Want the human female animations back
It won’t be fixed today, especially when a new part of the LS is coming out. Don’t want to “break all that immersion” by having someone kick the dirt in the background while waiting for the cinematic to end..
lol
They could at least fix the running animation!

My immersion was broken. I need to file a complaint.
I was half-expecting them to be packaged into an 1800 gem Animation package with this patch.
So the animations were temporarily removed to be worked on and reincorporated in a way that allowed them to perform normally in the game but to stop (or maybe change) during cinematics. But getting to a place where the animations could be configured on a more fine-grained basis took more time than anticipated.
So the fact it was officially stated some time ago the animation missing was a “bug” is now officially countered with the fact it was removed.
Was kinda hard to sell that an entire frame set of animations going missing was due to a “bug”.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…

Yeah, it being a “bug” was very strange. But I could go with Gaile’s explanation; I think it’s reasonable. I’ll take it as one of those “we’re upgrading to serve you better” things.

I never bought that it was a bug.
My immersion is broken when Rytlock jumps into the ghost hole in one of the LS instances! I don’t like seeing my character spaz out in the background!

lol…have you checked if this “spazzering” might be the new idle animation? xD
But to be honest…
I think it is just sad that Anet seems to be on /ignore mode…on ANY topic…
well…besides LS and the gemstore that is….but maybe all the work just went to that LS part and now they have some time to communicate with the community…
that was a good one, right?

Well I did like the new movie scenes. I never was a big fan of trying to make LS 100 percent real. I mean its still a bunch of cartoon characters. I did notice a few “immersion breaking” things. I can’t remember them now because I honestly don’t care that much. I’d rather have the idle animations.
Ah… Really? The removal of the obnoxious stretching animations was just a bug? Dang. I actually liked my lady characters not moving around so much, and back when they were around I was in the habit of turning my character a bit to stop them mid-stretch because I found it so annoying. :B
I wish we could be able to toggle certain animations, at least. Sigh.

You mean the hole that doesn’t appear? Last few times I’ve done this the ground doesn’t break and Rytlock just jumps into the solid rock. o.o

I don’t know what was said previously, but doesn’t “bug” work in the context of this situation? It wasn’t intended that the animations play during particular moments. They played. That sounds bug-ish to me. (Unless you’re suggesting that their not playing was called a “bug” as if someone thought they should be playing rather than that they were intentionally disabled. That could be a simple matter of misunderstanding, misuse of the word, or miscommunication. It seems rather a minor point to me.
Again, for clarity: Because the animations were not appropriate for the setting, they were disabled. They will be re-enabled when they can operate as intended. We don’t have a timeframe for this at the present time.

They’re referring to this: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Female-human-only-has-1-animation-now/page/2#post4392079
A thread was made stating that human females only have 1 idle animation. The fact that the other animations were removed was referred to as a “bug”.
But if the animations were removed on purpose, then that was intended and not a bug. So which is it?

Better solution would be doing it the other way around. Enabling it and then add the fix later.
In addition the walking animation can also be fixed as this is no problem in those situations.

Ah so the bug was that the animations were NOT supposed to trigger/run during cut scenes and dialog but were so they were disabled.
Yeah this was definitely a miss-communication as many (most? all?), including my self, thought that the removal was the bug.
As others have said I think it would have been better to simply leave them as is till a proper fix was ready but I can see that keeping things immersion wise on track is important too. Either way you’re going to get complaints. As for me, now that I know why the animations were removed I can except the reasoning and look forward to when they are fixed and returned to the game.
Just don’t take tooooo long okay.
Peace.
Sooo, if I got this straight. Simply because some neckbeard(s) bug reported that their female characters were stretching at inappropriate times we’re now stuck with female idle animations that have us only looking around and nothing else? Is this one of those, “cause it breaks my immersion” arguments?
I still see countless mesmers in the immobile standing position despite still in motion after using their blink skill all the time. A bug I’ve lovingly dubbed “hover mode,” and that has been in effect since day one. We going to disable blink now? C’mon… Really? Can we have our idles back now?

You mean legbeards.
I dont understand… if it got disabled for inappropriate animations during specific moments… why is it the female human is the only one that had it disabled… or am I not aware of any others that have been? im not implying others should be, but other races and of both female/male genders have some animations where they seem like they can care less of what the npc/story is talking about soooo why have they not been disabled?

It’s an excuse to defeminize them. That has been an ongoing theme since they butchered the running animation.

Oow oow, now somebody is going mad feeling even more in there right to remove these things.
As if that is what feminine is about. As if they have to walk like that and make such provoking gestures to be considered a female. Bad bad you it shows what the media and games has put into the minds of the people.
(Just for the record, this is not my opinion, just imagining how somebody (that would want to remove these things in the game) is reacting when reading your statement).

Living in a world where males decide what to be “feminine” means. And you wonder why we don’t like that…
Just give us the male animations for a quick fix. The last remaining idle is my character brushing her hair aside from her face. She is wearing a helmet btw.

What? We don’t want male animations either… I’d like the old ones back. >.<
Also, sad as it is, males have always set the bar for female attractiveness, behavior, customs, etc. Women in the Victorian era wore corsets so tight they could cause intestinal damage. Look at the fashion industry. Do you think any woman in her right mind chooses to eat nothing but cotton balls sipped in vinegar to maintain THAT figure? No… they don’t. Oddly enough women on the extreme opposite of that fall into the “butch” stereotype and practically become men, so…
I for one don’t see what this has to do with idle animations going off at inappropriate times though. When did this become an issue of gender identity?

No what’s going on in this thread is that an animation is taken away (likely because of bad reasons having to do with the complains you come with yourself) that people like.
I know that some people find everything offensive and so feel the need to suck fun out of everything but it’s not good if companies in fact do listen to these type of people.

Whaaaaaaaat?… I simply meant I dont like having one of my lvl 80’s that I truly love planking everywhere she goes. I TRUTHFULLY dont care if they REMOVE this and add other animations instead, other than just having her brush her hair to the side. People dont seem to understand that regardless of what you may think most of us simply want our characters to be more “lively” during moments where you go afk, or when your thinking of what to do next.
And how is kicking a rock from the floor an example of making a provoking gesture that determines ones gender? If I misunderstood your post I apologise… But from what I did understand you are the absolute furthest from what I meant. Furthermore I would like if you were a little more thoughtfull next time you point fingers at someone saying hes in it for provocative gestures or that hes some type of anti-feminist ignorant pig.

Cool well my apology that was placed in advance stands, wasnt to clear on how to take your post. I had assumed thats what you meant, but at the same time I thought you were calling me out. None the less if someone is thinking in this manner, I hope they view it from a players perspective who simply wants more immersion, and not more eye candy.
So there was a “bug” and then there was a “bug fix” which was worse than the original “bug”?
This question having been asked and answered many times, and the thread veering rather widely off topic, I think it’s time to let this thread rest.
Thanks for understanding.
