Currently, luck supposedly affects only loot from killed monsters. Well, what if luck started to affect loot gotten from boss chests, mystic forge, etc.?

Picture this: you start the game with 0 luck and with the standard poor drop rates. As you play the game more and more, you slowly, but surely build up your luck. In about a year or two, you max out your luck (it could be made time-gated), and if you were really unlucky with drops in the beginning, you will start to notice an increase in quality loot drops. Luck Essence source should be changed to some soulbound source or such, so that it doesn’t happen some rich ppl buy out all blues and greens off TP.

The effect is that the more and longer you play, you have better odds of getting quality items (those really rare ones, such as precursors). Maybe it could be designed in a way that luck affects all sources, but only soulbound items, so that you cannot sell them on TP. Maybe one consequence would be to make some items soulbound (precursors and such)…

What are your thoughts?

Thx

Edit: Luck maybe even shouldn’t have upper limit, but, to compensate that, it should increase more slowly. Roughly, maybe double the chance per year played (if it is made time-gated).

They would simply add another 0 behind the decimal point is all. It should affect ALL sources of RNG however.

no

Just bring in crafting uses for luck.
(when the majority of playerbase has 300% mf, and anet will know, I’m sure they’ll increase the luck level then…. and probably readjust drops to make up for it >.> )

While creating a time gated MF system would be neat it would mostly be benefiting players that play regularly and for a long period of time. It would make it difficult if not impossible for players that can’t get play very often and thats also assuming they stick around long enough.

If they are worried about players with already high MF they can just set a lower cap. Possibly provide 50% of our current MF to work on bags/chests with idk a 100%/150% cap. As more players reach max MF they can scale it up as necessary. Longtime players that earned max MF will feel rewarded while casual/infrequent players can still try their luck (no pun intended).

The main reason why we see now more and more of indirect drops (coming from boxes, bags or ui popups) is exactly because they are unaffected by MF. If they were affected, then Anet would just readjust every drop chance down, using 300% mf as a new baseline.
