classes, like choosing Warrior, Guardian, Mesmer for the GS).

The point of this Preview Instance suggestion is to allow players to see how their characters look in real time, rather than a preview window that can sometimes look misleading or not even informative enough for a player to make a proper decision. Although, I think part of the reason why something like this hasn’t already been implemented is because ANET likes players to make “mistakes” or regrettable decisions in their armor/weapon customization so they can buy more Transmutation Crystals and the other various transmutation gem store items.

The ability to preview any armor and weapon (in real time) would be extremely helpful, especially if a player is still deciding on whether or not they want to craft/buy a legendary. There can also be an option to change the lighting type in the instance: Ascalon, Krytan, Maguuma Jungle, Shiverpeaks and Orr lighting, with both Day and Night alternatives. Of course, this instance is only for previewing in real time, so a player do not actually acquire these items, outside of the preview instance.

Ideally, from a player’s perspective this service should be free, and would become an extremely helpful tool. It should be an account-wide icon/button in the top left corner, where the Trading Post, Guild options are.

However, for the sake of implementation, I can see how ANET would like to generate gem sales from this. They could sell an ACCOUNT-WIDE upgrade for like 1000 gems to have that option appear in the top left corner. This would mean that all your characters are able to access the Preview Instance. This would provide further significance for allowing friends to join you in this instance, because it wouldn’t readily be available to everyone, only those that paid for it. And although I’d love to allow my friends to use this service as well, I can see how this would limit gem sales if a player can just ask a friend to go into his Preview Instance. Therefore I don’t think it should allow friends to preview items on their own characters, but only see your character wear stuff if the instance belongs to you.

Again though, previewing stuff is already free, although limited in its current state; you can’t even see dual wielding, or combat stance with weapons ATM. Ideally, if would be nice if this feature, if it ever happened, came free —but I am (personally) willing to pay an “acceptable” amount for it. This feature being a button in the top left corner, and not some account wide item that you have to keep transferring to alts.

EDIT: Obviously all dyes should be available in this Instance, since dyes are an essential part of customizing your outfit.

(3) Fix shrinking / growing weapons:
This is most prevalent, IMO, on Asuras. When you stow their weapon it shrinks. When you draw their weapon it grows. I know that the weapon sizes are probably based off their torso or something, but at least have it remain consistent. The inconsistent weapon sizes makes me hate playing Asura because it completely feels wrong and nonsensical as to why the weapon “randomly” enlarges when in combat. The only real weapon skins that can almost bypass this effect are the Zenith skins, because they are designed to condense to a more compact state, but I’m getting kind-of tired of them already. I think this weapon size inconsistency can also be seen on the larger races like Norn and Charr max size, as the weapons will become immense when drawn.

(4) (Not particularly a big deal, but annoying) Equipping Weapons into BOTH Weapons Sets 1 and 2 (via double click):
When reorganizing which weapons to equip, and you have no weapons equipped: You equip weapon A in the top (or bottom) Weapon Set, then you double click to equip weapon B, it replaces Weapon A in the SAME Weapon Set.

With no weapons equipped, and you double click to equip your first weapon, it seems to alternate between the top and bottom Weapon Sets; this isn’t really the issue, but seems weird this way. — Try equipping a GS (via double click). Unequip it. Double click it again, and you’ll see it alternated from its last Weapon Set.

The issue is that with no weapons equipped, and you want to equip, for example, on a warrior: a GS and a sword/shield, you can double click the GS first. It goes in either the top or bottom Weapon Set. Then you double click the sword/shield, it automatically goes into the same Weapon Set, replacing the GS. It’s a minor issue, forcing you to drag and drop to manually equip, but it can be annoying.

(5) Related to the previous issue- Option to mark individual pieces of equipment as “Current A——rsenal.”: (the dashes are necessary because the filter would make it kitten nal, as you’ll see in the following)
The main issue this is trying to solve is that when trying to equip a 2-Handed Weapon into Weapon Set 1 (top set), while you already have two 1-Handed Weapons equipped into Weapon Set 1, one of the 1-Handed weapons (the offhand I think it is usually), gets placed into the last available spot from top left to bottom. You can suggest that a player get a Equipment or Invisible or Safe bag, but that doesn’t really solve all the issues. Using an Equipment bag, any random equipment you pick up on the floor can fill this. Invisible or Safe bags only work (in securing your offhand weapon) if you place them at the top, which will then place any items you pick up into them if there’s space (IIRC). By allowing the option to right-click and mark individual pieces as “Current kitten nal,” it should be able to remember its last current position, but also prevent it from showing up in NPC vendors as a bonus. Then, if you were to equip the two 1-Handed weapons again (the main and offhand), the Offhand weapon’s position in the inventory would become “occupied” by an X or some other place holder, so it can return to that position again, if you were to equip a 2-Handed weapon later on.

(6)Account-wide Inventory Visibility Option:
The ability to (only) view your other characters’ inventory via the Bank would be incredibly helpful. Create a separate tab for each character. Or have a tab that says “Alternates” and display each character’s inventory in the same manner as each Bank Tab is displayed, with each Character name above each. The point for this is because it allows you to see which characters have certain account-bound items you want to access on your current character; you then switch over to that character and put it into the bank. Some people have over 20 alts and this would make life easier. Though I can see how some people may say “I only have 5 alts. This isn’t a big deal.” Well, maybe not for you and you don’t have to use it, but the option being there would be nice for those that have a lot of alts.

(7) Option to dye ALL parts of an armor skin (or make them a consistent tint/shade):
Some specific armor pieces have certain spots on the armor that aren’t dyeable or become a really bad tint/shade when dyed to a certain color.
Or at the very least, provide an option to match every spot on the skin to be the tint of the dye selected, so it looks more uniform, and less of an eyesore (IMO).

Personal examples:
Sylvari T3 Heavy Chest piece – when dyed all abyss, there is a piece on the abdomen area that becomes silverish / gray. It looks really offputting, an checkbox option to “set all parts to same tint/shade” would be nice; the tint or shade that would be the determining color should be the one that is the most visually dominant.
Another example, (though some may disagree with me) are the Human T3 Heavy Chest and Leg pieces. The cloth portions of these skins will never truly be “black” when dyed abyss; an OPTION to set it to completely match the rest of the armor would be nice.
Yes, I’m a huge fan of abyss dye, and I’ve always noticed a lot of non matching portions on some armor pieces that I wish could become fully black.

(8) Provide an Option to Visually Match Different Armor Skins with the Same Tint or Shade:
This is different from the former because it focuses on the overall outfit. Some pieces of armor have an innately different tone of color, so although you may like the shape or style of the skin, the tint or shade just doesn’t match at all, no matter how much you try to adjust by picking a similar dye to compensate. As it currently is, if the tint or shades don’t match, and you either have to live with it, or be forced to find another piece that can match better —-or conform to using the same pieces from the same skin set; kind-of boring this way and discourages people from being able truly customize their looks.

This is all I can think of ATM, but will fix up any errors or make some ideas clearer if people find any; I’m not in any particular mood to go through it all again right now. I wrote all of this pretty quickly, so please excuse me if some statements run-on for too long.

I’ll add my two biggest sugestions :

  • FOV slider – I get really jealous when whatching GW2 videos like this on 2560×1440 or 2560×1600 monitors and then when i use flashing blades on my guardian on LA Knight the only thing i see is a kneecap
  • Spectator mode in dungeons – So we can teach new guildies/people/friends how to do certain dungeons paths live

Wow, some interesting ideas there.
I do agree with the FOV slider and Dungeon spectator mode.
A lot of times, my (ground) targeting skills are messed up because the enemy’s name and health bar covers the top portion of my screen; You naturally want to look at the view from an aerial perspective, so their names can often cover their entire body if you position it like that. If you hover a ground targeting skill over their name, the skill lands on you instead. It’s really annoying, and you’re forced to have to view it almost from a (more) grounded perspective.
