Damage isn’t as high as other weapons because of the amount of CC the weapon has (Knockback, Knockdown, Stun and if traited, Immobilise). That’s the trade-off.

Play against Hambow in PvP and you’ll see that hammer is “fine.”
Although for the record, I would support multiple skill choices for weapons still. I see absolutely no reason why warrior’s hammer or mesmer’s staff in PvE should be so non-optimal. They work but…why should we settle for bottom of the barrel just to use a specific weapon?
Sorry for my earlier post, I should prob tweak it to look friendlier, hammer for war is primarily used for pvp/wvw where its more effective because of its cc useage. For pve its damage can be nice for open world but not really useful for bosses, dungeons, fractals. Its generally hammer for cc, gs for power, swords for condi. I do agree though that the skills could use a little reworking in the form of better activation time and maybe some reduced cd. So hope that helps put it in better perspective.

I never say im pro with hammer :P i just tryng it a lot but i notice that is rly far away good than most of weapons,in damage and in cc :| maybe is me but i find it rly useless atm.

The hammer is one of the best weapons in the game – at CC. not DPS. In most situations in a setting such as PvE you don’t need CC, but there are some battles (e.g 2man dungeons) where it is an absolute life saver and there is no substitute.
Not to mention its power in PvP and WvW with the confusion trait.
That said, the adrenaline nerf did hit hammer alot harder than the other weapons. I would like to see a new trait added that increase your adrenaline gain (as a mutliplier) when carrying a hammer, like some kind of brutality bonus.
Unlike other weapons the hammer is completely dependant on the F1 skill.

yeah 4-5k+ crits are horrible damage when coupled with the knock downs and stuns…… dont forget they are aoe which makes it even worse of a weapon…..
it does not EVER need to be buffed and still requires huge nerfs to be considered “balanced”
The Hammer has way too much CC, at least for WvW its gameplay when spammed from multiple peiople is way too overpowered.
CC needs finally a balancing, that once you get knocked downed, that you can’t be knocked downed instantly again for like the next 6 seconds or so.
Same like a thief cant instantly stealth after a stealth again, a warrior should be able to knockdown someone one time after another, be it alone or in a group, when spammed it becomes just way to OP and frustrating to play against, because there is absolutel no fun in fighting some buttheads, that keep you permanently knockdowned so that you had from begin on no chance at all to do something making you basically a free kill of the silver platter.
So I’m definetely at the opinion, that the hammer should get significantly its cc reduced and therefore could get its attack speed and damage slightly improved or could receive among his skilsl some other nice utility effect like that this attack, that causes this long weakness, could cause also vulnerability.
The 360° attack could launch enemies wider away than before end reflect projectiles
The overhead attack could create instead of its knockdown a large shockwave attack, that could create multiple stacks of bleeding also andwould give the hammer sort of a ranged attack also, which could hit multiple foes in a line of sight.
So I’m with the Op, hammer needs change, but not just only buffs to make it way more overpowered, than it already is, but with keeping in mind that it needs its CC absolutely reduced and that the game should finally receive in overall a game balance change towards hard cc’s becoming not unendlessly spamable anymore through adding a time gated protection after you have been hard cc’ed, so that the OP’ness of the hard cc’s can’t get anymore massively abused in WvW.
