What Guild Wars 2 Is Missing
Hmm let’s see if I can remember the generic answers everyone will spout to this post:
Housing: Well I don’t remember seeing this one before but, ANet is too busy making HoT so not gonna happen.
Mounts: we have waypoints. and ANet is too busy making HoT so not gonna happen.
Old stuff: The season 1 stuff is too complicated to remake into instances and for some unknown reason ANet wants us to twiddle our thumbs waiting for HoT rather than rereleasing old stuff. Oh, and ANet is too bust making HoT so not gonna happen.
Ok? I think I guessed all the generic answers so let’s see some different feedback for once people.
EDIT: To be clear, I agree with you completely. But this is far from the first time this has been brought up…
Guardians of the Creed [HATE]
Yak’s Bend
Instead of Housing they should improve the Home Instance. Besides you could start up your own small Guild to make your own Guild Hall.
We kinda have mounts with the gemstore Magic Carpet and Broomstick. Sure they are only cosmetic but they are probably the closest we’ll ever get.
I agree with most of it, this game is clearly lacking in lategame content.
But i would doubt that Mounts and Housing will change that. It would be nice to have this but this isn’t something that keeps you in the game.
I now have nearly 2000hours of playtime and I get bored as soon as I log into the game, if my friends would stop playing, I would too.
Besides from Dungeon/fractal farming, WvW zerg and the cursed shore farming there isn’t anything left for me (I hate PvP).
So what I would like is a new Dungeon or fractal, something more challenging.
I think it is the right way to improve the experience for casual players and new players, but to ignore the heavy players is just wrong.
In terms of the living story I agree. It would be nice to replay some or even get the ones I missed. But to be honest they didn’t bring that much content. For example the last LS, brought us the silverwaste, 8 Story parts with ~3 instances (wich seem pretty much, but most of them where only a few minutes long and after you know the story they provide no replay value). A new armor set and tons of AP.
But after you got the AP, you don’t need to replay the LS, there is no cool bossfight, and they don’t give you a reward after the first playthrough. So Anet never intended that we would play them multiple times after this ( at least with the same char).
And the Silverwaste is just boring after a while, there is nothing for me to get there.
But I don’t think we will get something pre expension. Anet seems to have transferd everyone to the expension, the lack of updates in the last two weeks is a good sign for this if you consider how many bugs you can find right now (this never happened in the past).
I think the worst part is, that I get the feeling that Anet has left us behind. Since mid January the only new content was the DragonBall Arena. Yeah they patched new Skins, Mail Stuff and Minis in the game, but that dosn’t affect what you can do in the game. So we will see, maybe we get something new tomorrow
Lol that is not content! Thats fluff.
Archeage has housing and farming (very good open world housing, no instanced crap), it has excellent mounts (even hilarious cars), capturable pets and it also has ships (with brilliant physics) and land/sea based trade on top of all that.
But guess what? It kept me interested 3 months as opposed to 3 years in GW2. Because content doesnt make in any less shallow. There was nothing fun to do after a while. GW2 with its WvW, sPvP and PvE is a good mix that is far deeper in terms of gameplay.

The housing and mounts were just some suggestions to make the game not so plane. But yes what is needed is more game play content.
One form of Housing is set to be released with Heart of Thorns: Guild Halls. If this succeeds, perhaps we will see more developed personal Housing in the game. However, Guild Halls look set to offer more than simply decoration. Tying into another of your suggestions, we’ve heard that some of the Living Story Season 1 content will be available to guilds. Specifically, Arenanet has mentioned that from Guild Halls, guilds will be able to trigger and enter into a Twisted Marionette instance.
Mounts, however, are too divisive to be a truly positive addition to the game. We’ve had countless topics talking about them and they’ve always been more negative than positive. On several occassions, discussions have faded into outright arguments. Additionally, the workload would be terrible for developers. So many new animations, model making, gear and clipping etc. etc.
As a final note, I’d like to point out that Super Adventure Box was not, strictly, part of the Living Story’s Season 1. It was its own, standalone adventure and it’s been implied that we’ll get it back. Eventually. The question is ‘when’.
It would be so refreshing to see requests for additions or modifications to the game where the poster spoke for himself rather than claiming, “most,” people/players.
Maybe someday.

Well a whole expansion is coming, so I’m not then sure what your point of posting is. The expansion will have more content. It won’t have mounts, but it will have guild halls, and more.
Seems like impatience to me.
I don’t care one way or the other on housing, I guess. I don’t personally think the ‘traditional’ set up that other games follow really fits with GW2. However, as other’s have pointed out, they could do something similar with building one’s home instance. Some of us enjoyed building our HoM, which is similar though not the exact same thing as a ‘house.’ I think many of us would enjoy doing something similar again, and the home instance offers a relatively convenient built in locale for doing exactly that.
Regarding mounts, I really don’t want to see traditional style mounts in this game. “This is not WoW” is a common argument against these, but it goes further than this. Mounts are not something the lore of the existing game supports, they’d have to retcon it in, which would kitten off a lot of lore hounds. With the waypoint system and the assorted speed boost options of most classes (can we say “sprint spoiled”?), again, mounts serve no functional purpose. Yes, we could add them as purely cosmetic collectible items; however, we’ve already seen in previous mount threads that some people wouldn’t be happy with that. We’ve already seen calls for reducing or even completely removing waypoints so mounts could have speed boosts, for combat capable mounts, etc (for even just the few gemstore mountlike toys we currently have). So, I think this is simply something Anet should just stay away from. They have given in inch and players are demanding a mile, and we won’t even get into potential issues that mounts cause (things we’ve seen in other games).
