We need a major change in the game
[MM]Midnight Mayhem
Why do you think “most” players do that?
An expansion isn’t going to come that soon, but I’m sure they’re working towards one.
i have some friends that play gw2 that doesnt come to the game anymore because they have nothing to do in the game
[MM]Midnight Mayhem
This game has no “End Game” and if you are getting tired of playing, there’s like 5 big MMO’s due out this year and I doubt all will have a sub, I myself am looking forward to ESO and Wildstar Online, I might also check out Archeage.
GW2 is losing almost all it’s players cause Anet nerf’s everything, doesn’t know how to code real boss mechanics to make a boss fight last longer then 1 min, and they don’t think the game needs permanent content, they think every player is a casual player and they are wrong, they think that they know what everyone enjoys and they will soon learn that the game is falling apart around them, and they will wonder why…

iam i the only one that think that the game gets a little repetetive at the EndGame content ? yeah the new content that will come " Dragon Bash " will be great but the game is 10 months old i think , Anet when are you guys thinking of making a expansion for the game ?
i read that you guys dont have any plans for a expansion but its getting repetetive and players are getting tired and tired of playing , most players now log 5 mins do the daily and leaveSo iam i the only one that thinks that the game needs a expansion right now ?
This game is like God of War console game. It amazing, everything is cool, you complete a bunch of challenges do a ton of badassery and then put it on a shelf, maybe dust it off to show a friend, or two. Move on and wait for the next big title.
i have some friends that play gw2 that doesnt come to the game anymore because they have nothing to do in the game
I think this is everyone’s friend list atm. Mine is a ghost town most of the time these days, but don’t get discouraged. Stick it out for a while longer, I have a feeling we may be getting some content with some meat on it coming down the pipe soon.
I try to give MMO’s the benefit of the doubt these days. I’m giving Anet a few more months of me doing the daily and WvW. By then they should have more in game for us to do I believe.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.

I actually didn’t realize some of what he said in this video. I will not spend another cent of real cash in the gem store now. Very disheartening that NCsoft completely controls the purse strings.
“I’m from America I don’t like gambling in my games and NCsoft should wise the kitten up” Best quote from the whole video btw.

Maybe you just make friends that play the same way you do. And I make friends that play the same way I do, because my friends list hasn’t substantially changed at all…except that it’s grown. Most of the people here at launch are still here.
Its really sad that NcSoft spent all the gw2 money that they won from players spending theyre reall money thinking that the money they just spent was going to new content for gw2 but no it goes to another games of ncsoft

And what makes you say this?
are you kidding me? all of my friends still play. litteraly all of em. and theres soooooooooo much to do in the game. just because you cant grind the same raid. dosnt mean theres nothing to do. raiding isnt everything.
if you read into the game b4 release u woulda know. whole game is “end game” and if you cant lvie with that. go play smthing else.
so tired of these “ohh im 80 now what posts” plz for the love of god. stop making these and go play smthing else dont ruin the game for the rest of us……. (sry for a bit of ranting. needed it to get out :P

This is probably true to some extent and some of my guild has come back for a stent just to play the new content, but that’s about it.

If they paid me, I probably wouldn’t work this hard. That’s like asking a football fan how much the team pays him to be a fan. Silly question when you think about it.
i know that the game is new but it gets a little repetetive but lets wait a few more months for an expansion

I never really understood when people say this. If you are not playing or not going to play anymore what is the point in logging in for 5 minutes just to do a daily? If you are bored and not playing then there doesn’t seem to be a reason spending those 5 minutes doing so.

The dontain video has been partly debunked in these forums enough times now im surprised it still gets raised. Poorly researched, dire and biased journalism. I really wouldnt use it in an argument.
I have plenty of gripes with the game atm, prob due to overplaying it tbh. But, its a game they are evolving. Gw prophecies was the same. Dull, tedious with a badly written story. Look at the gem of a game that rose from those early days.
To answer your question, yeah id li,e an expansion too
This game needs more WvW love- a quality WvW scene will keep a rabid, advocating fanbase for decades.
My moves are fresh, like my groceries.

Almost as silly as you butting into every conversation like a bull hellbent on forcing everyone to agree with you that this game is the best thing since sliced bread and the second coming of Jesus Christ. It gets old, and for a an oldie you sure do act like a petty child all day about video games.

This is pretty funny. I’ve been far more reasonable than you have. I’m not angry. I’m not name calling or attacking personally. You are. That means you’re the one frothing at the mouth, I’m the one having a discussion.
I don’t expect everyone to agree with me, and mostly I’m not even posting for you. There are a whole lot of lurkers who benefit from seeing some of the nonsense posted here debunked, or even just another point of view.
If you had your way only people who agree would be allowed to post. I’m the reasonable one here. You’re the one who’s on the war path.

Bet him E-dollars, just to make him go through all his bazillion posts to find where he said “ANet/GW2 isn’t perfect”.
Bet him E-dollars, just to make him go through all his bazillion posts to find where he said “ANet/GW2 isn’t perfect”.
Easy to find, since I’ve been pretty vocally negative about the RNG cash boxes that keep coming up.
It wouldn’t be hard for me to find at all. I was generally against ascended gear as well, even though I understood why it was introduced. I don’t like the way the personal story ended (as far as having to play through a dungeon when the rest of it was solo, or that you saw other people in the Arah story mode cut scene instead of your character). I don’t even particularly like that world completion requires WvW and I’ve spoken out against that.
There’s more, but you get the idea.
As with almost all posts, both sides have valid points (but, as usual, rely on sarcasm or overbloated examples to try and get their point across).
Reality is, we have no idea how the money from GW2 store sales is spent. However, I think it is unreasonable (and extremist) to believe none of that money is making it back into GW2. At the same time, it is unreasonable to believe that none of it is being spent on operational or infrastructure projects (or even other company projects). Anyone who thought otherwise simply doesn’t understand how businesses work.
Keep in mind that it was probably money from other projects that made GW2 possible in the first place.
People tend to oversimplify these things in attempts to prove the exact points they are trying to make, when the truth is things are never that simple. I’m sure much of the money is making it back into GW2, but much is probably being spent on many other things (just as revenue from those other games is being spent to make GW2 better – its called diversifying your portfolio and it can be a good thing).
To the OP’s original point, I think the developers are still trying to find their cadence and balance with game updates. The best thing the community can do is continue to make level-headed posts (I know these are rare) about the direction we would like to see the game take.
I, like many, still enjoy the game alot, but would like to see more challenging content – specifically, I want them to revamp the dungeons to include content that rewards working together (AC was a baby step in this direction) and communicating more – and to add more types of, and polish to, guild missions (which were a huge step in the right direction).

You mean the same copy and pasted complaints, over and over again, in thread after thread, most of which are the opinions of people who want to play a game that this game is not.
Yep, that’s what I thought you meant.
i have some friends that play gw2 that doesnt come to the game anymore because they have nothing to do in the game
I had all my friends and my entire guild leave except for 1, and they have not been on since before the first of the year. I was ready to leave myself, then I did what was needed to make the game fun again, I found some new friends and a new guild.
I have been much happier in game ever since.
We? Everybody’s friend list?
So all those people swarming around me when I’m trying to do an event are some kind of ghosts?
Oh wait, I get it, they must be bots right?
Same with all my guildies and followers online most of the time right?
OH MY GOOD! EVERYTHING IS A LIE!
Whatever, next time use “I need” instead and “MY friend list” and stop talking for me.
Also, as many already said, leave, the whole world is full of games with lots of things to do and most are or are going F2P.
I’m pretty sure the hundreds of people buying gems with real money and the thousands playing the game will not miss you.
-ArenaNet
I can’t believe people are going against buying gems because it’s going to another company. That’s just flat out ridiculous, regardless if Korea has 80% of the market share for this game; it is still inherently western.
Furthermore, refusing to buy gems only makes it worse were they cut funding and less content comes out.
I don’t care who my money goes to, as long as they provide content updates. However, I will agree that their updates are quite lack luster and they need to work on making more quality content.
The problem with Gems is… it’s not actually “Player Driven” when like 40% of the exchange is “Gold Sinked” and Double-Taxed or Triple-Taxed by the double & triple whammey of how much is taken back out by NCsoft first in the Exchange itself and then again by the 15% TradingPost sink. You can’t call any economy “player driven prices” when 2/3’s of the Price was artificially inflated by a huge Penalty Tax or Gold-Sink. Is it any wonder so many people go to Gold-Sellers instead??
Why do you think “most” players do that?
“Most” players left either 2 weeks, or 2 months after the game came out.
Most of them b/c they raced to End-Game, crafted everything they could reasonably afford, and then burnt out instantly b/c the only thing they were good at was power-leveling but the Dungeons were too “hard” for them to understand what was happening b/c they came from WoW. …and then they immediately returned to WoW for Pandas & Pokemon just like everyone said they would.
Do the math 3 million sales in its first year… Hardly 300,000 still playing with any regularity at all. Yeah they got their $60 dollars worth b/c a Buck doesn’t go very far these days and “MOST” of them all got atleast 50 hours of playtime just like they’d get out of the next COD or Asn’s Creed or Bioshock or w/e. But the argument that a lot of people are leaving now, doesn’t hold any impact compared to how many left long ago.

I’d buy gems if there was something worth buying in the first place, yeah I’m talking about those lame town clothes (that DO look awesome) that I can’t even combat in.
Oh I miss GW1 costume system so bad… that alone is probably losing them a ton of money. Seriously, why the petty restrictions? They’re everywhere.
To point out, I am having fun still with this game, so stop saying everyone. Cause Im not among this supposed everyone.
iam i the only one that think that the game gets a little repetetive at the EndGame content ? yeah the new content that will come " Dragon Bash " will be great but the game is 10 months old i think , Anet when are you guys thinking of making a expansion for the game ?
i read that you guys dont have any plans for a expansion but its getting repetetive and players are getting tired and tired of playing , most players now log 5 mins do the daily and leaveSo iam i the only one that thinks that the game needs a expansion right now ?
Stop asking for an expansion.
Ask for:
- Class balance
- Permanent content
- RNG/DR fixes
- Dungeon reworks
- New game mechanics
- Anything
…but don’t ask for an “expansion”!!!
When you ask for an expansion, what you’re saying is: “I like the current state of the game and want more of what we currently have!” It means you like getting kitten on by rng and broken mechanics and the current state of risk/reward – which should not be the case. This game has problems huge ones and simply slapping a band-aid of ‘expansion’ on it isn’t going to stop the internal bleeding fast enough.

I’m in that category. I can’t farm. I login to just do the new content which lasts 2 days max for me. I do the solo stuff. I login to do dailies in between. Nothing else is appealing. And the only reason I login to do dailies is due to the Tier 6 mats i can get from laurels because really I don’t want anything they have to offer us in the laurel vendor that one must save for.
I tried enjoying the scenery and just watching the npc’s but really there’s only so much of that you can do before it becomes redundant and boring.
As far as fanboyism goes, I was the biggest fanboy for this game. I really was in the beginning. Anyone said a negative thing i went and researched it and told them off. Since November I see that some of the warnings some people were offering up evidence for were really true and I’ve since gone back and apologized for my actions. I can’t really tell you how disappointed I am or express fully in open forums here about what really happened with their philosophy and their post launch shift in reverse but I can say that it was not at all a good business practice. No one can simply tell people they are planning to do one thing with a game and then do the exact opposite and not expect their customers to be mad at them for it.

Actually no one has any idea of the numbers including me. A good percentage of the people who “had left” that I know are back playing again…even though they left on month two. We’ve seen many posts from them on these forums.
Since you don’t know how many of the people who left has returned, it’s all a moot point anyway. You’re guessing. You really have no idea how many people are playing this game. Only Anet knows.
I’d guess it’s more like 600,000 because if you do the math on server numbers, you have both Europe and the US to content with and the game is still being played on both sides of the divide.
But that doesn’t take into account people who log in to do new content. People who log in a couple of times a week, people who take a longer break, because you can with this game.
It’s just not that easy to throw out numbers. What you’re really doing is making it up.
I seen Vayne’s postings in the other GW2 forum that isn’t GW2 Guru. I think the guy just loves the game. A little too much if you ask me but hell I’m that way with zombie films
Actually I don’t love the game. I like the steps the game has taken in the genre. That is to say, I have always seen the potential of MMORPGs but I’ve never found one I’ve liked enough to stick with until now.
The game has flaws. Every game has flaws. Out of all the MMOs I’ve tried, this one is the best so far but there needs to be a lot of changes before this is a great game.
It’s a good game, though. Which is more than I can say for the rest of the MMOs I’ve played.

I believe this is where I’m supposed to say “you hit the nail on the head.” Never really got that phrase, but there it is. Anyway, I agree.

When you hit the nail on the head, you drive it in deep (as oppose, I supposed to missing the head, when you smash your thumb with the hammer lol.).
I think the expansion will come out after the gem store sales fall. They don’t really have a reason to put one out when they are doing so well. The initial box sales from release then the holidays have fell off and now they are pumping stuff into the store pretty heavily. Once people get tired of the furry hats we might get one.

You could also say “you sank my battleship!” and no one else will get it, either.
