Weapon swap for Engineer and Elementalist
As ive said in other threads, we swap our weapons(at least Eles do) OOC already before rushing back into combat. aside from coding it would just be a QOL of feature.
The reason for both professions is the way they switch between certain mechanics. For elementalists they switch between elements, fire, water, air, and earth. For engineers they have their kits PLUS their weapons they can switch to, as well as turrets.
Anet reasoned that because these two professions have more versatility than the other classes, that is why they don’t get weapon swap. They seem to be doing the same thing to Revenant though it kinda doesn’t work with them after playing the beta.

They’ve never responded to any elementalist thread asking about it. If they ever do it it’s probably not based on our feedback but instead because they had something else in mind.
Yeah, it would be really nice to do that out of combat. It get’s pretty annoying to constantly swap it manually with the hero window.
I have no problem with an OOC weapon swap for those professions as long as I get to save and have a second set of weapons to swap to OOC for my other professions. For example my Mesmer:
I run GS/Sword/Focus most of the time so when OOC I also get a chance to, for example, swap with one click to Scepter/Pistol/Sword/Sword without having to move weapons around in my hero panel.
Win win for everyone.

Can agree with this, even though all the other classes currently have two equip-able weapon sets. Everyone wins with this, and it makes sense the more i think about it.

And do you miss the posts where we say give everyone an OOC swap to a new weapon set would also be acceptable? Even those with in combat weapon swap?
Then it’s win/win and everyone gets to keep the same number of skills.

Stop saying that. We do it already in PVP and WVW anyways. Because as you say, going OOC is easy, and having our inventory’s open at the same time while playing is easy as well. It makes no difference if ANET supported the idea or if they dont. Its a QOL feature for something we already do. As has been said over and over again.

Yeah I already do this…. At first I was going to defend you on thinking you may have meant un/ranked where currently utilities and weapons get locked in (and I would argue it should stay this way for that particular mode(s). But then you went and specifically said sPVP where we already change weapons all the time while OCC with a simple couple fast clicks.

Rather just let them implement a scalable (weapons, skills, traits, armour. Only the one only the other, some, all etc.) template system, it would fit your needs a lot better.
It does make sense. Its doable now with inventory open and this would be a great wol feature without any balancing issues resulting
I’ve wanted the same thing for a long time when I played Elementalist. The main reason I feel they never implemented this and probably never will is because it would be too “confusing” to newer players.

We would see this garbage everywhere. Still, the QOL for people who spend the ten seconds required to learn that eles can’t weapon swap in combat would be absolutely amazing. I’d want to play my ele more if I could do this.

You can’t switch weapon in SPVP. (Hotjoin is NOT “STANDARD” PVP)
Also, you can do that in WvW, but it’d usually be annoying to do so, so it’d discourage players from doing it, which is intended.
Agreed, but do this for all professions: let us have at least 2 OOC weapon swaps. It really sucks to look after your other weapon if you want to change it, altogether with templates we already had in GW1 – why didn’t anet implement this in the first place? That’s really mind-boggling.

I would love to have an OOC weapon swap for my Ele for WvW (without having to hassle with the inventory), especially for roaming and getting from point A to B faster.

Unlike the Warrior (who has Healing Signet that auto heals you to max), an Ele has to either get a regeneration boon up or flail around with Signet Of Restoration being in constant danger of hitting something (like neutral wildlife) and be in combat again.

I’m agree. I really like this idea. But like other is just a good idea that no body will read and apply.

It’d be bad for PvP. If they disabled it in PvP/WvW I wouldn’t have a problem with it.

I main ele. In pve, www or pvp normally I don’t have any issue with this.
BUT in new stronghold map I couldn’t switch my staff away even I was dead, or in our base. I was stuck with my staff whole match, dagger/focus sitting in my inventory, getting my kitten kicked with thiefs and hammer warriors. Not fun.
You know, they could make it so OOC swapping puts a 2 second cooldown on all weapon skills to make it less likely to be abused. It’s seriously only meant to be a convenience to partially avoid this whole “running around with inventory open” meta.

That is what I was thinking as well yesterday. A build/template of my available stuff so I would not have to go 20 places just to get everything reset to where I want it.

I can see (although I do not agree with) them disallowing swapping with the ele. The engineer though? I never use my toolbelt.

you can also right-click and assign to your weapon slots individually.
yes, this is more than a one-button solution that every one else gets.

AAaaaandddd thats why we are asking for an OOC ONLY weapon slot, and will probably continue to ask for it. We already do it in PVE, WVW, and Hotjoin in PVP. you cant swap weapons in Unranked if i recall, and im not sure on ranked but i dont see why it would be any different. So this is a QOL feature for something we already do, quite a bit, there shouldnt be any problems to this at all, considering we already do it whenever we want OOC.

In the main set and secondary set areas you simply cycle through these 5 predefined sets. Engineers and Eles only have access to the main set, but can cyle it normally outside of combat.
It would be a great QoL improvement, but I really doubt Anet ever implement something like that. IMO it’s slightly more probable they implement some kind of “Build Selector” that could include the weapons along armor, skills and traits.

That would be fantastic. For my Ele and Engi its not so much the ability to swap with one button, but the time it takes to have to put everything back afterwards as, even with equipment bags, my weapons end up getting put in my main bags. Having a set of templates where I can store them would solve this for me.
Really, every profession needs build/gear templates, which would solve this for Eles and Engies as well.
I would love to see templates and easy switching for the other classes as well, but this seemed like a far easier feature to implement, and would at least help with the issue of weapon displacement when switching between two weapons with one two-handed weapon.
I’d love to see ooc wep swap, for the convenience and also for the stacks, which I lose everytime I swap weapons as an ele (you can only keep the stacks if swapping under water and you have same stacking sigil on water wep).
I can agree with a weapon swap out of combat, but honestly, a build swap would be better, and not just for eles, but for all classes.
Make it so that you can equip two builds and two sets of gear at a time for each character that you can quick swap between outside of combat. That way you wouldn’t have to go through the fuss of changing gear or traits between different encounters.
