In the beginning of my character’s progression there was some kind of personality meter that determined — in some way I can’t quite figure out — the effects of my dialog choices. I am referring to the Charming / Noble / Ferocious meter.

But after about level 20 a two things happened:

1. There seems to have been NO MORE dialog choices. They just disappeared.

2. The personality meter seems to have no affect what so ever on the game.

Did I miss something?

It’s just RP fluff. Occasionally you’ll get a dialog option that allows you to use your personality, such as having (Charming) at the end of a dialog option that wouldn’t normally be available.

No gameplay effects.

And as it turns out, no story-quest effects that matter, either.

The personality meter allows you to further create the character that you want to be playing. If you’re invested in your character’s story, you’ll enjoy it! If you’re not, well then it doesn’t matter what your character says anyways, does it?

There are a few hearts that you can use a personality option to progress.

For instance, there is a heart in Brisban Wildlands, where you have to take a bandit disguise. It changes your skill bar into a poor “brawler” type, but you can avoid some fights by using a Noble or Charming option.

Aside from those few hearts, no real effects of the personality meter.

You have to talk to the NPC’s. Sometimes even after a fight. Some hearts have those options – but not always all three of them. Talk to all the “speed” buffer in Lion’s Arch as well. It’s a bit here and there, but that makes it all the more precious for myself.

“Whose Kitten is this?” – “It’s a Charr baby.”
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”

I was able to start an event because I was so charming.

It is more for random NPC’s.

Go to TA explorable and talk to the sylvari near the repair anvil. You can be mean to them which is kinda neat.

There are also random named NPCs in the world that give you conversation options that can boost your alignment. I know of one on the Hoelbrak upper balcony. They don’t always give you all three choices, but there’s usually a neutral way to back out of the conversation.

Don’t ever think you know what’s right for the other person.

There are still a ton of dialog personality-choices after level 20, they are all scattered throughout the game, you just need to talk to NPCs. I talk to everybody I run into, some of them even trigger DEs on the other-side of the map. Also talk to the NPCs in your personal-story, before AND after doing anything, alot of times they will have the personality-choice dialog.

Alot of people think reading is hard so they don’t read anything and they end up missing it all.

Now what do all these choices actually do? I haven’t any idea… but they are there, and hopefully Anet does something with them at some point..

It’d be a lot more rewarding if i could see there are other options like “oh, cool, i can only do this because i’m really charming”.
