I am confused back in the day when I played this game I was on an American server, then I took a break, long break. I come back and see that I am on a Euro server… WHY?…
Anyway… I live on the east coast FL and I need help picking the right server for me, I’d like to do both PvE and PvP but I want to make sure there’s not too much lag and this time I’d like to stay in a US server forever.
I am also looking for a good community of players.
Last question is do I have to delete my character[s] in order to join a different server? even if it’s on the other side of the planet?

Well, do you like WvW? Servers only really matter for that. If you do like WvW, then you might want to check out t1 or t2 or t3 servers. Probably t2 or t3, since the t1s are full and you probably can’t get in anyway.

And yes, the easiest way to transfer is to delete your character and reroll on to a new server. Unless you want to pay money for gems to transfer.

edit: And yeah, it’s weird that you were suddenly moved. Like Inculpatus said, you might want to contact CS. And change your password and add the authenticator if you haven’t already.

That should not actually be possible.
Did anyone else have access to your account? Is it possible you got hacked? Did you switch servers before you took that break and maybe didn’t pay attention to which region you picked?

Not sure about specific servers, I’m on a EU server, but you don’t need to delete any characters if you transer with gems (500 for medium populated servers, 1000 for high and 1800 for very high; can’t transfer to full servers). If you want to save that money/gold, you have to delete all characters in order to transfer. Gold, items in your bank and wardrobe as well as minis are not affected by this, you get to keep all of that.

Actually you guys are right I was told that my acc was compromised I guess that’s why it was moved, my acc was locked for that reason me and CS e mailed each other back and fourth a couple of times and they allowed me to change my password I think I’m just going to start fresh because I never really got a max level character in the 1st place. Ouch. Well make sure to get an authenticator on the account. It helps a lot. And yeah, since you don’t have a level 80 it probably makes the most sense to just delete and start over again. Good luck!

Since your account was compromised and the usurper moved your account to another server, you can ask the CS Team to move your account back to the original server. You can also ask for an Account Restoration, if you so desire (which would automatically move your account back), but you might not want to use that.
