We Need Gw1 Skins :)
If they do it will be a good news/bad news sort of thing.
The good news is, they bring back the skins you loved.
The bad news is, they can’t resist “improving” them.
Don’t believe me? Profane armor

C’mon dude, that’s not a remotely fair comparison. You stick ANYTHING on a Norn and dye it Power Rangers colours, it will look completely terrible.
Stick that Profance on a human male with the the first or second top-row body type, and dye it Necromancer colours, and it looks fine.
I do agree that it’s not as nice as the original – especially on females (it looks more suspender-y than thigh-boot-y), but that’s just lying with pictures!
Also Profane is the worst offender – the others are kind of okay. I’d love to see more GW1-style skins, myself, hopefully with more of an attempt to get them to look like the original (within reason).
I agree with Astral. The “improved” baby-blue zodiac weapons made me sad.
We want Gw1 skins
That said, yes there are a couple of skins I would very much like to buy. However, should these arrive in the form of BL tickets, I’ll have to pass. Those things are way, way, way overpriced.
On a sidenote, I think that Norn is hot. Now if we can finally get whips as a weapon…
We need a LOT from GW1.
A lot more than skins, things a lot more important than skins.
Yes, there were some nice armors in GW1, but come on…styles change in 250 years. I dare you to go out and spend a week in clothing made 250 years ago and not have people giggle at you.
All kidding aside, the armor skins in GW1 weren’t that spectacular. There were a couple of good ones (ritualist) and there were some horrid ones (remember all the naked and tattooed monks used by bot farmers?) but in general, they were not that great.
Admittedly, this is all my opinion, and I am sure that others have their own as well. I would rather see the devs spend their energies into designing new armor with decent skins than rehashes of old armor. I’d like to see more pants and robes, less trenchcoats and miniskirts. While they’re at it, I hope they design some heavy armor that doesn’t look like you’d stab yourself in the temple if you wave at someone.
Just my 2c worth.

Why so prickly?
They also messed up the Fellblade. It’s now a dull, rusty looking greatsword with a faint smoke coming off it.

I would love Gw1 skins to be released into Gw2, I would think it would add a lot of memories to the game, and the skins from Gw1 I really liked.

Why can’t you have both? New armour that evokes the cool elements of old armour? We see that a lot.
I find it awfully ironic that you go on about “clothes from 250 years ago” whilst asking for robes over trenchcoats, though…
Would love my Ranger skin from GW1
They failed so hard with the profane armor. From a great look in gw1 to a complete kitten look in gw2. Male that is..
Even after 250 years, you would think some of those skins would still be around even as displays. Why wouldn’t we see a Mursaat Hammer on display somewhere? Just weird that 99% of the skins don’t exist in one form or another.

Heh, the second picture kinda reminds me of either a transformer or a gundam.
Please give us a keyring…
Dev Room:
“Ok guys, lets put some good GW1 skin back in GW2…. where are the greatswords? WHAT!? GW1 Had no greatswords!??? Cancel the project… add more laser swords, they are cool”

And maybe some more shiny, pink and translucent elementary school backpacks. But not guildcapes, oh no! That would totally not fit with the game’s artstyle!
Heavy Armor was much more better looking in GW2, well, at least more diverse.
Why can’t we have heavry armor with skirt? I’d pay 800 Gems for that.
A cape back item would be so awesome! I want one now, and it needs a hoodie <3
But not guildcapes, oh no! That would totally not fit with the game’s artstyle!
Have they said they aren’t doing these, like officially?

Yes. There was a video interview with Colin Johanson where he says people are working on this on their own time. Apparently there are major technical difficulties with capes and how the characters move. And the way he phrased it, it was all races not just Charr.

If they’re working on them on their own time, doesn’t that mean that they are working on them, just that it’s not an official priority?
I find it hard to believe myself (as other games manage it – with clipping issues sure, but this game has plenty of those!), though Charr are obviously a problem – they could have something else, though.

They couldn’t do capes in 1 year, but put neon fairy wings in 1 week. Priorities are kitten up in ANet.

Wings, the way they have them, are a lot easier than capes, though, which is I think the cause of that. Wings which flapped smartly and folded and so on would be harder than capes, but we don’t have that.

I don’t see it, they could have linear capes that just flow their own way instead of being dynamic, we have certain light armor pieces that move already.
And on top of that there’s things like flow dynamically already as well, I just don’t get it.

Yeah I don’t get why they can’t have capes when they already have other back items which move dynamically. I expect we’ll see them eventually.
More GW1 armor skins would be the best thing ever.
Especially for heavy classes.

That armor skin looks so kitten. We need that in the game!
I agree that the visual updates on some of the guild wars weapons don`t look that good. In guild wars my favorite hammer used the magmaton model we have in gw2 but they added an ugly lava effect to it and now I don`t even want the hammer once I saw it. The ball hammer they use for the punisher model doesn`t look as nice as the one from the original too. I have nothing against weapons with the goofy effects on them for the people who are into that. I do think they could add a legacy line of items that look identical to the originals but have updates for reflection and gloss.

aw more like Voltron but back on topic . I would love more GW1 skins Mediums could especially use an update in this regard as there are too many trench-coats.
How about some drakescale

Keep in mind these are only some of my suggestions for medium from GW1 .
Honestly what i would really like to see is some profession specific armors that only that class could wear that would sold at vendors across Tyria with different looks depending on location
I want…
necro scar armor
monk tattoo armor
warrior kurzick armor
various monk armors remade for GW2 clothies (read: no skirts)
various ranger armors (read: not trenchcoats)
female elite druid ranger (sexy, nature, med armor)
[TTBH] [HATE], Yak’s Bend(NA)
Druid always looked way too skimpy to me

Nice selection… I’ll add Kurzik Ritualist armor for Necros.
Druid always looked way too skimpy to me
It absolutely is. But right now the only skimpy medium option is human T3. Everything else is bulky trenchcoats. I think the GW1 ranger armors are a good place to base new GW2 medium armor: slick, not trenchcoats, not frilly, adorned but tastefully….

agreed . Thats why i picked the armors i did in my post above . you should take a look
One thing we definitely need is more medium trench coats. Just not enough medium trench coats in the game…
/sarcasm
Space Marine Z [GLTY]

Don’t take it on bulky trenchcoats lol, I like them over skinny assasin like skins. That’s why I LOVE Norn Medium T1 and 2. 3 with that assasin mask looks childish.
Not true … exotic duelist armor for medium is just as skimpy as the human T3. But that leaves you with two to pick from, and only 1 if you’re playing anything other than a human …
- Some random quote -
The Walkers and the Whispers, ANVIL ROCK
Loved many of the gw1 weapon skins
many of which could be dyed as well
some of the remade gw1 weapons in gw2 don’t look as great while others look amazing
picture for reference

Yeah but that’s the male version, most of the male armor in this game is… who designs this stuff?!? lol :P
But the female version, well mostly why I made a female mesmer. Though in gw1 I have it on my nec/rng bow minion. Went with celestial and gold here rather than the black there.
Kurzick and Luxon Assassin medium armor and Necro Elite Scar plz. All skirt-free.
