I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.
Hey Anet, there’s been alot of negativity on this board lately, so I just wanted to pop on and let ya know that we are noticing the small things you add to this game to make it better.
There was a quote from a dev floatin’ around here not so long ago what said, “we also notice the things ya don’t say” and mentioned adding 40 new little quests around Halloween and nobody saying anything about them. So, I thought I should say somethin’.
First, referring ta this, Tyria’s a big place and allota times you can fill your requirements in an area without hitting alla the jobs. Hearts with requirements like “help the farmers in Queensdale” leaves alot of room for people to not do the Spiders in the Trees, or the Apple Gathering, or Repair the kitten , jobs. (yeah, I know they’re called something else, but I think you all know what I’m talking about) So when we run into a new quest, we’re not always sure it is new, or just something we missed the first time through. This is a good thing! This means you’ve got enough variety in the zones that not everyone has ta hit every single job to clear the map.
Many times when I’m goin’ back to a zone at higher level I find stuff I missed the first time and ask, “is this new or did I miss it before?”. Don’t think that because we didn’t mention it we didn’t see it. Which brings me to the second point on that quote – sometimes I DO hit a quest I know wasn’t there the first time and I get excited to see something different … but I don’t rush to the forums ta talk about every single thing I enjoy in the game. (I’m not one of those what feels I need to rush in and post about every little thing I don’t like, either)
For example, I love missions where I get to pick up new items and weapons to complete the job. These add a fun, new set of weapon skills – or whatnot – I get ta try out and I look forward to these missions. But I didn’t know I was supposed to run back here every time and talk about how much I liked them in order for the dev team to realize I was having fun. That makes me sad.
But, since I’m here I wanted to comment on some big and little things that have changed and which I am grateful for.
Divinity’s Reach; thank you for replacing the sinkhole with the Queen’s Pavilion, this really creates the feeling that all those tools and workers we saw earlier in the year were doing something instead of just being window dressing.
I also love the fact that some of the ambient conversations have changed. I really enjoy just listening to NPCs talk while I’m runnin’ around the city. (and the world as a whole) It makes things feel much more alive. Just like adding a couple little alcove shops, a tavern and a poi what wasn’t there before.
Lion’s Arch; is constantly changing. The Lion was destroyed and didn’t just magically reappear the next day. The lands around the city are changing as refugees try to make new homes here. Our semi-new evil trade consortium working at the edges of the city. Then things like Beached Whales and talks of pirates … changes that people get to notice and appreciate.
When stealing from the evil clockwork golem things, now, the Thief gets a different object to use – it’s a small thing, but it’s great to see and I really hope to see more of that with new monsters. (I may be in the minority, but I also really like the way clockworks can repair each other if you don’t smash ‘em when they’re down. This adds a new concern to the battle and stuff for the mostly non-combat players [healers, trappers, buffers] to do instead of trying to face the horde head on.)
I also notice when music is changed or – it seems to me – added where it wasn’t before.
And the changes to mobs, where they start using their skills better, or gain a new skill or two ta keep us on our toes; I love it!
So, before this gets much longer, I jus’ wanted ta say that we do appreciate the small things you’re adding to the game – they are not going unnoticed.
Thank you
I also appreciate the work put in this beautiful world, but I think that while we are staring at those nice and precious stones lying down on the ground we have to think to the Pi/2
