Weapon swapping [suggestion]
Don’t get your hopes up, friend.
I don’t even know how to respond to this…
I think that’s too big of a change too far into the game. That and I don’t think it’d be fair for Elementalists or Engineers.
Plus having that range of skills is one unique aspect of the Elementalist. If you want that range of skills then play one.
So long Treeface.
“…Kormir? I know not of whom you speak.”
eles have a spectrum of elemental skills which others don’t have.
eles have a spectrum of elemental skills which others don’t have.
That spectrum of skills is still set around a single weapon. You like the staff fireskills, but like the D7D water skills more?? suck it up, cause you can’t mix those. With weaponswapping you can choose the flavours you can swap to. With ele, it is only a choice for all ice in the bowl and no mix ’n match.
Weaponswap between 4 weapons would be a serious disbalance of the game and make ele’s and engineers in a bad spot cause they can’t
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
allow weapon swap for ele and engis but when they swap weapons, only half of their F skills can be used for one weapon and the other half for the other weapon. so f1 – f2 would be for one weapon and f3 – f4 would be for the other weapon.

Well of course. They’re Elementalists. That’s why they can use the elements.

This would still be unfair. There’s a reason why Eles and Engies don’t weapon swap. It has to do with the flavour of the class. If you don’t like the flavour of the class you’re playing, then switch.
Again, if you want that range of skills, then play an Ele or Engy.

I still stand by this. There would be no way we’d get this anytime soon, if at all (and I doubt we’d get it at all).

The difference in versatility between being locked to 4 skillsets based on your weapons and choosing which 2 combinations to use is high.
If other professions get 4 weapons to choose from then eles and engies should get weapon swap too (2 weapon sets) to keep it balanced
If other professions get 4 weapons to choose from then eles and engies should get weapon swap too (2 weapon sets) to keep it balanced
But then there’s still things like engies having kits, necros having death shroud, etc. Some professions would still have more available skills than others.
Let’s look at it for a second. The first number is the amount of skills each profession has access to right now in one build. The number in parenthesis is the amount they would have with what you’ve suggested – including profession specific skills, bundles and transformations;
Ele – 48 (68)
Mes – 19 (29)
Necro – 26 (36)
Engy – 40 (45)
Ranger – 22 (32)
Thief – 17 (27)
Guard – 18 (28)
War – 35 (45)

Nope, it’s not. Simply giving each class another weapon set (or two) does not balance the amount of available skills out at all. This game isn’t about making all the classes have the same amount of available skills. That would be hella boring.
The way each class has it’s own flavour is great. I don’t want my necro to feel the same as my warrior or my thief. The distinct differences in each class are what make them unique. Trying to make it “fair” to all classes by giving them the same amount of skills to use on the fly would take away the feel of each individual class. If something like this was implemented it would probably start to feel like ESO.
Also note that each class has a different base health pool, with Ele having the lowest one available, which would possibly be why they have the highest amount of skills.
I think the thing people aren’t realising is that as it is it’s balanced (or as near enough as can be). Giving more skills out doesn’t mean it will balance anything at all.
Leave it as is. It’s fine. You want more variety in your skills? Play an Ele.

the number of weapon skills for ele and engi doesn’t change for the half and half thing i said but having more weapons to swap to for the others would increase their amount of quick swappable skills would (probably to something as mentioned above).
pressing f1 or f2 would use skills from one weapon and pressing f3 or f4 would use skills from another weapon so number of available skill doesn’t change. skill types are mixed from two different weapons instead.
other professions would have skill types from four weapons instead of two and would have a similar amount of skills as do eles and engi though.
this could be an upgrade and balance to the current weapon skill bar.
this is a number balance while professions still have their uniqueness as ele’s uniqueness is mentioned above. eles and engis just currently have quick access to more skills than others at the moment.

they may have access to more skills with their setup, but on any given build how many of the ele’s skills are usable, you’ll find that most builds ignore 5 – 10 of the skills throughout the 4 attunements, depending upon how they currently have their build setup (hell most ele’s stick in fire 90% of the time anyway outside of pvp)
for engis, having a second weapon would only increase the number of skills slightly but if that’s too much then removing some F key skills when swapping weapons is selected could help offset the increased number of skill though.
My last comments on this topic are these;
- It’s too late into the game to make a radical change like this
- I feel that it would get way too cluttered
- The classes are this way for a reason
And last, but certainly not least;
- If you want more available skills, play an ele or engy
tl;dr stop trying to make more weapon swaps happen. They’re not going to happen.

4 weaponsets = Godmode xD
To overpowered. Imagine the rotations you could make with 4 weaponsets.
Even 3 weaponsets would be already overpowered xD

No No No,
Balance means that classes are as viable as others. This would make both engineer AND ele way too OP. thats no balance at all.
The simple fact remain, even with half-half, you give the ele more mix ‘n match and so allow them to make much more possible combo’s, many of them way too powerfull. The limitation is there for a very very important reasons. So just stop it please!

What did I just read…
^ that’s for ele skills.
It’s not OP enough.
My staff elementalist regularly uses all the fire skills, water #5, and earth #3 in combat. The others skills only see very limited situational use, and i only use lighting to change the attunement of glyph of storms (or for a speed boost of out combat). My guardian regularly uses all 10 of his weapon skills, as each skill is more valuable than 80% of ele weapon skills.
I wouldn’t mind if the game saved 4 weapon sets that can be easily swapped to outside of combat. During combat, the game is already balanced with some profs able to have two sets to alternate, some with one set with 4 skill bars, etc.
(above statement) perhaps, not as OP but could be more of a QoL thing.
Ok, can we also give ele’s adrenaline? Oh also, make sure to give them a pet too. Don’t forget gaurdian virtues, and death shroud…..or maybe every class has it’s own mechanic, and this type of thread is misguided
