We need clear message when DR kicks in
I have a solution for you: don’t farm.
I see nothing different in Anets DR to other MMO’s.. maybe a different skin on the mechanic, but the same result….
Then again I don’t think I have ever had an issue in GW2 with DR or not so that its noticeably bad and I do the same thing when I need certain things in game I go run the things that can provide me with it. I just don’t camp the same boss or respawning mobs for hours, I just run through maps and hope I get lucky then rinse repeat till the matchsticks finally break and poke me in the eye, a sure way of telling me its time to mix up my gameplay some more….I laugh at those people camping the Grawl in Timberline Falls for whole days or those that have to resort to hacking so they can farm nodes and trees.. at least farming maps is less mind numbing than that IMO.
I have never hit DR- here is a solution for you:
play the maps collects any mats, sure you can play on a map that would give you what you want.
Sell all the mats you collected and buy the specifics you need off the tp to make up shortfall.
So far that has worked great for me and even made me money
Letting you know you hit the DR would entirely defeat its purpose. It is there to STOP people from farming efficiently. If you were told you hit DR you’d simply move to another area and continue farming optimally.
I agree with the OP. That DR is nasty, and it makes me paranoid that I’m just wasting my time when I’m looking for specific crafting components.

If you’re farming a certain component, you’re likely already wasting your time. You could be doing almost anything else and selling whatever you get to buy those resources instead without having to worry about DR. If it’s bothering you, don’t farm. I haven’t really had any trouble getting my mats and I haven’t really gone out of my way to get them. I just sell the random stuff I get to buy the things I’m missing.

I thought it was there to stop the bots. Why would they want to stop regular players from playing the way they want?

Because there’s virtually no difference between the effects a bot and a player dedicated to farming have on what passes for an economy ingame.

And yet the best possible way of avoiding DR is to look at what’s dropping for you. The drops themselves are an indicator of when DR kicks in.
In Orr, when DR kicks in, you start getting shedloads of porous bones. You see that, and you move one elsewhere. Simple.
