Do you support the idea of improving very small guilds ?

I would like scalable Guild Halls (i.e. a very small guild could own a very small hall).

As the guild progresses, a bigger hall could be obtained.

I think even a one-person guild should be able to enjoy the creation of a few decorations and a place of its own.

There are many solo player, couples, 3-5 friends guilds out there and I feel like we were left behind.

Don’t get me wrong, I like the huge halls of the huge guild I am in. Its just that I find it a little…impersonal/empty. When I visit it, very few players are inside.

I also find it sad that a only a few guild leaders are allowed to decorate the halls while the vast majority of the guildies are restricted from it.

Thoughts?

As it was pointed out before, if guild halls scaled to number of members that could be exploited by large guilds to just dump materials into the bank, kick everyone out, upgrade, then reinvite them back in (a secondary guild can be set up to maintain communication between all guild members).

That aside, if your guild leaders are the only ones who can decorate, that’s your guild leader’s fault. There’s an option in ranks to set whether or not that rank can decorate, ask them to enable it for other ranks as well.

I dislike big guilds, my favourite guild was small but we always kept up before. Now, everyone has lost the will to play, despite buying HoT.
Joined another small guild, they couldn’t keep up with the level and upgrades and also gave up.
I am now in a guild that is small/medium but the leader works his kitten off to upgrade and donates all the stuff to the treasurer. I try to help but without the leader going to extreme lengths, it would fail too.

#noprofit is right. I haven’t spent a dime on gems since they clammed up and refused to address this.

ANET has proven they are short sighted idiots. They destroyed small guilds with HoT and are too kitten moronic to admit they screwed up.

Agree! But they didn’t mess up, they did it on purpose. Its’ just another reason not to spend real cash on this game.

My guild was small, always has been. think there were…I dunno…8 of us? People started losing interest, but still occasionally logged in back near the end of 2013 / beginning of 2014. With the HoT release….my guild is, sadly, now just me.

Oddly, I find I have no desire to attempt to recruit anymore.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

I think teeny tiny guilds (like me and my brother) should be able to have a booth in a bar somewhere, or a dimly lit alley, that would be both ridiculous and hilarious

I’ve always wanted a Tyrian version of my old Relto though /sigh

Speaking as someone who is in 4 guilds with 2, 56, 82 and 187 members respectively I think small guilds just have to accept that it’s going to take them longer to get guild hall upgrades.

The only way I could see different sizes of guild halls working without being exploited as Pandaman described is if it was totally separate halls based on the number of members the guild has and if you pass the cap and qualify for the next tier up you lose all your progress and have to start over. Which I imagine would anger small guilds even more. Anything else will just be used by bigger guilds too, and they will always, always be able to do it faster because they have more resources available.

As for other things like who can place decorations and who pays for upgrades that’s entirely down to the guild to work out. The leader can give anyone any permissions they like and the guild can invent any system they like for buying upgrades. I know of some guilds that charge members a ‘tax’ where they have to donate X amount of money or materials towards upgrades each week or month to stay in the guild.

One of my guilds has taken the fairly simple approach that it’s up to each member to decide if they want to donate, including the leader. So if you think upgrades are going too slowly or the wrong things are being upgraded it’s on you to pay for the upgrades you want to see.

Heh … if you think guild upgrades expensive wait till you look at the cost of the decorations.

However, the halls already scale quite well for small guilds. My guild has 5 or 6 actives most days, and we’ve slowly upgraded things over time. We’ve got pretty much all the T1 upgrades, t2 market, mine, and war room, and we’re pushing guild level 33. This took a few months, and our accomplishments felt earned.

Assuming you can’t earn due to having small numbers is incorrect. Stating that you shouldn’t have to due to having small numbers is just entitlement to something you have no interest in earning.

If you’re looking for a fair treatment for a “guild” of less than a group’s worth of people, I encourage you to rethink your definition of what a guild is. That said, once you’ve managed to get together 3+ people to claim a hall, there’s nothing stopping a single player from acquiring every single guild hall upgrade in the game eventually.

The concept of “scaling” guild halls doesn’t work.

You don’t want guild halls. You want personal housing. For the record I think some form of mini-hall that only offered the bar upgrades (for the same cost) would be acceptable, however the assertion that things should be cheaper becaus you are willing to spend less people’s time and effort on it is fundamentally flawed. Guild hall upgrades don’t scale with member count. They scale with Effort (guild mission) and Investment (crafting mats) It is unfair to expect large groups of players to pay what is in effect a penalty just for being large groups of players, when they are already paying exactly the same amount for upgrades as the smaller group.
