Wait, Victory or Death is soloable now?
Yes, soloable since June 23 patch!
They fixed the living story…finally.
Now I just wish they’d fix the Personal Story journal. Even though some of my characters did the “broken” version, I’d still like my journal to be updated and the same on all my characters that have finished it completely.
Be aware – sometimes it bugs out if you don’t watch the cutscenes, so it can completely block your progress.
So long Treeface.
“…Kormir? I know not of whom you speak.”
It is buts it’s not much fun. You get your pact buddy NPCs but they all hide in the airship which makes it a bit of a slog solo. It’s more fun with a group.
When you move with airship be sure to stand whole time on the deck, becouse dialogue line of captain about giants won’t appear and you will watch giants and they you and nothing will happen besides that you won’t progress.
Players didn’t like having the last part of the living story be group only so they finally changed it.
All dungon stories should be solo imo
very few people want to do them anymore and often when you do find a group for it its skip the videos skip the videos..
very annoying
I just finished the new story 60 – 80 (I finished this on my other 80s using the previous options, but saved one to try out the solo version of the story).
Overall, really liked the tweaks and new voiceovers.
Death and Victory was pretty fun, right up until the cannons. On my squishy glass mesmer the cannon phases were not exactly hard, but definitely a long slog. I could fire only a couple shots before I had shift to killing adds because I couldn’t just stand there and tank them while I fired the cannon. I did use the cannon’s shield skill (where available) on cooldown, but the dragons still spawned adds very close to my character.
The way this fight is scripted I bet the solo cannon phases would be dramatically faster on a class with heavy armor or powerful passive defenses, for example guardian. Is that intentional?
FWIW, I’ve completed all of the Living Story Season 2 achievements — many of them on the same glassy mesmer that had to go into “long slog mode” for cannon phases here. There were a few achievos where a specific class had a small advantage or disadvantage, but not this extreme. Anyway, food for thought.
Thank you for the restorations and new solo mode. I got to revisit a few old friends, and see some chapters I never experienced before.
