Hey everyone. I’ve never tought about this situation, but what happens if I swap to a weapon that has vitality stats on it, and what happens if I swap back?

Lets say I play my mesmer with staff + GS for WvW. My GS is berserker and my staff is … soldier I beleve? (power, vita, toughness).

So I’ve got my staff equiped, 20’000 HP (examples). Now I swap to GS, 19’000 HP. If I swap back I’ve got again 20’000 HP. At least thats what happens ooc. But what happens if I’m in combat???

15’000/20’000 HP -> swap -> 14’000 or still 15’000? And what happens vice versa?
15’000/19’000 HP -> swap -> 16’000 or still 15’000? Is Vita pretty much useless as a weapon stat like this? :S (dropped ascended staff, <3)

ty vm for explanations!

greez!

If you have your berserker’s equipped and your hp is 14000/19000 changing to a weapon with vit would make you 14000/20000, it doesn’t raise your current hp just your max.

Why on earth are you using both GS and a Staff is the real question.

interruption build – not pve ofc :P wanna try some stuff in wvw
maybe gs + sword/focus is more effective. dunno, have to test, never did wvw before :o

the question is, if i got 20’000 HP and get hit, down to 19’000 and i swap, i will keep my 19’000? If I got 19’000 and am in combat and swap, I will have 19’000/20’000 right? ooc i would keep the 20’000? i’m a little bit confused :o

The answers to your question is no. If you swap to a weapon that increases your HP, you will get the HP boost, no matter if you are in or out of combat. However, your HP will remain the same % before and after you swap.

To take your example: You have 2 weapon sets, one that gives 20.000 HP and one that gives 19.000 HP.

You start with the 20.000 HP weapon, get hit for 1000. That leaves you with 19.000 out of 20.000 HP, or 95%

Now you swap to the 19.000 (at full health) weapon. The game will not substract the 1000 damage you took and leave you with 18.000.

Instead, the game calculates the % you had with the previous weapon set and apply it to the new max HP, i.e 0.95 × 19.000 = 18050

Another example: One weapon set 20.000 HP, other 16.000HP
You start with the 16.000 set and take 12.000 damage. That leaves you with 4000/16.000 or 25%

Swapping to the 20k set would give you 0.25 × 20.000 = 5000 HP, a 1000 HP increase, even though the increase at full health is 4000.

Hope this clears things up.

So I actually can heal more if I heal myself on a low vit wapon and swap after it? :o Hm… ok. Not really sure how to use this system effective.
