Got up today morning and when I saw the filecount 600 , surely I knew it was not minor bugs.. Saw the release notes and happy that Anet have done some changes, which in the past days we all complained about.. Especially the account wide unlocks means already veteran players wont have much bad time playing alt character. Also thanks for reducing the level gates on skills, F1 skills..

Made my day , thanks ArenaNet for hearing to us somewhat !!

Returning player looking for lots of adventure, join me and we can journey together in Tyria !!

Completely agree. When the sept 9th patch rolled in I fealt disapointed for vet players having the rug pulled out from under their feet as far as starting an alt was concerned. But also I fealt like new players would be missing out too because the best way to learn anything is to experiment. So IMO by pushing the utility and elite skills back as far as they had been it meant that new players couldn’t learn any faster but, actually would learn to play slower under the new system than the old. The simple reason for that being because the experience and ability to experiment was being held back from them for longer.

On a plus though I like that they have basic control W=^,A=<,S=v,D=> etc tips and dodge tutorial in the lower level ends of the starter zones. Making it not just new to GW2 gamer friendly but new to MMO entirely friendly.

The original change was too extreme to be both veteran and new player friendly, but now they have pulled it back a little and found what in my opinion is a good middle ground. I’m really pleased with the patch fix, so much so I feel like recommending the game to my friends again, not just because of how good the game is (has been made again) but I can also tell them that the company behind it are actually listening to their player base. And if ANET will just leave it (it being the basic gameplay like trait and skill unlocks) this way now I will be a very happy customer.

Big TY’s to Anet today. : )

Okay, this was great, and fast. Account bound unlocks.

Now please do the same for traits!!! It’s a much bigger problem, and it’s been six months now!

I’m really glad they’ve fixed this! And admitted that some of it was intended changes which have been reverted instead of pretending it was all bugs. (I’m sure some of it was bugged, but a lot of the levels where things unlock were obviously just overly cautious.)

Yesh, they should be announcing these a lot more shamelessly than in the patch notes:

Skill challenges now unlock on an account-wide basis rather than a per-character basis as originally intended.
Utility slot skills 2 and 3 now unlock at levels 17 and 19, respectively.
The elite slot skill now unlocks at level 31.
Elementalist F4 commands, mesmer F3 commands, and guardian F3 commands now unlock at level 17.
Mesmer F4 commands and engineer F4 commands now unlock at level 19.
Skill Challenges are now visible at level 13 instead of level 15.

Get this on the front page with some blinking arrows that say “WE DO LISTEN!”
Though, those level boundaries still need a little tweaking. =P

Many alts; handle it!

I think the level boundaries need some more tweaking, but this was a big step in the right direction. If they tweak a few more things then this NPE might be savable after all.

Why aren’t skill challenges visible at level 1? Nonsensical, and I think locking any F skill is absolutely pointless, but at least the alt-hate has been substantially somewhat lessened by these concessions.

I concur. I was actually still awake when the patch went live, but I was excited with the changes. I’m glad to see that at least a few of the major sticking points have been reverted.

My personal thanks for nudging up the utility skill unlocks! That was a change I was really happy to see.

My necromancer also thanks this change. I had three slots unlocked, then only two, but the signet I had on slot 3 was still there, but I couldn’t change it. Maddening! =P
