Waypoint costs and the lack of mounts

I feel like I’m constantly running a parking meter while playing since 80.

I understand that mounts will never be added to the game for how the areas are designed, but between dying, either by falling off high surfaces, or for any reason, having to constantly dish out a couple silver for this transportation seems like a fault in ways. Nobody wants to trek across an entire zone just to save a few silver.

At the same time, nobody wants to spend that silver as it adds up.

This is probably my only real issue with end-game.

If you don’t want to trek across zones, what would even be the point of mounts?

^It would make the trek faster/safer.

It’s not the act of not wanting to move about, it’s the speed/aggro.

Swiftness is fine and all. I can use my staff, or my retreat ability as a Guardian to get around faster. As you can tell I’m mainly referring to Orr.

If you die, you spend money. If you run around, you attract countless enemies, and there lies the money thing again. It just feels clunky is all I’m saying.

You atract countless enemies if you try to run past everything. Killing your way through is a lot cheaper and safer.

I wouldn’t mind a small increase in runspeed but tbh I don’t want mounts. The teleport/waypoint system is way better.

In a way I don’t want mounts either, just a way as to not spend so much every time I die or want to meet up with my friend, or do a party of my storyline.

Even if porting to cities cost nothing, or some sort of hearthstone would be appreciated. I know that’s reaching into the Warcraft bag, but I often wish that I had one in my bags.

I think OP is on to something with Orr…..I think in other areas …its fine. The problem with a flightpath system and a huge open world is it wouldnt work for DE’s…people need to be able to find each other..I would say that maybe the price for travel could be reconsidered..mounts ill pass on

I don’t understand the issue; one event and you’ve covered the waypoint cost, and repair costs don’t start getting out of hand until you’re well geared.

Repair costs in WvWvW, on the other hand, are totally out of control. It’s just one more dig at losing factions, and as I found out in the last match it’s possibly the most rational reason why people stop queuing for WvWvW at all when they’re being dominated. The waypoints are free (as they should be), but it’s not like you’re going to get alot of farm going (I might have made 1g in four hours of WvWvW tonight, but really it was probably less, and that’s with abandoning any pretense of salvaging junk gear).
