Since the fairly recent Cursed Shore nerfs, no more magic find buff in Southsun and dust prices taking a massive hit, I’ve found myself unable to make decent money out side of Citadel Of Flame path 1 and trade post flipping. Although the new dragon coffers with the patch offer an ok increase in my incomes, I am getting nowhere to the “old” cursed shore numbers.

With massive wait time between the “tunnel farming events” (penitent, shelter’s gate and jorfast camp defend) as well as the scaling changes and spider adds not dropping loot, it’s very hard to get anywhere near the amount of loot you used to get. What seems like the final nail to the coffin is the massive drop in dust prices. Before you could deal with the nerfed events since if you got a couple of t6 dusts you were fine.

If nothing is done to change this, I see more and more people just turning to CoF farm. Although you might think that if there are less people Cursed Shore, the prices of goods dropping there would go up. Unfortunately the price of tier 6 materials, arguably the main profit maker in Cursed Shore, won’t increase a lot since the new ectoplasm salvage into dust and mystic forge transmutes will keep the prices down. The tier 5 materials are currently extremely cheap and even if their prices rise a bit, there won’t be much room for the tier 6 prices to go up.

I have not played very much recently, so my observations might be completely wrong and I’d be glad if someone could point a good alternative to Citadel of Flame. I always though that CoF would be eventually nerfed to make other farming methods more comparable, but the opposite is happening which I find extremely strange. It’s almost like arena net saying:“Either your play a mesmer/warrior and farm this single instance forever or be content with much much lower income”.

Farming the new hologram things might be a good way to make money, but it’s still not nearly as good as CoF and once the dragon bash is gone there’s yet another alternative gone is favor of the all consuming Citadel. Anyways, I’d like to hear your input on the arguably troubling direction the game keeps going.

My hardcore farming group of 4 haven’t found anything that is worth investing time for.

We’ve pretty much given up, nothing to do.

Fractals are good I suppose. Lots of Heavy item bags, lots of level 80+ assorted mob types so you get pretty much all types of materials.

You could do CoE too, but thats harder to find a group for.

Do overtime at work and buy gems to convert to gold. That is the most efficient way to farm gold.

If people find a viable spot they will keep it quiet, because it will be nerfed if it becomes popular.

I don’t farm, well i hardly play.. but you could try HOTW P1, TA P1, SE P1 or CoE P1 they are pretty good money and fast when you get used to them..

SE is probably the fastest and easiest..

Or i guess run Dragon timer events, get many rares, throw into toilet and make exotics to sell, slow but steady…

Personally you’re better off finding a new game, i did, Neverwinter and TSW aren’t too bad..

This.

I got 160 gold with just $60.

No need for farming when everyone tries to buy gems with just gold… lol

Use visa buy 1600 gems for $20. Sell for 40g. Enjoy time with friends and family. Or farm for four hours. I had never bought gems but when I wanted a set of valkyries for two characters I thought kitten that and five minutes later it was all over and got to try it out. Which is what I really had wanted to do. Not farm my face off.
