Warhorn Audio Feedback [merged]
Just used the Warhorn on my ranger for the first time in awhile. WTH?!! Seriously? An the change was made on purpose? Ugh.
So . . . give us back our freaking warhorns, no one really wants to use a farthorn.
Acrobatics trait line. Then sell it back
to them for $50. Brilliant! – ghost of P.T. Barnum
This doesn’t get to sit on the 4th page. Jesus Christ, this is awful. They ALREADY destroyed Howler. Who okayed this garbage? I’ve heard more ‘realistic’ horns at the Renaissance Faire. Seriously. “It sounds like a fart,” is not an exaggeration. This is just absolutely, unequivocally God awful. I don’t even care if I get an infraction anymore. Somebody reading this? Bring this up to the people in charge. Bring it up, and suggest whoever worked on it get tossed in a trash can and rolled down a flight of stairs. It wasn’t broken. Who decided to fix it? Terrible, terrible sound, maybe the worst on-skill sound I’ve heard in any game I’ve ever played. No lie. It’s like a joke, but it’s still here.
Bump. For the love of Christ, bump.
Please return the warhorn to its original sound
Please return the warhorn to its original sound
Seconded. Seconded x10 BILLION.
btw did you guys know you can cancel the casting of warhorn skills but you still get the warhorn sound effect? By doing this you can spam the sound once per 1.5s or so by rotating two abilities and canceling every time.
The old warhorn sounds weren’t great, but for the life of me I can’t understand how anyone at ANet could possibly listen to the new sounds and think “yes, this is better than what we had”.
Neither can I. Do they really think this is just going to go away? If they wanted to change it, why the hell did they not just sample/recreate something simple like the Death Knight’s Horn of Winter sound effect from WoW? Even that would’ve been worlds better than this farty garbage. I really, really hope somebody makes a video shaming this.
I like it on my necro….the locusts appearing with that sound seem appropriate now. >.>
2 weeks, on the front page the whole time. Anet has yet to acknowledge this.
Nobody finds it funny anymore? Nobody? Nobody.
that it makes every other class in the game boring to play.”

Nobody finds it funny anymore? Nobody? Nobody.
I summon those who find it funny with the power of my warhorn.
pff-ffff-frrrt
…Nope, no longer funny.

To any player who uses warhorns,
Need your help to keep farting warhorns a page one topic, so Anet makes the necessary changes quickly. Please keep voicing your concern on this. Even if you don’t use warhorns, if you find them annoying to be around we need your +1.

They’re like a mix of vuvuzela and wet fart all in one!
Not only do they sound like farts, they are really subtle and hard to hear.
Like the silent but deadly type…
I vote for them to just revert them.

I’ll be replying to that warhorn thread a lot. I love the utility of the warhorn and have been using it as an offhand since the nerf to life-on-crit food way back when. This new sound? The first thing to make me MUTE the game rather than listen to it. Now I just watch Markiplier or something while I play. I can’t stand it.
Is there anyway to input your own custom sounds for the warhorn? Right now it’s the most demotivational sound I’ve had to put up with.
I mean, you’re trying to gain swiftness and all that happens is pbbffffft
It’s been two weeks now, and still no comment …Gaile? …anybody?? Can we at least get acknowledgement that you know the players are not happy about this change?

Every time my warrior grants himself swiftness, he also has to check his depends, just in case that was the sound of a real shart.
They are probably hanging out with the human female idle and running animations. /s

They’re like a mix of vuvuzela and wet fart all in one!
And thus is it named: “The Shartuzela!”
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
It is evident that they really don’t care if a lot of players don’t like what they did with the horn sound (like many other changes they come up with, good or bad). They are going to do what they want to do regardless. I really can’t believe some one approved the sound though.
Anet is ignoring the main thread as well

We’ll just keep it on the front page for a good, long time. Also, my thoughts on the warhorn sound:
Another concerned player asking for a revert.
Ran some dungeons with the guild. At a part where we needed to rush and grab a few things, I sounded the horn to speed things up.
I felt so embarrassed by how pathetic that horn sounds now. >_>

Neither can I. Made for a mildly entertaining video, though. I got bored and decided to do it myself before dinner:
Excellent! I’ve been hoping the video makers would step up to the plate to help shame ANet into reconsidering. And you stepped up in fine style. Well done!
Now we need one featuring the warhorn-wielding risen subjugators with their victims fleeing in fear from the toxic blast. “Who Cut the Cheese?” would be appropriate background music for that one.
Human berserker protecting two asuran thieves on point.
I see no heavy armor, fire field, invulns or shouts. In fact, he’s downed after 3 hits, it looks more like a Ranger.
But yeah, this would have to be the worst sound effect in the game, any horn noise would be better. How hard is it? Buy a couple of horns online, record the sounds you make once you get a few good ones, make one for each class. Seriously.
Either that or let us use our own effects we like, have a sound effect folder and give us the names of the files that can be used so we can use our own effects, by putting them in that folder with the right names. Done.

Any news on a fix?
Keeping this thread on page 1
Really surprised someone actually approved this new war horn audio. =/
It seems this thread will go the way of female idle animation thread—-ignored until it goes away.
…Really surprised someone actually approved this new war horn audio. =/
IKR, who heard this noise and thought ‘That is a good replacement for the current Warhorn effect, approved.’? A crazy person, that’s who.
I don’t even care if any Anet devs comment on this issue at this point – as long as they ninja fix it back. I was so looking forward to using my howler on my elementalist come HoT, but now…
… nothing says sylvari, graceful wielder of the four elements, like an obnoxious farting tuba.

I am still curious if anyone higher up at Anet even knows this was changed. No patch note, no response in the bug forum, no response here. They are literally ignoring it on purpose. They have to be, there is no other explanation. That must mean that someone doesnt want anyone at Anet to know.
The farthorn is joke and Anet doesnt even know it.
Dawdler, their response to a bug forum post was to move it to the Guild Wars 2 game discussion forum without comment. Sad, really. Leaves us to infer that the change was intentional, and that they don’t want to discuss it.
This change affects a Legendary Weapon. I bet they’d already have it addressed if The Dreamer started sounding like an old nag with bronchitis, or Twilight’s footprints changed colour.
Come on, GW2/Anet, show some respect for your players – including those who worked long and hard to get an awesome Legendary Warhorn that has been changed and/or broken repeatedly, and not fixed for ages now.

Maybe someone coul make a thread titled “things to keep in the first page” that include farthorn, idle animations, pet names, etc. Less clutter and more impact, and easier to maintain active.

Suppose we could ask to have the farthorn thread stickied until they actually fix it. -_-
Almost feels like yet another warrior nerf.
Banner cooldowns are stupid long even when traited;
Swiftness duration on Charge was clipped (along with no boon duration increases in the class);
And now the perma-swiftness option for warriors sounds like an insolent child rasping at people.
But I’ve digressed. I don’t know why this was changed, but I’m hoping we get enough people committed to keeping this at the top page until the audio is either reverted or upgraded to a real warhorn effect.

Using a warhorn still sounds like running around suffering from horrible diarrhea…
In case Arena.Net just forgot how warhorns should sound, here are a few examples:

Leader of “Servants of Balance” [SoB], a small guild endemic to the FSP.
I’ll throw my support in here for changing the sound back. The new sound just is not good.
I don’t care if they change it back or just change it again, but it needs to change. Hell, I would even take a soundbite of one of those plastic/rubber festival trumpets they give to kids at carnival games. Immersion in games is one of my things—which is why I wouldn’t mind a (better) more realistic horn effect—but if I have to mute my kitten game every time I play it, that’s more or less impossible. I’ll just play something else.
I really don’t understand the silence policy on these forums. I’ve spent money in cash shops on games whose devs respond to these sorts of issues on the forums. It’s seriously kittening aggravating seeing red posts pop up in new Gem Store/Screenshot/SMS threads while issues like this sit and marinate in silence. I actually spend more time in WoW than I do playing this now, just because I can play that with the sounds on. Or Rift. Or EQ2. Or Trove. Or LoTRO. I mean really: Take your pick.
Side-note: The “How to Give Good Feedback” sticky makes me laugh and stab my desk with a pocket knife. We’ve pointed out the issue. We’ve pointed out how we’ve seen it resolved in other games. We’ve offered suggestions regarding how to fix it. About the only thing we haven’t done is stay positive, but it’s a little hard to do that when you feel like you’re being completely ignored.
But people have said that before. The wall of silence is anything but new, which is why I hardly play anymore and haven’t/don’t plan to buy the expansion. I keep waiting for something to change. Maybe one day. Until then, there’s always the Loremaster achievement in WoW—especially since I don’t have to pay a subscription fee for that anymore.

Since I’ve played too much SMT4 today and Jonathan talked way too smooth all day long, I’m in RP mood right now. Here it comes…
Greetings fellow adventurers of Tyria!
I join you on your humble, yet noble task to remind this world’s creators of the very important issue regarding the enigmatic…. well, not so pleasant tune one of our beloved weapons emits nowadays. For the sake of every hearing-being, we shall stand firm and protect our magnificent ears as well as those of our closest companions who must struggle every time we begin to assist them in battle. May the gods of Tyria have mercy on us and bless us once more with the beautiful tune our ancestors used to play… merely sixteen days ago.
Sincerely, Jonathan Shel
oT: I bet this post has endless grammatical errors but I dont care xD
Just read a locked thread with a red post about how they communicate here “first and often.” Maybe in the tech support forum, or the bug reports. Do event announcements and suggestion thread fluff/niceties count as communication in the general forum? Either way, I haven’t seen any communication here yet. I’d take it as “we can’t respond to every thread” but you would think feedback threads at 5+ pages would warrant a quick post before some of the fluff.
My two cents.
I came back to play today after a spring and summer away from the game and I main a Ranger usually will S/W…..
I used my war horn skills and yelled “Fudge!”
Fudge is my dog and usually lies under my desk when I am on the computer. The new sound effect is so unrecognizable as a horn my initial reaction, even though the sound obviously occurred when I used a war horn skill, was to blame the noise on my dog.
They’re special! They got aspirations.”
Finn the human
With the grand clusterf*** that is this mordrem ‘event’, I doubt if this stuff’s even on the radar. I say doubt because, without any form of communication on the issue, we can’t ever know for sure. Such, such a good feeling, not knowing whether or not people are listening or care.
To me, it actually sounds like two separate effects blended together. Perhaps it is a bug and WHs are playing two effects instead of their specific one.
Maybe it is intended that we should no longer give our teammates speedbuffs. I find myself avoiding it because I don’t want to molest others with that horrible soundeffect…
Tbh I really wonder why I still play my supportive ranger instead of deleting him to make place for a more useful revenant. Blindly pre-purchasing isn’t my style so I won’t get that free slot anyway.
Maybe it is intended that we should no longer give our teammates speedbuffs.
That’s pretty much my take on it. :\
And with all the Mordrem qq’ing (seriously, use Google search, people..), it’ll take some effort to keep this on the front page.

I’m beggining to like this insulting thing. I just added it to my RP with my warrior, who is now a very bad mannered and not so clean charr with an addiction to canned beans and broccoli.

Well, at least somebody found a use for it. I hope somebody at Anet HQ is starting a running joke of putting a whoopie cushion on the chair of whoever okayed this.
