I did some math and found these numbers:
0.875 karma = 1 copper
1.142857143 = 1 karma
I divided costs of gathering tools and salvage kits and I got these numbers. I kind of expected the karma/gold values to be unrelated, so kudos to Anet for doing your math. :P
