Title says everything, so I’d be comparing this game to other games including World of Warcraft and previous Guild Wars game.

For those of you who played MMO such as World of Warcraft, It’s no secret that some of the more demanding items are the revealing clothing. In WoW, the most popular transmogrification items are vanilla clothes that have one distinction to them; they’re skimpy. The definition of Skimpy may vary depanding on the person, but it generally means “not covering everything head to toe” Unlike, say, most or every single piece of gear involving new graphics withing the game.

Guess whats the most popular human armor within the game? You guess it, the human cultural tier 3. Here it is
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v469/BokoCasso/j1.png
Doesn’t that prove anything?

Where did somewhat immature and whimsical, but also absolutely essential staples of fantasy fashion go?

This game is lacking Skimpy Armor and we need more. I’m not saying every single piece of gear should be skimpy, I’m saying there should be at least a few more.

I’m not saying that skimpy armor should just be for females, in fact there is a lot of males characters in which their armor is revealing. Such as, Kratos from God of Wars and Leonidas from Spartan total warriors.

There are lots of fully clothed armour types for those who don’t like the skimpy stuff but it would be really nice if there was more skimpy stuff for those who do like it. After all, this is an MMO and we should be able to dress our characters the way we want it to be. You shouldn’t hate someone for wanting to look like this, it isn’t your character.

I’d like to remind you that this game and other MMOs alike, whee people carry a zoo in their pockets and fling fire from their fingertips, 200 foot tall boss being destroyed, wrecked and somehow held back by a single 3 foot tall Asura and all evil in the world mysteriously revives itself after time even when proclaimed defeated. There is enough applied magic and game-mechanic-elements that are more an offense to logic and immersion than presumably enchanted jockstrap providing the same protection as slightly less enchanted spiky armored greaves with skulls on their kneecaps.

One point I agree with is various Asian allegedly-free-games using skimpy armor to an atrocious extent as a marketing gimmick, but I’m not asking for that. I ask for choice in the matter.

I’d be okay with some more skimpy-ish models, especially for medium armor wearers (including for males too), but to me, too much skimpy armor is immersion breaking because of how campy and unrealistic it is.

Are you saying because other games do something, this game should, as well? I am neither agreeing or disagreeing about armor styles, I just want to know if that is your reason for suggesting this, (and as a suggestion, you should probably post it in that forum).

Oh, and you should probably amend your title, and speak for yourself, because I am demanding no such thing. =)

It’s a simple task to appease to people through sex appeal, but it is far more rewarding to go the highroad and not turn the game into some 13 year olds wet dream. I think Arenanet is above this. Go play some korean game of you want over sexualization.

Also, I’m typing on my goggle as hard as I can, but nothing seems to happen. =\

Maybe you’d care less about skimpy clothing in video games if you had someone to dress skimpily for you in real life.

If you really want skimpier clothing, why don’t you go play Scarlet Blade? I’m sure you’ll find plenty there. Here, we’re mature adults who realize not all armor needs to cover the bare minimum of decency and actually want something PROTECTIVE.

Oh, but saying women should run around half naked isn’t a personal attack?

It should be rather obvious, but this isn’t really a relevant argument, mostly because revealing armor is not so much about realism vs. fantasy as it as about camp vs. grit OR appropriate vs. inappropriate.

Also, it has to do with verisimilitude and how much the world makes sense within the context of its own setting. Super skimpy armor comes much closer to violating that than shooting lightning, etc. does.

Adding skimpy-scanty clothing can be easily construed as pandering to hormone driven male adolescent and teen players through sexual exploitation of women, especially these days where we keep growing more and more sensitive to such things. You’d have to add 3 times as much non-skimpy armor alongside the more revealing one in order to dismiss most people’s skepticism about whether your motives are artistic expression or pure pandering.

However, if you are advocating for more revealing clothing on male characters, which is not regarded as pandering or exploitation by the general public(yet), then your chances are a lot better.

It is only an attack of you perceive it as such. It certainly isn’t one directed at anyone in particular to make it “personal”. It is however, something of a crass request. You could be more on topic however and say why it doesn’t work with the game. Attack his opinion, not him directly.

I’m sorry my witty comebacks aren’t good enough for you in a thread about some guy wanting to run around as a half naked woman. I’ll phone my parents up and tell them I failed them as a son.

I never said, I was attacking Women. I find people saying I am attacking women is offensive.

I ask skimpy armor for females as well as males. So who am I to be attacking?

No, because my main complaint is that this game has a bunch of women running around naked in all armor types but males get only 2 actually revealing armors that are both plate. Cloth and medium armor males get crap for revealing armor.

In fact, on the gem store armor, female medium armor is skin tight jeans, while males get yet another kitten trenchcoat, and a baggy one at that.

How many baggy clothes do male characters really need? Why can’t I even get non-baggy pants on medium armor? Everything medium for males is a kitten trenchcoat.
