Welcome to the new players!
Helped some awsome people today so far. got a few guildies at the norn area and a fun box!
supressed so bad on welcome messages ^.^
I must admit I find myself gravitating to the starter zones to see all the new virtual faces and welcome new players to the game.
While I do have some concerns about the details, I think this was a timely and well-considered move by ArenaNet, and I’m thrilled to see so many new people join this awesome community.
Here’s looking forward to plenty of good times ahead.

I admit, I felt a bit like a curmudgeonly old guy when I first read about the F2P announcement (“WHAT?! We’re gonna get botters and gold sellers and stupid kids who don’t know their maces from their faces and charge right into that ettin cave and then, guess who has to go into after them to save them??”), buuuut…
Seeing this thread has reminded me of the days when it was all new. The time I took my first steps out of that inn in Shaemoor, marvelling at the very first tree I chopped, wondering if it was safe for me to go down to the river with all those drakes (it wasn’t…), seeing everybody just get slaughtered by that giant troll near the cow farm (who then went on and started killing all the cows). It was a magical time. And maybe for the new people coming now, it will be too.
So welcome newbies! I hope you enjoy your stay in Tyria.
… No, I will not mail you gold. STOP BEGGING!
not had begging or anything yet. >.<
im loving it. banners everywhere for everyone
Free to play and the announcement of raids at the same time is like peanut butter and jelly.
Time to go recruiting for Tyria’s next batch of heroes.
I think I may begin conducting some impromptu interrogations orientations.
If you’re new, and you’re reading this, finding Mac Twinsong is the first part of your initiation. Good luck!

Wouldn’t surprise me if 98% of the free accounts are existing players trying to find ways of using those accounts to improve their mains.
yay apparantly playing jurassic park as they enter into the new world is amazing. i win awsome points!

I made one just to see what the TP limitations were as well as the tweaks to the game UI. Even named my character Free to Play, in French, to see if I attract anti-F2P trolls. Didn’t.
RIP City of Heroes
Welcome all new players.
I hope you all like GW2 and will stay <3

Someone explain 15 char to me…. Please
People who have yet to find out that you can just add a lot of spaces use it to post short posts (as there is a 15 character limit).

I may have just hit a slow time last night (9 pm to 10 pm eastern) but while a few new faces popped up in Shaemoor they mostly just ran off without seeming to notice all the offers of aid.
The only new one who stuck around was a self-confessed hacker who teleport-ran around near the waypoint and laughed off repercussions because it was a free account.
I will try again later today unless I have tabletop to attend. Possibly I’ll hit up Caledon this time.
I was in Queensdale/Jade Quary at the point where characters pop in and nobody is asking anything. I’m even shooting cake at them and nothing. Put out a bobblehead lab and nothing. I got like one LOL last night. And there was a handful of vets there waiting to help.
RIP City of Heroes
Parties and dancing?! You realize we’ve got a big bad boss on our hands come HoT right? If DBZ has taught me anything about boss fights it’s that we need to spend at least half a season training! Good thing I’ve got Piccolo teaching all the new recruits how to DODGE!
Shouldn’t we be speaking Brazilian if we’re welcoming the new F2P players?
I thought the language was Portuguese?
Seriously though, in Second Life us mentors used to use various HUDs that would use google’s translate API. True to form google took it away (well, monetized it) so that was no longer an option. I suppose you could use their website but it would be slow: I seem to remember the GW2 chat window did not allow copy/paste?
Welcome new players =)! Enjoy the game it is very fun and everyone so far that I have met in the game loves to help XD! Do all the event quests they are fun ^^! Also do World boss event cause you can get some nice loot!
Welcome newcomers!
Every starting map is filled with veteran players eager to help you!
Feel free to ask any of us let it be camera settings, loot and XP gaining, combo mechanism, skills or utilities!
I personally spend a few hours running around with new saplings and I met loads of other helpful veterans!
Welcome to Tyria!
You can identify us in starter areas by often having some sort of colored icon over us (right now upside-down triangles but in late october there will be a different icon as well). Those of us wearing them in starter zones are probably there to help so feel free to ask us questions. Beyond identifying people you can talk to the only other reason to wear them in starter zones is to identify events, so they will most likely be friendly anyway.
BTW, often we will be doing the same things as you in order to level up another character we are starting. Given we have done the event plenty of times before we are a GREAT source of advice about it!

Firstly, it’s Brazilian Portuguese ;P And secondly, yeah I know the bad name that certain groups has got but it doesn’t mean that all brazilians neither all F2P players are that bad. Btw, I have been playing GW2 for more than 2 years and brazilian here :P
Totally ready for the noobs
Great initiative but if you are up to help new players it would be a good thing to not call them “noob” :P Some people doesn’t being called like that.
Btw, great initiative with this thread and it’s appreciated all effort to make new players feel welcome. But too bad F2P players won’t be able to answer here :P
Newbies are super cute. Be nice to them… if they’re Sylvari.
Everything else is open game to hazing.

Really though, I’ll add my welcomes to the new players out there. Enjoy Tyria. It’s a good place to be.

The word noob has two meanings. To some, it is just short for newbie, ie, a new person/new player. Others use it as an insult.
I have even been called a noob at an event I have done countless times, usually running the show lately. Yes, I found that being hurled my way hilarious after coordinating things that day (and stressing which things were more important than others based on past experience) without being told the battle plan by other commanders.
To echo another thread we REALLY need a place where new players can post.
I’m even shooting cake at them and nothing. Put out a bobblehead lab and nothing.
Just a remind that based on (cough dumb cough) NPE mindset, new players aren’t suppose to deal with bundles or interact with stuff on ground :P

Yup I know that and that was what I meant, we never know if one would take it as insult or not then best thing if wanting to be friendly at welcoming is avoiding use it at first.
For all new and returning players, we hope you find Guild Wars 2 to be as fun and exciting as we have.
As you explore the game, you’ll find plenty of good people willing to help you find your own fun. There is a lot to learn and explore in Guild Wars 2 after all.
Someone explain 15 char to me…. Please
The 15 chars is because the forums won’t let you post unless you have 15 characters (letters, numbers, spaces) in you post.
And here I thought it meant that you wanted 15 charrs :-)
Welcome NEW PLAYERS!
I will do whatever I can to help you ALL OUT!
Add me in Game. My character’s name is Vanity Roseheart! I’am the most beautiful Mesmer in all of Tyria!
Also the most modest :-)
