Vines at Waypoints...
Relax.
Probably they’ll be another excuse to stage map “invasions”.
Tiami says in the story (minor minor spoiler) that she could improve waypoints so that they can be built without attracting the vines. So I wouldn’t worry just yet.

At a chance of 53 % ?
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

With a 53% chance of zapping you into the mists aswell.
Don’t worry. I used a waypoint that was ’’covered’’ by a vine.
It just means Mordremoth’s on his/her way.
I wouldn’t be too sure the murkvale waypoint in Brisban is completly shattered you can look at the shattered parts on the ground if you go visit.

That is true, but I don’t think ArenaNet’s going to stumble into a deep, dark hole and be like “GG. Have fun with no waypoints, guys! ”
Then again I might just be acting naive here and they actually are planning to do that, in which the appropriate response would be…
/facepalm
(Also, apparently the forums don’t think “naive” is a word, and it keeps wanting to auto-correct it. It keeps making the single dot on the letter I into two dots.)
True I still think we could solve the whole problem by just using logging axes on the vines, but that might just be the obsessive gatherer in me talking.
Honestly I think they might pop a few more way points (like 1 ever couple of maps) for the sake of the story (to maybe make some other races notice the waypoints are under attack) but no doubt they’d be returned after the living story or whatever tiami is making for them.

That might be caused by whatever language you have set as primary in your browser. It doesn’t auto-correct naive for me. /shrug
OT: I don’t think ArenaNet will remove all the Waypoints, either, but….I bet many did not think Lion’s Arch would be destroyed completely, either! Lol.
Wow this waypoint thread is 14 hours old and no one has mentioned mounts yet!
Oh shi….

I got stuck in a vine a few days back waypointing. Camera went mad, wondered if the world was ending.
Are we vining about the waypoints? Or is ANet vining about waypoints? Can we get cheese with our vine?

I think the folks at Anet would destroy 80-90% of the waypoints in the game, just for shock value alone. That would give us a reason to hate Mordy.
Also, they may well think mounts would be a huge money spinner for them via the gem shop and with no waypoints it probably would! I could be being too cynical here thou.

Artists at ANET are tired of drawing new sets. Will work on mounts for the cash shop for a while instead.
:D

You do realize that you’re talking about the folks who gave us Scarlet and destroyed LA.
If Anet does away with the waypoints, I say we should demand that they give us mounts. Walking is okay, but it could take hours just to get from one end of Tyria to another. I should know. I’ve run with RPers who don’t use waypoints.
I think it wouldn’t be so bad if Anet would temporarily (4 weeks at the most) disable only a part of the way points. Specifically I mean these way points (which are the way points that are currently visibly affected): http://images.v-media.eu/guild-wars-2/Ranke13.jpg
Actually when playing the current living story I thought the whole waypoint/vine story was a prelude to some big change they were going to make to waypoints or travel. My first thought was the introduction of mounts, because it would make them a lot of money. Imagine mobile airship homes decked out for crafting etc. Then in the living story Taimi said something about making waypoints more efficient, which could bring in some clever changes. Or maybe it means nothing at all.
Hopefully, they will at least fix the bug with the vine at the Drytop waypoint that causes you to get stuck when you port there.

Personally I’d be very upset and disappointed if waypoints were taken out or changed.
This is one thing I love about GW2 – the fact that I can jump right into the fun and don’t have to run unnecessarily to get to where I want to be.
It means more time spent having fun by doing what you want instead of waiting to have fun traversing the map.

It’s not the forums, but your own spell checker. (most internet browsers have an inbuilt spell checker.)
and naive with 2 dots is actually the “correct” spelling.

As a French word, it is spelled naïve or naïf.
