What about pugs?
/blink blink blink
Forced to join a distasteful guild? Um, no? Just, y’know, check the LFG forum or third party sites or listen in on map chat to find people who chat in ways you like and approach them politely to see if their guild wants people. Server has no impact whatsoever unless you want to WvW.
Well….
I will stay PUG user forever. I might run some 10-man dungeons… Ehhmm…. Yah RAIDs with some guilds and then I well I’ll go back to pugging…Like I pugged through fractals like I’ll pug through anything.
As log as people know what to do and have gear it should be manageable. even without COMMUNICATIONs…. If not, it’ll be agrave mistake. ALso as people can figure out a raid leg in a beta weekend, not with perfect gear, then it should be possible to do this… with people knowing the game and good gear.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.
OP are you talking about WvW??

Guilds vs Pugs generally.
I have notice some servers (small ones) are very bad for pug players. And some guilds have too much rules like if ur online you must join raid even if ur busy with laundry.
I fear stuff whats coming with HOT. Forced to join guilds that you dont like.
If you joined a WvW based guild with a set schedule, then you should be expected to join them at the scheduled times if you’re online. If you don’t want to commit to that, find a guild that’s more relaxed. Look at the guild leader’s point of view- they’re trying to run a focused WvW guild. If there are members who aren’t participating or always have excuses, more and more members will do the same… and eventually the guild dissolves because it isn’t able to accomplish its goal. It’s hard to believe that every guild on a server is like this.
That said, I have known people in guilds like that who would set themselves to offline status to run dungeons and stuff
Guild shopping is always a lot of work. Even if you find a good guild later members can leave. So try making friend and see if they have a spot in their guilds.
Not sure if you are a returning player who missed all the news about the megaserver (if you are check the wiki on what it is), but the short version is that your server has absolutely nothing to do with the guilds you can join.
The exception of course is if you are looking for a wvw guild, which it doesnt seem like as you mentioned raids, but if thats the case (i’m sure it is for some people, especially ones on the bottom tier servers) I sympathize and really hope anet puts in free server transfers soon, at least for the bottom 3 servers.
Well, I mean if those are the rules those are the rules. You signed over your soul to the guild when you joined them, so there is definitely no options to go against it.

How do pugs play with no thumbs anyway?

Is something happening to the PuG’s?
;o;
Yup, OP. I’ll probably be repeating what other posters have already said but…
LFG is also megaserver. If you’ve managed to develop some belief that Server X has worse PUGs than Server Y (for PvE or PvP stuff), you’ve probably just been very unlucky or you’ve fallen to some cognitive bias. In other words, subconsciously you may believe Server X has worse PUGs and anything that supports this misinformation gets really stuck in your head and you’ll subconsciously ignore anything that presents the opposite.
I’ve found that I can be very much in control of the type of PUGs I get. You can’t expect to get good, co-operative experienced players every time if your LFG looks like “p1” for example.
I always write “EXP” for explorable paths. If they don’t appear to be experienced or make it particularly obvious, I’ll kick them. If they’re good listeners and ask questions if they’re not sure, they stay though. (just a disclaimer, I will put “All Welcome” for story paths, or if I want to show somebody what the dungeon’s like). I’ve also found that running multiple paths for the same dungeon also works well to filter more experienced players as less experienced ones are less likely to do full runs. If I feel member(s) need a little more direction I’ll make sure to target or give a couple of quick words regarding the mechanics. The best way to get a good party for a good run is to be positive and supportive.
And as for guilds… Not every guild has a strict schedule. I think the ones that have schedules are generally better managed and as a result become bigger than ones without structure. That being said, people have different preferences so I could understand if you want something less regimented and more spontaneous.
I’ve personally never seen rules that require you to stick to the schedule other than some guilds sporting a “firm suggestion” that players should participate in guild missions when they’re running. This rule would make more sense in WvW-oriented guilds who require the numbers in the squad when there’s a WvW raid; your personal strength would be far more useful in the zerg than if you were running around roaming in another borderland.
So… if you don’t like your guild, try out another one. There are many guilds to choose from so there’s no point sticking to one you’re not happy with when there’s your “perfect match” out there. Just advertise what you’re looking for in LA (or the area of content you like the most); if you like WvW, go to your borderlands and advertise there. Here’s an example “Exp Warrior LF relaxed + friendly medium-sized WvW guild”. If you don’t get many hits, try being less specific.
