Waypoint mechanics
I think it’s fixed and you always look to the same direction when way pointing, which is based on the specific waypoint. For example every time I ever use the waypoint next to Tequatl I always end up facing towards the sea, no matter where I was and where I was looking when I used the waypoint.
Its a fixed direction afaik.
It is fixed, as are map-view scouts. When you come out of it, you’re set to a particular facing which is not necessarily the way you were facing when you started it.
If it’s dev-constructed similar to portals in other games, you put down a box facing your portal then you put down a box at the exit point and the two boxes are linked. The end box has a facing, just as the entry point does. Thus, facing is set when the end point is.
What determines the direction your character is facing when you arrive after using a waypoint?
Some intern visited each waypoint and determined the least useful direction for people to face after arriving.
(I can’t think of any other reason why spawning into Lost Precipice has us facing away from all the services, among many other examples of inconvenience.)

Ha ha! That’s true, I’m always facing backwards to where I want to go. Only once, in all the times I’ve visited our Guild Hall, have I ever moved in the direction I faced upon arriving (wanted to see what was down there…lol).
