Dear Anet,
Recently, I have just noticed that there is a warning/disclaimer in the reporting system (of bots, selling golds, etc). The warning is quoted as below:
“WARNING: GM actions will be based on a review of chat logs, not on unsubstantiated player reports. Abuse of the report feature may lead to your account being banned.”

Ever since I have noticed the warning, I have stopped any reporting of bots for fear that my account might be banned as a result. As you may or may not be aware, bots are now even harder to detect. Should I make a mistake without spending precious time to fully verify if the bot is really a bot, I might get myself banned.

Therefore, until such time when another disclaimer is clearly put forth to state that the reporting player will not be indiscrimately banned for innocent albeit incorrect usage of the system, I will not be utilizing the reporting system to report any single suspicious player in future.

The idea that you’ll get banned for an occasional bad report is ludicrous. This is obviously aimed at griefers who intentionally report people in an attempt to get them banned. Kids with vendettas.

Anet won’t ban anyone for making mistakes.

As stated by Vayne de idea is to prevent people from reporting other jsut to grief them. As you say in your quote “abuse of the report….”. Means that you won’t get banned for one single report done with no proof. This way, you also provide the team with more evidence to use when banning people.

Hope this helps. Don’t be afraid to report anyone if you can provide evidence.
