Simplest solution:

Send every character a free 20 slot bag, any other guaranteed items acquired and another bag that has a chance to contain any of the random items available at the end of the event, whether they participated or not.

This will be the most viable solution to fix what was admittedly a poorly executed event.

This will be the most viable solution to fix what was admittedly a poorly executed event.

Put a bow on the bag include a note saying happy wintersday cost perhaps one hour for a programer?

A lot less than the cost of leaving the problem unsolved.

I am almost tempted to say what about those of use who got hardly any drops from all those vet kills, and only recieved crappy chest rewards (even the 10 slot box was useless on the character that got it because they are getting 20 slot boxes.

Jormag, Tequatl, Shatterer…. repeatedly sending the elder dragons into… into… off-stage land? Coffee breaks? but Ancient Karka gets no repeatableness??

I go to Southsun Cove for ancient wood and an orichalcum ore once in a while, but nothing else.

I disconnected from Ancient Karka event when it reached the nearest waypoint to the cave (Captain place), and was not able to get back in. Defeat waves of Champ and Vet Karka was not enjoyable. The stages of putting boulders into guisers (make shift cannons) and the destroy the wall (collapse rocks) on the Karka were creative, but waves of Karka that have a health bar for shell, then another health bar for flesh… Lag to the point of not being able to see the NPC “tells” showing about to roll in a direction… not so much fun. Then to disconnect… well, i imagined new emotes from the anger of that situation /kickbaby (spawns a baby next to character and its kicked by character); /flingpoo (character throws dark material at screen and it goes dark), & /unplugPC (character disappears during a flash of light that blinds all nearby). 0o

I think I read they (Anet) are considering modifying Southsun Cove, which leaves the potential of seeing/doing/beating Ancient Karka again… i guess. /shrug. +That Loot Bugged thread & Orr events being bugged too often… been playing Planetside2 till GW2 gets straightened out. sigh The guild is dong the same.

Hope they were’t waiting for the rage to die down …and that people wouldnt forget the issue and move on just they promised a fixed for the lost CE‘s mini-rytlock for that they mentioned a surefire retrieval method so what now?

wow… they didn’t even HAVE to do this and you demand it like a little brat. They already said in the AMA they’re working on it. A little patience kitten before the devs cut the communication with us for good due to this kitteny attitude?

I don’t understand why you continue to be allowed to post in these forums when EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOUR POSTS is a transparent attempt at starting a flamewar for absolutely no reason.

I would assume it would take a while to prove who was actually there and whos lying about not getting the chest. Sounds like that would be pretty hard to do and would take a very long time to make it fair for everyone.

Seeing the servers were creaking like the knee joints in a geriatric NY marathon who was there and couldnt get in/there and couldnt get to the chest/there and got kicked might be hard to prove.
Gives you two choices, spend a ton of time and recources trying to work out who was where when or give a reward pack of some sort to everyone.

Yes there will be people that say i spent 3hours doing it no one else deserves it but there were people that spent 2hours 59 minutes doing it that missed out.
When there do you draw the line, logged in , logged in the instance, logged in the instance and got xxx kills, you cant make it “fair” to everyone but you can minimise the angst and the cost by keeping the solution simple.

Well some of us still having the stuff left over from doing the phases, ie the map fragments and soggy bag that Head Researcher Levvi didn’t take from my pack. As to how to prove we were actually at Lost Shores but didn’t complete the event for whatever reason, the only way I guess they could do that is to check and see if we have the waypoints but not the reward bag. Since this turned out to be repeatable for every character if they managed to get on an overflow that hadn’t yet finished it, it would only be fair to those who didn’t exploit that by checking each character to see how far each character had gotten in the phases, those were supposed to be how you qualified to even be able to do the final event, correct?

I got the phase 1&2 done on 1 character. Phase 2 on another (phase 1 was bugged for that guy). and no phases for my 3rd 80 ranked character. I did phase 3 with my #2. I do not believe there was a qualifying aspect to participating in phase 3. Players from my guild did not do phase 1 or 2 (didn’t want to login from hearing the anger in Ventrillo from phase 1&2 bugs), then they logged in for phase 3 and participated.

Phase 3, I’d guess a log per server, per instance. With character data. Create a search (if its not easily observed) for character names during those events. Create a list of characters present during the event. Cross reference those names with time event started and ended, with disconnects, and character names that are one more than one event list. Did they disconnect and get into another? Perhaps a list of those that got loot can be used to slim down the event list towards the characters of interest (did not get loot).

That was kinda my point, if Anet can check to see who tried to participate but couldn’t and does so, instead of trying to shuffle everyone off with some excuse as to why they won’t, should then give some kind of compensation to those who tried. Whether that just be the achievements for the event or the 20 slot bag or a loot bag with the same chance at the goodies from the huge chest at the end or all of the above, that would be up to Anet to decide which would garner more goodwill.

This is how they’ll do it, they’ll create a tool to see who attacked the Antient Karka but didn’t get the chest, they’ll see if they were disconnected during an active event then reconnected (within a short time period) and logged into same character and into an instance where the event was over, and if so flag the character … then they’ll create an npc you have to talk to who will see if your character was flagged and if so give you random stuff like everyone else got and unflag the character.

Now, when that happens, and it could take some time to sort through all the data, wait for the posts about getting crap like alot of people did.

I hope not, what if, like in my case, you played through on an overflow server right up until almost the end of the event (almost 3 hours), got disconnected, logged back in to find yourself in a different server where the event was on one of the initial stages, and ragequit because you were in Australia, it was a Monday morning, and you had to go to work so couldn’t afford to waste another 3 hours?

If the issue is wide-spread and hit many people, then their task is going to be phenomenally grand.

They are working on it. Unless you’re being sent to the moon within the next week or so, i’m hopeful you guys can be patient and understanding.

Considering their servers did not crash, and your own ISPs are possibly (don’t take that as an attack) to blame, then I think it’s fair enough.
