Want to make a new main but...
There’s no gear creep, so why would you feel like you’re being left behind?

Missing out on what exactly? They aren’t moving up or progressing anywhere
There will always be tons of people playing the same class as you, and while Guardian is probably one of the most played I don’t think it’s anything over the top. The class that seems to be the least played from what I see anyways is Necromancer.
and yes it is still a very good time to settle on a main character to invest a lot of time in. This game is still practically brand new.
The level 80 content isn’t going anywhere. Reroll another toon if you want and enjoy it, don’t stress. People are going to be running dungeons and doing engame things for a long time you are not going to be missing anything. You already have an 80 it will take you no time to get your thief there. One suggestion though, thief is my main and it is a kitten ton of fun playing, don’t rush through t but learn the class and enjoy it just a suggestion though.

to me it seems like there’s a good amount of just about every class
although in my opinion, warriors, guardians and thieves are the most popular
warriors and guardians are exceptionally easy to play since warriors are really powerful and come with a ton of defence
guardians also have alot of defence, as well as quite a few defence buffs/healing abilities, this allows them to stand their ground through attacks that would normally kill other classes
thieves are hard to play since they have extremely low defences and constantly rely on dodging for defence, but their extreme damage output draws alot of players to them
if you want a new main that’s not as popular, i actually haven’t seen much of engineers and i guess mesmers(?)
engineers are limited to ranged weapons, but they get their own unique set of weapons in the form of weapon kits that let you use things like flame throwers, they also get a bunch of stationary turrets that pretty much allow them to form their own death zone where everything that walks into your territory dies
mesmers are kind of like summoners in that they bring out illusions to attack. these illusions aren’t like pets, they don’t stay with you once you summon them, rather the illusions function more like combat skills in that they come in, do their attacks and then get replaced or die to make room for more illusions
Ryfaul – 80 Warrior
Fluene – 80 Mesmer
Yeah thanks guys, what I thought really, there’s still plenty of time. I guess it’s just thinking too much and I should just play and try to enjoy it.

Yeah that’s been my observation too. Problem is neither of those really appeal, at least the idea of them, haven’t actually tried them. Might try playing a few classes to level 20 or so before I really decide.
Just to add my two cents, I totally agree with what everyone else has said mate, the game is practically brand new, just over two weeks since release. Besides, it’s not like other games where everybody is raiding and gearing up ahead of you.
Take the time and enjoy yourself, Thief is my main and it’s a lot of fun – certainly a different challenge than a Guardian.
I also thought you might be interested in a recent State of the Game. At the bottom there is a chart showing the most picked professions. Warrior is the highest. It looks like Thief and Guardian are almost completely even lol.

Good luck mate and try to chill a bit, just enjoy yourself and don’t worry about everybody else!
I play “low level” areas all the time with my 40+ level character and expect I’ll be doing the same with my lvl 80 character – there’s simply a ton of content in this game and plenty of incentive to explore around and keep having a good time. The only thing level means for me in this game is what areas I’m restricted from, it never stops me – and many other people I’ve seen – from exploring “downward”.
I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.
I compleatly disagree with the other posters here. I am currently lvl 64 and dynaic events just don’t hardly happen anymore. When there was lots of people in the low level zones I use to see them all the time, but now I see very few. Today I have seen maybe 3 or 4 and I have been on the game most of the day.
Leveling has been sooooo slow solo. I have been surpised at how bad the grind has been without dynamic events. It has been this way for me for over 30 levels. From what I can see dynamic events seem to trigger based on how many people are around. Since the lower levle zones are no where near full I just don’t see them anymore. I have been in Mount Maelstrom all day, I went for over 3 hours without seeing a Dynamic Event. If you don’t have a group to join in, solo leveling is realy realy bad.
