Weapons deciding your role?
I think of it more like the way I play decides which weapon I should use.

This.
Before I got to play I was planning to use a sword/dagger combo on my ranger, but having gotten to try the skills I switched to sword/torch because I prefered it that way.
When you’re unlocking the weapon skills it is a bit limiting, but even on an ele (who I think have the most weapon skills) it doesn’t take that long to get them all unlocked and then you can pick the one(s) you prefer.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
Say you have a favorite weapon, but said weapon’s skills are pretty bad.
Wat do?
I haven’t encountered any skills that are bad. But if you think your favorite weapon’s skills are bad, either learn how to use them effectively or change weapons.
Or, if you REALLY want to use that weapon, find a class that uses it in a way you like.
Anyone else feel that your weapon decides how you’re going to play? Like how most staves are used for support, etc. I feel that the 1-5 skills for each weapon should have interchangeable options.
Doesn’t matter to engineers. Our Utilities are what determines how we play (Kits/Gadgets etc)
There just needs to be more customization.
I’ve never played GW1,but from looking at it, any build was possible for every class.

Wat do?
If you do not enjoy the skills the weapon gives than I would query why it is your favourite?
Because of the weapon itself?
Was that a real question?
Yes, it was a real question. Most people enjoy a weapon because of the play style it affords, it just seems very odd to me to pick a favourite based on anything else. So is it simply the appearance of that weapon? Or some childhood memory of wielding a insert weapon here? They both seem very secondary to me.
