The game has been out almost a year. It’s amazing in some ways, but in others it feels like they still need to capture something something special. They update a TON, which is cool, but I’m not sure of the direction all the time.

What are your thoughts on what’s missing? Here are my biggest problems:

- PVE isn’t that fun on alt characters. Do I want to mine, craft, grind away at events alone over and over? No. I struggle to level my alts. It just isn’t very fun in an empty world, especially on non-OP classes where combat becomes tiresome after 10 minutes. Why isn’t ANet introducing new ways to make leveling fun?

- A lot of new content involves killing 10,000 rats level of tedium. The achievements to kill holographic monsters to get an event reward or get laurels to get ascended stuff and so on… go against EVERYTHING Anet once was about with ‘play this content because you’re having fun’ game. And so I do these achievements sparsely here and there then log out because I’m not having fun.

- WvW isn’t changing enough. Where’s the new siege, and more options to alter the battle dynamics. It’s almost a static process of ‘zerg comes, zerg goes’ and very, very little else. That is NOT what makes war games fun. It’s almost PVE-ized in how it works right now. They need to trust players more with big stupid powers that can turn a tide, or at least DEMAND strategic play from the zerg.

Right now those are the things I’d love to see a change of direction. If we get a new currency or grind treadmill instead soon I’m going to weep.

-No proper PvP support.
-All the resources they put to release the new content every month seems to me meaningless.
-Lack of an element that many players can grip and continue to play.Result of the above.

Anyways, end game about me is to hone your skills and evolve.Without proper PvP that cannon happen, not against some random AI.

1. Ranger kittening pets – The control you get over them is terrible, they’re apparently designed for GW1 combat (little evasion that’s poorly timed, no blocking, can’t hit while moving/miss moving targets frequently), and we should honestly have been given the option to play the class without them in the first place.
2.No GW1 dervish – Self explanatory. I loved the flexibility that their skill synergies gave. Giving yourself constant buffs is nice, but I really liked deciding what order to use them in so that enchantment sacrifice skills would strip the right one at the right time. Also, deciding whether that boon is worth more to you than the immediate effect you get from stripping it. Plus, the aesthetics were awesome.
3. Ranged combat is underpowered – Yes, melee should do more damage. But it shouldn’t do that much more damage when melee skill sets have not only extremely good mobility but also much stronger cc and blocking/evasion. I like ranged and melee combat roughly equally, but as it stands now melee seems to have a considerable advantage unless the fighting is on very uneven terrain (walls, cliffs, etc.).

1) WvW and PvE are balanced around sPvP, resulting in a lot of unfair or not needed nerfs to skills/abilities.

2) The trait system is too rigid and not flexible enough, it allows far less build diversity than a open ended system and often forces you to take traits you do not want or stats you do not want. I have seen a lot of ways to assign abilities and its one of the worst ever…

3) At a certain point there is no progression at all character wise other than get a new skin to wear for a couple of weeks/a month before it ends up collecting dust in your inventory…

Not much challenging content… Most bosses/trash are just big health sponges. An example of this is during the Fractal with the harpies the part with the prison that contains the Champion Ettin/Shaman. This fight is painfully boring yet can take up to 10-15mins in the 40+ fractals. I honestly think anet gives trash/bosses ridiculous health pools because you would be through the dungeons very quickly

Dynamic events are very bland they usually consist or escort/retrieve/kill. You can finish an event and then 1minute later it starts up again making it very repetitive. The events also scale poorly. After a certain amount of players the bosses go down faster than they spawn such as the big meta events like shatter and maw where you stand in x spot and autoattack until the boss dies.

Anet has no incentive to work on the pvp side of the game unless they can monetize it

1. Illogical profession balance: This game is balanced around its least played mode: s/tpvp, yet those changes that should have focused on that part get cascades onto PvE/WvW so that any negative changes are across the board. Take a look at the Ranger sub-forum as a prime example of the crap that’s happening. And strong classes get stronger while weak classes get weaker.

2. No new permanent dungeons. To be frank, I’m not expecting another dungeon until we get an expansion.

3. Everything that is not cash shop-related is an afterthought.

  • Professions needs more weapon sets like DW sword thief, Rangers using rifles and warriors wielding great axe.
  • Improve weapon set skills like hammer having cripple condtion on certain skills.

question should be what like you at guild wars 2 :P
its the combat system only. maybe thats because i just like pvp.

what i dont like for pvp

1. bad balance (warrior and ranger)
2. only one game mode in pvp and nothing new since release
3. anet have rly no idea what they should do next about balance, easy to see on there body talk on sotg

on pve (i dont play it much, but have 100% world map and fractal 30 :P)

1. its not a real deep fantasy world like when i read fantasy books like the elves, the dwarfs and lord of the rings.
i like the fantasy like in warcraft 3 (story) or the witcher.
in guild wars 2 all love each other. no war between some races and racist like in adult games, but well gw2 is for age 12.

2. pve is to easy, nearly every build can played and its np.
i like to have roles in a team. dmg, heal and tank (like in gw1).
but at same time pve is unbalanced too (ranger)

3. i dont like the legendary weapons for ranger :P

Well, I have just started playing and while I do thoroughly enjoy GW2 and will probably keep playing, there are some things I do wish it had.

1. The holy trinity. I actually like this. I’m not really clear on what their idea was when they decided to eliminate this, as I’m not one to read up on a lot of stuff, but I assume it is either to eliminate searching for group members, which doesn’t make sense to me because I have never ever had a problem finding people to fill roles in any MMO I’ve ever played, or because they don’t really want people to be limited to their role, which also wouldn’t be a problem if you are able to have two skill loadouts. Without the trinity PvP seems to be a giant zergfest and everyone just doing their own thing, same for dungeons.

2. Post 80 content. While I myself haven’t yet experienced it, so I won’t really consider this a fair judgement, I have seen my friends play it and and talked to many about it. I’m fine with the whole everyone has equal gear at the end idea, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have progression through dungeons and or raids. I think they should implement something like bosses dropping rare armor or weapon skins. They wouldn’t have better stats or anything, but would give people a reason to do dungeons more than once. They could also add items that give you spells and abilities cool looking effects. There are ways to add progression and endgame content without making it stat gear based, but as I said I haven’t experienced it so I will wait to make a final judgement.

3. Leveling. This may just be me, but leveling, while extremely amazing compared to any other MMO out there, still feels like a grind at times for me, because, for an example even if I complete every dynamic event and heart for level 20-21, I still haven’t gained enough experience to be able to do the next group of hearts without constantly dying. Enemy spawn rates also seem extremely off for some areas. I remember trying to get this one skill point in this one room with 4-5 mobs in it. I would kill 3 then the first 2 I killed would respawn right behind me, and no matter what I did, I kept dying. Eventually I just came back way over leveled and got it, but still.

Overall though I really enjoy this game. It’s different and unique.

1. Not enough challenging open-world PvE content. In addition, bosses with huge HP bar that stands still, throwing occasional one-shot deaths is NOT challenging nor fun. Need boss fights to be more dynamic and mobile. Take CoF p1 final boss as an example. Change it so that it can walk after players for a very-slow melee attack (so you can move out of the way to dodge). And at every 25% of HP lost, the dungeon boss goes into “enraged” mode and bull-rushes a player and knocks them down to the ground if not dodged. Then the boss casts a 2-second casting delay, small-sized AOE attack that the player has to dodge or suffer huge amount (70~80% of one’s HP bar) of damage. Something like this would make boss fights a lot more dynamic than dodging occasional red circles and spamming autoattacks at it.

2. Not enough lvl80 open world PvE zones.

3. WvWvW is just zergfests.

  • This game lacks depth, it has no means of keeping you interested, we need things like housing and artifact hunting or anything else that would kill time in a meaningful and rewarding way. Also more customization, something along the line of actual trophies, things that you could display on your character to represent your achievement.
  • Professions suck, all or most of the skills are useless due to being underpowered or on a long unnecessary cool down. Professions need viable skills as well as new weapon combinations. Thief with dual swords, elementalist with scepters so on and so forth.
  • Story is lacking, the lore is disappointing, game is far too bland, needs more humans. I believe this game is an alternate storyline compared to the original guild wars, I can’t wait for a guild wars sequel!
Guild Wars 2 is not a sequel to the original Guild Wars but merely an alternative story setting.

The biggest problem for me in the temporary content – which typically amounts to little more than a one – path dungeon and a few dynamic events, all within a limited scope of zones. Of course, we’ve not seen new zones fleshed out, no new permanent dungeons, and most importantly no new leveling paths.

Second, the character progressions stops once you get your skills in the mid 40s or 50s. I like the fact that I get my armor at 80 for cheap, but the game comes to an abrupt stop. I suppose I could try Fractals, but those are not fun in the least. And from what I hear, the drops depend on RNG.

Third, there are zones that don’t feel fleshed out and there are no compelling reasons to go to them. I look at divinity’s reach and I see an area ripe with opportunity – mini games, bar games, player driven content, etc. – it could all be there. Also, some of the most fun zones, like the middle level zones, have little attraction after you’ve completed them.

1. It’s freaking me out that Anet doesn’t split Pve and Pvp when it comes to balance changes. No thanks, I don’t want to reroll to Guardian/Warrior to be viable in fractals.

2. Living Story is NOT new content. It’s an excuse for new Rng-boxes.

3. The lack of new – and beautiful – armor skins

  • The rewards are cosmetic but there’s no special bank tab to store these trophees and it costs you gems to get transmute stones so their reward system just doesn’t work for me and I have no incentive to start collecting them. I just get the skin I want and get done with it. (And in my case the skin I wanted was a mix-match of Heritage and Draconic so it took me 5 minutes to get the look I wanted.)
  • End game PvE is all about DPS, zerker gear and zergs because DPS/control/support didn’t happen. I’m sorry but I’m the defensive type and I don’t like these dungeons one bit because DPS is boring for me.
  • The personal story could have been a lot better. Being given a choice every 2~3 missions feels like a waste of effort when most of the choices look like “Do you want to take the right or the left path?” Role-playing is fun when your choices allow you to shape your character’s personality. Give us more moral choices, with consequences.

1. Not enough armor and weapon models. This was a massive disappointment for me since beta especially since I come from playing WoW, where every bit of armor and weapon had a different model or palette. Yes, I’m fully aware of the dye system.

2: The fractured nature of the personal story. While I thoroughly enjoyed the concept of the PS, the segmented nature of the instances and cut scenes made trying to get immersed a chore.

3: Lack of impact from event chains / waypoints ruin the world.

I wish the game had mounts. Seriously. Or, alternatively more zones should get waypoints contested. Once you have all waypoints, the world becomes a fancy lobby and not really a world at all.

My biggest problems are niggles that I’ve spent hundreds of hours with. They seem small at first… but their persistence grows the annoyance factor with time. As a Norn female character player:

1) The “tab” on female norn t3 leggings at the belly area. I have to look at this every day on two characters and I think, why haven’t they moved that bit onto the chest piece? For one it would get rid of it for my warrior’s armour mix and for two it would align the dye channels for my guardian who wears the t3 top but STILL gets a horrible seam because the dye channels don’t match. If the armour was cheapo then I wouldn’t care so much, but this is the top end cultural set and I want perfection!

2) Leather chests that are not coats. Aside from the exotic named set style (Zho’s etc), I can’t think of a top that isn’t a coat. And the one that isn’t is a skimpy leather bra affair. Something in-between that ends at the waist would have been nice.

3) Heavy armour skirts; wtb more leggings like Temple or norn t3 that don’t involve wearing a skirt and avoid a chunky midriff (which is what you get in Pit-Fighter… etc).

I stuck with cosmetic things for my three, this time. Cosmetics are those quality of life things that – got right – add a lot of feel-good and immersion to the game. That’s why I would like those cosmetic niggles addressed

1: Class Balance. They need to seperate the 3 game styles, you can’t just balance them the same way. Biggest example is the Ranger pet nerf. Pet’s are already bad in Dungeons due to how fast they die to AoE and Ranger damage is lower because of that. They didn’t need a 50% nerf on top of that.

2: Money making. There used to be some good places to farm, Penitent and Shelters, Plinx, Fish Corpse. But Anet took them out. You could get up to 6 gold an hour from the Penitent and Shelters and Fish Corpse, but that was on a really good hour. Usually about 4 gold. They didnt need to be removed. Now you either run CoF or play the Trading Post. I’d love to work towards wepaons more often but I’m pretty much restricted to daily dungeon running with my Guild in the evening. I love dungeons but I would like some other ways to make money that I can do by myself.

3: Thats about it, so I’m gonna say balance again. sPvP and PvE need vastly different balancing. WvW and PvE need less seperation but it’s still there. Don’t be afraid to split skills and traits. I know Anet didn’t want people to have to really change their playstyle no matter which game style they’re playing but it’s almost impossible to do

3. PvP to PvE bleed over: changes to class skills and abilities based on the current PvP meta not being separate from PvE and WvW.

1. Trahearne
2. Huge boring grind to Legendary
3. Transmutation system

I’ll also offer number 4: This isn’t necessarily a problem but sometimes I feel intimidated to enter the game. There are so many things I can do, but most of them feel unrewarding or pointless. I can go explore the world and complete maps, but I don’t feel rewarded for doing that. The only thing I get from completing all the maps are the Gifts of Exploration for the Legendary. Hours and hours of work for a single item.
I could also do PvP, but I don’t feel rewarded for doing that either, since most of the game is PvE or WvW, which are separated from PvP.

All these things bother me, but I still think GW2 is an awesome game. What bothers me more than problems in the game is seeing complaints about how the game is not perfect and therefor the devs at ANet deserve to die in a fiery pit. People complain that suggestions by the community are not being listened to, which is not actually the case. Just because suggestions are made but not instantly addressed does not mean that they were never heard. It takes a huge amount of consideration then planning before implementation of a change.

2. soulbinding an item should go to a virtual item storage system EXACTLY like the pvp in gw1. the current system leaves you with SO MUCH CLUTTER if you have more than one equipment set up per toon. they had such a genius system in gw1 and just flat out chose to be stupid as hell in gw2. they brag in manifesto that you can “look like you want” but if you buy T6 armor you can only wear one stat-set with it or buy a 2nd skin set to put on another stat-set. as if they didnt know we’d ever change our gear? stupid as hell.

1. RNG boxes sold for real money, wherein most of the boxes you open have only junk, with no rare item guarantee. This is a really scumbag business model.

2. Temporary content and the lack of development of an expansion. People keep saying that GW2 is bigger than Prophecies, which is all well and good, but if they wait another three months, then that’s where Nightfall was released on the GW1 timeline – and no way does GW2 have more (permanent) content than Prophecies + Factions + Nightfall.

3. Poor storyline and world building (this one’s a little rant-y) – This is my biggest problem with GW2, and I think I can forgive them for most of the other things as long as the gameplay stays fluid and dynamic. The lore is fine (at least, the lore they set up in GW1 was fine), but the storyline in GW2 doesn’t even concern the lore of Tyria, and the lack of a quest system in favour of quest hearts means that you don’t really get it through sidequests either. A huge, huge portion of GW1 lore and background was completely and offensively retconned in order to introduce the Charr as a good-guy playable race, and the movement of the world between the two games completely trashed nearly everything that your GW1 hero accomplished in their storyline.

Additionally, the Elder Dragons are a really terrible idea of a villain. Ever since Prophecies, the writers of this game have felt the unnecessary need to “upgrade” the power and lore footprint of each villain that you fight (Lich → Ancient Legendary Warrior → Elder God → Lieutenant for an entity 10x stronger than an elder god → Entity 10x stronger than an elder god). The problem with this is that the personality of the antagonist becomes hollower and hollower with each subsequent game, and it’s really amateurish storytelling.

Also, they’ve gotten to the point where Zhaitan is so strong that it’s not realistic to me that we, the heroes, actually win. Since the game’s no longer new, and because the development team buffed up the events in Orr not that long ago, if I level a character now, I go to the Straits of Devastation to see the Pact getting curb stomped by the minions of Zhaitan, and there’s nothing I can do, and nothing changes between then and the Cursed Shore, and yet I’m supposed to swallow that somehow, teaming up with a ragtag group of four other adventurers, we stopped an apocalyptic force of destruction by pew-pewing him with lasers from an airship? The thought that each future expansion to GW2 might just involve fighting another one of the elder dragons really, really gives me pause for thought as to whether I want to buy it.

1. PvE too easy. Players want a challenge that is engaging. Currently everything in the game is lowest player ability accessible. Long term players want difficult content that requires effort (not grinding) to overcome.

2. Loot… every MMO made today needs to have a fantastic loot system. Players will keep putting money into the slot if every lever pull has a chance to drop something magical. Practically every piece of good loot is purchased from vendors and is a grind of sorts to get. To add to number one, put great loot at the end of a dungeon and not a grind token system.

3. I would love to see a true PvP server where towns are safe but every place else is open kill. Only non-combat guild mates and other aligned guilds would be flagged as non-combat.

1. Balancing classes on the whole based only on PvP. Balance needs to account for WvWvW, PvE and PvP separately optimally, suboptimally WvWvW and PvP as one group and PvE as another. Things that affect mob mechanics simply never affect human players in the same way, so it will never be balanced if you use only one of the mechanisms to balance. The current practice of balancing around PvP has led to some really rotten balance issues in PvE. There’s no need to even mention the class most affected since it’s pretty much obvious to most players, I’m just wondering why the differential balancing thing that was allowed for mesmers (my class) this recent patch was not a courtesy extended to other classes that needed it so much more.

2. WvWvW. Basically, it rotates around zerg rushing, arrow cart spamming and mesmer portal chain + timewarped siege golems. It’s become boring enough that most of the time I run outlier camps in outmanned maps with a PuG or two to flip the lot of them, because taking part in a tower/keep siege feels pointless. Whether or not I’m there feels largely unrelated to the overall effort – in a 90 vs 70 player combat, having 71 players or 91 players doesn’t make much of a difference at all. And skill is largely made irrelevant when the main kill mechanic is how many ranged autoattacks you can stack in a death dot.

3. Multi-classing. If I am to finish all the hearts in the world and explore everything, I’m not exactly given a very strong incentive to do the same in another class. Rather, I have the incentive to simply level that class, and then do Fractals/Dungeons/WvWvW/sPvP in that class instead. The main bit of the content of the game – the exploration, the dynamic events… it’s going to be an issue doing the same ones over and over again with 8 different classes. There just isn’t any difference between making frog juice as a ranger and making frog juice as a warrior – you’re ultimately still just running back and forth and spamming the F key. It may be more interesting if the radiant heart tasks were somehow different for each class to play. When the main content is sidelined for the smaller set of endgame content for class-relevant gameplay, the overall replayability is so much smaller than it could have been. For that matter, world exploration/dynamic events also pay too little in comparison to events like dungeons or fractals. There’s essentially no way to have a difficult PvE challenge with a fair reward for soloists – you either get challenge without fair reward (soloing Orr Champions), or you go for a group activity (Fractals, Dungeons).

  • The lack of a queue system is also a problem, but OP only allowed 3.

Get the cheer leaders ready…I don’t think they will like this.

I really do like this game but the issues below yell at me. If we don’t mention issues like this then how will ANet know how we actually feel about their game so they can improve on it.

1. The very thinly disguised exploiting of younger players through the money-for-rng-boxes. RNG for reward for skill/effort is bad enough but these are a lottery, a lucky dip, pure gambling. Although they may technically dodge scrutiny (at the moment) of the various gambling authorities, morally I consider it straight exploitation. There is NO skill involved…just pay and open for a chance…no accountability for the players outcomes….no scrutiny allowed…the exact opposite for other legalised gambling.

2. The way we have been dished out unfinished and largely untested content with multitudes of bugs building on bugs and little effort to fix them…just “temporary” content with more bugs. Now 25 June patch did fix a lot up but if you are cynical you could say that it was only after NCSoft decided to fund an expansion for GW2 so they had better try and sort out the bug mess.
3. Combat boredom. Cheap design and cheap shots to make content more “difficult” (read unpleasant/unenjoyable). One shot mechanics just scream cheap/shortcut design and make for boring content. Likewise for using multiple bazillion add spawns (I have recently seen similar in another MMO that just spawns adds by the squillion to make the content harder…cheap and boring).

3) Too much Temporary content, needs more focused on endgame permanent content, more diverse armor. People will be more satisfied with good looking armor skins over weapon skins.

I am going to start off by saying that I love this game and am happy that I own it but there are a few things that drive me crazy.

1: Temporary content. Let me say that for the most part, I have loved every bit of the LS content but it does kind of make me sad that I can never do it again on another character. I mean, if you had kept all the LS content in the game rather then just dumping it after 2 weeks, the game would have so much more content for people to do with both alts and for newcomers who want more story later on especially with the consistincy that you have been adding the LS content.

2: Loot drops. Yes, I am sure you hear it 999999 times a day but I have recently been getting curious/bored and have decided to start buying Heavy Loot Bags off of the TS in amounts of 100 at a time to see how often I can make back the money I spent or even get lucky and make a tad bit more. Now, I have done this 3-4 times now and have had almost the exact same result every time and each time I have bought about 500 bags. For about the first 200 bags I open, I generally remake the money I spent and after that I will generally get around 2-5 rare drops from the next 200 or so generally in the form of cores and lodestones. Now mind you, I have only gotten 1 of each of the rarest lodestones out of over 1000 bags and the rest were the rather cheap ones like crystal cores. After I got a couple of rares, my luck from the said bags tanks and I start losing money rapidly. Now while I pre ordered this game back in May, 2012, I have only gotten maybe 500 hours into the game as things like loot drops and RNG always drive me away. I have yet to ever get any sort of exotic drops from any of the content minus one time I got a worthless exotic item from getting lucky on the mystic forge (and a couple of karma and dungeon items that are unsellable). And while dungeons can be profitable, I have lost interest in them due to the elitism that has gotten worse and worse overtime. If you read over the group listings on the gw2lfg website, more then 3/4ths of them are elitist people who have zero patience for people who want to learn. There NEEDS to be either a loosened policy on loot drops (yes, that means that the market will need time to sort itself out but that isn’t a bad thing) or like 3-4 different ways ingame for being able to get expensive stuff for your character, whether it be lodestones, ectos, exotics and ascended gear, even rare skinned items that take time to get, and yes percursers.

3: The Personal Story. This is really my biggest sore spot in GW2 as the biggest selling point that GW2 had for me was the story, however the more I do it on alts and the more I remember it from my main, the more I feel let down from it. Ignoring the fact that there has been zero updates to the PS since launch minus bugfixes and balances, not only does the voice acting feel off in it (in a lot of cases it feels kind of forced and corny), but characters die so fast, and events happen so fast that I generally just lose interest. While I applaud you for doing something different than everyone else as far as the PS conversation cutscenes, I will be very blunt here and say that I cannot stand them for the life of me. They do not feel natural and they just feel off. I am in the process of trying to finish up an alt and I am simply skipping all the conversation cutscenes. I am really only doing it so I can get whatever rewards that come from finishing it.

In closing, I love what is being done with the new LS content and I hope that whenever the PS gets picked up from where it left off that you take what has been learned from the launch of the base game and numerous content updates and do what needs to be done with the PS (PLEASE, NO MORE CONVERSATION CUTSCENES). Mind you, I REALLY want to see the PS picked up again and I want to see how it all goes just please, learn from the mistakes of the launch PS. And PLEASE, do something fast about the loot issues. eventually you will be losing players faster then you get them because of the lack of good loot drops that keep people playing the game.

1.Temporary content. I find it uncompelling and lacking substance. The only event I liked was super adventure box and that wasn’t even meant to be a part of the game.

2. Ascended gear. There needs to be more way to acquire laurels rather than dailies or monthlies. Make it alt friendly as well.

3. RNG boxes. Stop it.

1. Asinine balancing

Maining as a Ranger now is really only done for kittens and giggles as the class has no place in serious game play anymore outside of spvp. They sold a game free from the holy trinity and ended up creating one anyway only now we have a game with no defined team roles and as a result every ‘hard’ fight is no different than a Quick Time Event game where you press _ to not die.

2. Temp Content

The living story was a great idea when they pitched it as an ever evolving series of events that would change the face of Tyria over time. But, like most of the rest of the game, Anet grossly oversold the idea and so far the LS has been nothing but grocery list grind (activate X markers) over and over again with any kind of equipment largely tied into RNG boxes that reward only those with disposable money in game or in reality.

A game should get bigger and better over time, not just hover around sort of okay.

3. No Obvious Direction Anymore

As others have pointed out, by this point, GW1 already had come out with Factions and Nightfall was on the horizon. What exactly are they planning for GW2? We’ve already been told multiple times that they have no current plans for an expansion so what is there to look forward to other than more of #2 from above? For a team that seems to hold pvp over all other game modes they have been woefully slow to add anything to it.

Getting close to a year old and still no gvg, team death match or dueling? Is it because you can’t tie RNG gem boxes to them?

Connection error(s) detected. Retrying…

Sums up the problem with GW2

1. Temporary content. It’s getting repetitive.

2. Too easy content.

2. Too little attention to PVP and WvW. Some problems since beta still persist.

My only real complaint right now is against the “cosmetic skins locked behind RNG” system that ANet has been using. That said, it has been steadily improving every special event:

Flame & Frost: Cosmetic skins only available from gem store RNG. Not tradable.
Secret of Southsun: Cosmetic skins available from gem store and farming. Still locked behind RNG. Not tradable.
Dragon Bash: Cosmetic skins available from gem store and farming. Two separate tiers of RNG container available. Still locked behind RNG. Not tradable.

If ANet had either made the skins tradable OR made it so the gem store container bypassed the RNG, I’d have considered the Dragon Bash system perfect. (If they made both changes, I’d be ecstatic.)

A secondary, but more minor, complaint is about the temporary content. While I don’t mind events being for a limited time, I do feel that future players should be able to enjoy the Molten Facility or the Aetherblade Retreat even if they were late to the party. A device or location that allowed players to “relive” events the same way the Hall of Monuments did in EotN would be ideal. (And if players can still earn those limited time rewards from these, so much the better!)

1. Rewards don’t reflect the time/risk factor, such as fighting champions. This has to be adjusted very carefully however, because if they make champion rewards too good, people will just zerg them and they’ll become as meaningless as some of the meta events.

2. Connection to your character. There’s a ton of stuff in Guild Wars 2 that’s very convenient, but some of that makes it harder to connect to your characters. Sometimes I feel like I’m playing characters interchangeably, rather than playing a specific character because I love the character.

3. Not even reason to play support type characters from a meta point of view. I’d love to see an actual choice in what I want to play that makes me a valuable member of a party. Build diversity isn’t going to matter at all, if support largely isn’t needed to complete content.

3. Dungeons are realy fun but there is no way in Hades depths that I can play Expl Dungeons with my casual rookie friends (Easy mode thingy needed with less rewards).

1. RNG. It’s so often simply not possible to go out and earn what you need for an item. Which leads to..

2. Far too much emphasis on random money grind in order to go buy what you need.

3. PvE culling
