Welcome China! First time entire FOTM group
First time I partied with an entire group from China (I was the only Westerner). One of them experienced. Other than some slight communication problems (on my part since I don’t speak or read Chinese) the run went very well and efficiently, we even shared a few laughs.
Anyways, nice to see the game growing and a large part of the world enjoying the same game that we do. I hope to party again with newest members of the GW2 community.
Sorry to burst your bubble but NA/EU players CANNOT interact with Chinese players. We are two different and isolated regions. Not sure who you were playing with…
Vesuvius is right, Chinese players are playing on separate servers to NA/EU players.
Can’t they be on N.A servers? Only one of them spoke some English, all the text otherwise was in Chinese. The only guy who poke Chinese told me they were all new players
Most likely chinese players from Taiwan or so.
They play on the NA servers
That means they were Chinese players using the NA/EU client. It’s not far fetched at all, considering we have plenty of SEA players playing right now from Taiwan and such.
Because of Chinese laws, the Chinese version of the game is through a Chinese company and their game is separate from the NA/EU game. It has its own separate trading post for example and it’s not possible to either transfer or guest to either an EU or NA server.

Yeah this is likely the case. Regardless it was one one the most enjoyable runs I have been on in awhile. It’s fun to play with new players who excitedly ping their new ascended ring loot, and who are enjoying the maps for the first time. It reminded me of just how much content Aanet has added (remember when FOTM was fresh and new content for us all?).

Oh, I didn’t know this.

Now you know Your welcome to China message is still relevant even though you didn’t play with actual Chinese players
They could have been Chinese nationals who bought an NA or EU version of the game. I guess they can play it from China , not sure how restrictive their internet is.
Anet should release a server for SEA and Oceanic. I’m sick of playing with 400 ping regularly and get beaten in all the WvW fights that I should have won just because my skills take a few years to respond.
Wait. . . so if China is on a completely separate server from us, why can’t we just have Cantha on our side? Plenty of games just remove problematic content during localization. If that’s really the issue behind our lack of Cantha, it’s a solvable one. . .
curse my dependence on sleep for survival!

This was my first thought – I thought the great Firewall of China precluded playing the NA/EU clients in those worlds.

Say goodbye to WvW if they do that. or do you think there’s enough sea and oceanic players for 3 servers? You do realize that the lag in WvW will still be bad, even if your server’s in sea/oceanic, right? Cause you’d still have to connect to the NA servers to participate in WvW. And thus, the lag still remains.

Answer—very.
Sorry trampled underfoot.4523, we took your theory and trampled it underfoot.
