What Happened to Guilds?
guilds really seem to only be useful for 2 things: organizing WvW and easily finding groups for dungeons and the likes. other than that, there really isnt much point in being one. i just have one for myself to store extra stuff since i dont feel like spending money to get extra bank tabs.
I’m optimistic that Guilds in the future will carry more meaning, it just hasn’t been fleshed out yet.
It has been confirmed that ArenaNet is already looking into Guild Halls. Whether or not you choose to take them at their word, that’s another story.
That is one of the many things that could help increase the number of Guild-related activities. Achieving certain goals in order to acquire banners, tapestries, furniture, rooms, and other services in your hall to make it ever larger and more majestic is something many players would enjoy. I’m certain some things will be purchasable with gems, to help drive corporate income. I have no problem with this, but I hope this is not the only thing that helps you improve your hall. Guild-wide achievements would be my favorite option.
Some unannounced, but also logical, ideas are implementing a GvG mode of PvP.

Yeah, I’ve been waiting for guild halls. I hope it brings unity to guilds in the future.
I’m hopeful as well.
I’ve always thought of this game as an excellently crafted one with very high potential, just not quite complete.
A lot of the planned content sounds exciting to me.
I wouldn’t hold my breath for player housing, but it did find its way into the “Planned Changes” section of the wiki. That would be marvelous, to own and decorate my own house (instance, I imagine).
Guilds require commited leaders to work. My guild has a fantastic leader/officers that are constantly organizing things and handling situations. As such the guild is thriving

I agree, a lot depends on the leader. This leads me to something else I’ve noticed, the guilds that are actually close-knit are people who played another game together/know each other already.
This is nice and all, but it’s hard to find a place in a guild that already has an established group of people. There’s no wiggle room.
