I think the constant new character builds that really don’t change much of anything of the class but saying it’s an improvement is depressing like elementalist.
Changes to classes without making new runes is depressing also, why cant we have class specific runes?

Cash shop. Being able to buy in game currency. Artificial low drops DR to annoy people just enough to buy gems.

9/10 new armors in cash shop, and don’t forget the weapons…

Why can’t this be rewards in game?

GW2 has “only” made 200 million from their cash shop. Which is one of the lowest compared to other “F2P/B2P” games.

Rather have paid expansions and even paid mini expansions than constantly being reminded if actually farming for X item is worth the time put into it. Rather work a few hours extra than spending 10x the time in game playing content that have caps and DR all over the place.

You’r free to disagree but this is my biggest issue with GW2.

+ All the waypoints.. It just makes the “world” feel so small and insignificant.

+ I would of loved to see some WELL made quests. Hard quests, with great rewards.

+ Another issue with MMO’s in general is all the information is available. I miss the times when you had to figure stuff out yourself. I picked up TSW for 15 bucks, and I do my hardest not to google for guides. It’s such a refreshing feel to do quests that you actually have to think where or what to do next. But when you have to know the bible in some cases you kind of have to google for some help. Heck, theres even an ingame browser because of this:P

for me, its the renown hearts. I like it that they tried to get rid of the traditional quests with these, but honestly, i would take well made quests over renown hearts any day.

They are just…boring, they have no context, you just get to an area and “oh im supposed to do this”, but without any quest log or initial quest giver, you have no idea why you are doing what you are doing (unless you go to the renown heart person, but its pretty vague and shallow compared to lets just say quest givers in WoW).

I just like quests that have stories in them that i can read and participate in.
The Personal Story is also not nearly enough to satisfy my need for story-based quests.

Everything about the story thus far both pre and post living story. I just don’t understand what happened.

The melee combat as a whole bothers me, floaty, automatic, and simply doesn’t feel like I’m bringing down the thunderous weight of a greatsword when wielding one. On top of that, the amount of thoughtless cleaving that happens, the fact that auto attacks make up the majority of your melee dps in a game that totes “Action Combat,” it all bothers me greatly.

If I had never played Guild Wars, I think I might have appreciated the simplicity of some of the mechanics, but I did, a little more than I might like to admit. The simple difference in required APM to function in both games is drastic, especially when you consider that the original Guild Wars had a dedicated “DO IT” button, EXPLAIN THAT!

The game has 4 too many races, which lead to kittenty armor selection. The other races imo adds nothing significant to the game except more work and less armor choices for humans.

should have stuck to 1 race like gw1.

This multiple races lead to a blander story than gw1 and gw1 was already bland and generic.

2 main things:

-The nerf everything attitude, its just sad…
-Blandness of the loot across GW2 and how there’s a disconnect with the devs and players over rewarding loot.

Buffing everything is only going to lead to power creep, which is signficantly worst than nerfing. Especially since a form of PvP is linked to PvE.

Currently there are just two things really going on my nerves:

1. No stat swapping on ascended items.

For 1 I’m hoping for a system to unlock stat combos on each item individually and for 2 I’d like to be able to use fully unlocked ascended items as precursors.

everything that makes GW so good is nowhere to be found in GW2, nothing.
also, nothing about this world makes me want to RP anytime soon, it’s so disconnected that it feels like i am playing a rushed game rather then adventuring trough a lustful world.
really, after more then a year it still feels like it’s in beta, nothing excites me at all nor is there really much to get excited for.
the LS is filled with plain grind, the PS is way to “grind more levels”, renown hearts are a poor excuse for quest replacers and the battle system is so out of place it makes me wonder what 3 year old made this.

i have put allot of time, energy and money in the original GW and it’s worth every penny, the only thing i like about the CE of GW2 is the statue, the game just isn’t worth much.

Hmm…

I don’t like that the Personal Story, including really cool parts of it like the Orders and personality based choices, are basically ignored in virtually every other aspect of the game (and are even ignored in the PS itself once you progress past level 50).

I don’t like the direction the game appears to be going in where it’s ending up like every other MMO out there (focused on “hardcore” repeatable group focused content and a progression based on hard/long to acquire gear).

I don’t like that crafting is forced onto players as the main thrust of progression given all of the other activities that are in the game.

I also don’t like that the CDI is less about the developers interacting/conversing with the players and more about generic developer sponsored suggestion topics.

1. A deficient itemisation system that limits the extent to which you can create builds.

2. Not enough unique skills. In GW we had hexes that had very specific functions and also protection spells as well. GW2 feels like every other skill is just another form of damage and more damage.

3. Removal of trinity feels more like a step back. In my opinion, they ought to have went forward and made every class capable of roles switching on the fly like swapping attunements. Fights can be made much harder requiring co-ordinated damage burst, mass healing bunkering to recover from big attacks.

Well, there’s a couple things that “bring me down” about this game, one that I think is an entirely reasonable criticism and one that I know is something that Arena.net really can’t do anything about.

I won’t lie, I do NOT like the “open world raid bosses” as a general rule. They just don’t work the way Arena.net thinks they do. You simply cannot create content that requires 80+ people to know what they are doing, and then throw it into the open world and expect anything other than a mass of frustration and anger.

IT’S NOT WORKING. I know you guys over there have an allergic reaction to instanced group content, but you NEED to do it if you want to have challenging, large scale content. Period.

Ironically, that kinda ties to the second problem that they really can’t do anything about. It kinda drags me down that Arena.net HAS to do that sort of thing like instance large-scale challenging content… because they’ve already had to compromise much of what they wanted to do because players simply rejected it. The masses want a traditional MMO experience. They want a trinity, they want boxed expansions, they want endgame instances and gear grind… and ever so slowly, Arena.net has had to cater to that.

I wish they wouldn’t. I wish they could say, “No. Even if we lose half our player base, this is our line in the sand. You’ve forced us to give enough already. Take it or leave it.” But I know they can’t… because that glut of content locusts are the people they absolutely have to retain.

The fact that end game is the cash shop.

It is literally not worth doing anything in game, because the activities are SO unrewarding, that your frustration will eventually force you into the cash shop (if not out of the game entirely). It is literally worth your time and sanity to drop some cash and BUY what you want.

We’ve all read about the people who’ve played for thousands of hours without a precursor drop or an ascended drop. I’ve played around 700 hours without a single EXOTIC drop. And if you’re one of the few fortunate people that actually get an ascended drop, good luck getting the stat combinations you want because the boxes are a gigantic gamble as well.

Maybe if it’d be a little different if the game world was this amazing experience. Too bad it’s not. Dungeons are a joke, renowned hearts are just traditional quests disguised by the fact that they have NO story behind them. I guess people think it’s revolutionary and enjoy it, but I don’t. I’ve leveled several alts in WoW and I STILL enjoy leveling because I love the quests and lore. A zone gets an actual overarching story as well as several sub stories. And you know what? I can take several different paths while leveling so I don’t have to do the same ones all the time.

And dynamic events? Dead. World bosses? I have better things to do than sit around in a zone for an hour+ to avoid the dreaded overflow, only to have a very high chance of failure anyway.

Personal story? Terrible, with some of the worst voice acting I’ve ever experienced. I can’t believe I bought into the hype over this game.

I love that your goto is that I’m complaining about the game to fit my needs when its about fixing it to attract new players.

You’ve got a story line thats not easily replayed, so new players are out of the loop.
You’ve got world bosses overscaling like covington, maw, and golem
You’ve got end game fotm that are still under-rewarding and no additional uses to relics
You’ve got an spvp design that hasn’t changed in 1.5 years, no new mechanics, just domination only
You’ve got a wvw design that caters to zerging only
You’ve got maps that are too big for the content it has
You’ve got champ trains and TP flipping and arah spot selling that makes better gold count than people who play the harder content (the harder content being lacking as the same time)
You’ve got large hits/misses in the Extrinsic/Intrinsic values in the game

What brings you down about gw2?

The problem is the game needs to help new players succeed, if a new player comes in and feels overwhelmed, like the excessive gold count required in the game now to play, they’re turn off and you’ve lost a future gemstore user

Then you got people asking for hardcore content but are getting these poorly designed 100+ teq/wurm updates that can be countered/trolled by a small amount of people/pugs

You also have DPS checks, where you have to abuse pet summon items and ele weapons.

One easy fix is to reward gameplay and NOT make cosmetic progressions linked to gold

What brings me down about GW2?

  • The forums. People looking to nit-pick every single thing about it. Noted that there are definite issues with it, but searching for people’s responses on what they think is wrong is no guaranteed way to get the dev’s to fix it. Having said that…
  • CPU usage and lack of multi processor core usage. AMD could use more hyperthreading, but in saying that the engine could use a lot more optimisation like going from DX9 to DX11 and making more use of the vid card’s capabilities instead of being so processor reliant.
  • The relentless nerfing of everything including karma gain (you don’t know what you had till it’s gone), all professions (excluding warrior, go figure), the most ridiculous RNG I’ve seen anywhere ever and the introduction of Ascended gear which by default is pretty much useless, unless you actually have a use for it in higher level fractals where every little bit counts and that’s providing they don’t make any nerfs to the build that you’re running otherwise you’re left with useless and costly Ascended gear.

So if you want a bucket list of all the hottest topics on GW2’s shortcomings thus far, look no further than this thread. >_<

For me, the big downer is the lack of racial differences for engineers. Charr should have the current style, humans should have aetherblade style, norn should have steampunk/dredge style, sylvari should have bioengineering/nightmare court style, and asura should have magitech/inquest style. I do enjoy the game, but there are plenty of things about it that make me sad. In some cases it’s a slap in the face of this game’s origins. I doubt ArenaNet will read this because it’s just a reply and not it’s own thread, but here have at it. Below are the things that ‘bring me down’. I can go into details, but that would make my reply take up the entire thread.

Equipment skins: Look to GW1, ArenaNet.

Lack of nice guild capes, or any guild capes for that matter: Capes like the White Mantle from GW1 would be awesome.

Lack of skill variation: weapons skills 1-5 should be customizable

Limited time/temporary content and items: Just make the molten alliance pick and such a permanent addition to the game, already.

RNG: Luck is real, especially bad luck. RNG is cruel to the majority.

Zhaitan: I want to actually cut into an elder dragon. Look to the game play of Shadow of the Colossus for an example of what I mean. The turrets should have only been the first phase to shoot down Zhaitan. Phase two should have been “make kabobs out of it and end world hunger!”

Scarlet: Seriously. Just do yourself and the rest of us a favor and “Die die die, die die die, die die, die.”

No enemy/red dots on the mini map: I love that I can see my allies on the minimap in W3, but I hate that I can’t see my foes or a massive zerg on the minimap. Before you WoW players cry foul, it was a standard feature in GW1 (including PvP) that could not be turned off and it did not break the game. I want the OPTION.

The game engine: CPU bound is quite limiting. Utilize the GPU, too!

Falling damage while walking down a slope: I’m walking, I’m walking, and I’m dead.

No Move-to-Target It was a feature in the betas, and I know it is a feature in your in-house testing client. Bring it back, already. Again, before you WoW players cry foul, it was another standard feature in GW1 (and PvP) that could not be turned off and it did not break the game. I want the OPTION.

The bugs that still have not been fixed: I’m looking at you, greatsword skill 5 on the warrior, and Foulbear Chieftain event that is often bugged and will not progress.

How it’s too easy for gold sellers to use trial accounts to spam chat/mail I hope that future trial accounts are severely limited on the interactions they can do. If people want to play the game, then they can buy it like the rest of us.

Lack of actual health regereration like in GW1 as opposed to a heal over time like in this game and other MMOs. GW1’s mechanic of health regeneration/degeneration was a much more tangible mechanic and it worked so much better. Having 200 health tic each second is not the same as a health regeneration that heals you for 1 health 200 times a second. It’s much better.

Personal story taking a back seat: We never do hear back from the ones that recruited us into our respective orders.

Not being able to use the armors/weapons of the other orders even though we’re the commander of the pact: Seriously, players who chose to join the OoW should be allowed to use Priory/Vigil equipment after reaching a certain point in the personal story. We’re the commander of the entire pact, for goodness sake. I would even be okay with it being AFTER defeating Zhaitan. At least then we’d have a reason to go through that disappointment again.

I can go on, but I think this will do for now.

Give us more GW 1 weapon and armor skins, please. COPY/PASTE ALREADY!!!!

So if your talking about the next new thing most of the ppl compliance about GW2 will be greater compliance in though new games. If they are abandoning the game then they are going into something far worst and will come back in time.

The fact that ppl feel as if a promise was some how broken is just and over dramatization of them not getting every thing they want right now. Most ppl here on this thread are talking about getting items faster for less work as if that would mean they are better for having thoughts items. Same could be said for looks.

- Diminishing Returns (what a joke)
- Consistent lag on ANet’s side of the world, America refuses to provide good internet connections. (Level3, ALTERNet, both are ruining many gamers experience of GW2)

- Cheaters (hacks)
- Stockpiling limited time items to make a killing in a few months, market is broken.

I would however like to see them take some time and release a big update of nothing but quality of life features and things that were promised to be added “later”. Things like more guild features (halls, capes etc.), making lots of npc outfits available as town clothes, and finishing all those mini-games/activities that are already set up to be in game (I want polymock kitten!).

funny

I don’t think that word means what you think it does. : )

What do you think it means then exactly?

Sorry the post was meant as both a joke (Princess Bride paraphrase) and a comment that racism and threats of murder are not something that I consider funny.

Didn’t mean it as a jab at you. My apologies.

^^ Ah, Okie…
I’m really bad at understanding sarcasm. Unless it’s the super obvious ones like the blond jokes… lol

I think the term you may be looking for here is: profoundly disturbed, or schizophrenic, or sociopath.

Could be wrong though, just spit balling here.

If it was something I heard someone say in real life… Yes, It’s disturbed and that guy is most likely a sociopath or whatever…

But because it’s the internet… I think he is just being “funny”, another words, I think he is trolling to get a kick out of it. Why else would he bother? I spent money on a new account just to do this. He clearly doesn’t want to get banned from his real account.

I don’t know, that’s how I view people like that on the internet at least.

I agree that whomever is doing it is doing it for the “lulz”. I don’t find the “lulz” funny, just pathetic.

Though, I don’t like blonde jokes to be honest. _
I always found them weird.
