A while ago, we saw a simple message in the patch notes:

Magic energy has been surging around the ley lines.

This triggered small events in-game. People were ecstatic.
The ley lines even grew. Events were spreading as more time passed.

Today, we see this message:

Reports of banditry have increased in Kryta.

I can’t say how excited I am again for future releases now. I stopped playing and lost interest a few months after HoT released, but now these little teasers are bringing me back.

You got me hooked, well done!

Yeah… that one little line set me all a-tingle too. XD

Now I have to go see if anything new is happening in Kryta

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

I am glad they are doing this, it is not much but better than nothing, which is what we were previously getting.

Recently after every patch I find myself actively trying to find out what is going on, previously I would not even bother checking the update till days after the patch.

Keep up the good work Arena Net, you are doing something right for a change!

He hasn’t really spoiled anything, that info was in the patch note itself.

I don’t get it. Is there new content to do now or is this just an announcement and there’s nothing in-game?

There’s a little bit of new content, you can wiki or dulfy it for specifics, I’ll just tell you to go to Queensdale to start out if you don’t want spoilers

There are new events to do and new achievements to get.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Are the events isolated to specific areas? I logged in and received nothing in my mail about where to go or what to do…

The ley line events are something you learn about after killing a dragon minion in old Tyria (branded, icebrood, etc) and you get a drop from one. The most recent events you kill a bandit and get a drop. You take the items to the NPC who knows about them (it will be on the tooltip) and the NPC will direct you to the next step.

Yeah, I am enjoying the little snippets of content too. One tip. If you are like me in that you want to take a bit of time to investigate stuff then turn off map chat before you head out into the world. Spoilers galore from players who seem determined to blitz through the content as fast as possible then tell everyone about it rather than savour the fun of the chase. Last night someone was continually spamming a certain item and a sentence about what you need to do to get it.

It would also be nice to be able to hide comm and mentor tags on maps, for the same reason ;p
