Q:
What class do you find most fun?
I personally love my Guardian because it just fits me. Support your teammates while dishing out some nice damage, and great in groups. But out of Mesmer and Engineer, I like Engineer better. I plan on making an Asura Engineer with colors based on Bomberman and going grenade pack for funsies.
personal choice: warrior PVE king profession.
for you: mesmer, engineers are kind of a taboo in PVE just like rangers and necros are so there.
Engineer in general more active, more button pressing, harder to learn (personal opinion). I do not play one regularly, this is what I gleaned from attempting to play one, so wait for more advice from a seasoned engineer.
Mesmer – a lot of utility, pretty visuals, a lot of build variety (can pretty much build for any role), not as much button pressing (varies between builds – in a shatter build you’ll be pressing buttons far more frequently for example).
Personal choice for me is Mesmer. Don’t really understand this PVE taboo thing, had no problem with it from the first level. Have never played an engie or warrior so my thoughts are not going to be the same as yours.
Guardian (surprisingly, I don’t usually like melee), flamethrowing, bomb dropping engineer and well necromancer.
Possibly not the most efficient builds but definitely fun for me.
Main? What “main”? I play all of them sooner or later.
In my opinion, out of the two, they both require some learning. Gotta spend time with either one to find out which play style works best. However, I like them both a lot.
Engineer is fun cause of the different weapons that can be equipped mid battle and change things up. Or throw down a turret or two to add an extra target and extra damage. In PvE, enemies will attack your turrets, adding some extra survivability. In WvW, the turrets get smashed, sometimes rather quickly, by AOEs. So they aren’t used as often, but if you can make it work out, then try it.
Mesmer can have a variety of play styles, from melee to ranged. Many offensive and defensive skills create or leave behind an illusion or clone. Creating a lot of confusion. You’ll have to learn how to control the illusions/clones for the best effect. But in general, a skilled mesmer is a very tough class to beat, in either PvE or PvP.
Both classes have a very good variety of conditions, and build types that allow for different play styles.
Meredy Izumi – 80 Human Elementalist [Aeon]
Alruane – 80 Sylvari Ranger [Aeon]
Necromancer. I honestly find the necromancer to be most fun which is why I keep coming back to it
Mesmer and Engineer are my two mains and the most fun classes of all imo.
Both have really unique mechanics and I use both in PvE. they are both tricky to play well and have very different play styles.
Just try them you will see
I enjoy ele personally, followed by d/d necro.
As an ele, I simply enjoy the versatility. I can be fire 1 moment, and raining down flames, and water the next, offering the idiot in front a small heal to keep him on his feet, or I can swap to earth to immobilize the foe and beat it the heck out of dodge with air.
As necro, lol I can’t really say. I just like it. XD I like the animations, I like my minions (even if I can;t be a ‘true’ MM anymore), and I like listening to her talk. lol
I played a mesmer in GW1, and I made a mesmer in GW2, but I can’t play her much. They really aren’t anything alike, and I find the nostalgia for the old control role makes me swap to something else.
I’ve played an Elementalist, Warrior and Thief to 80 and I don’t like any of them all that much. I started a Ranger and realized it was the perfect class for me. I love it. They’re all very different.
I played all the professions in GW. My favorites from it; Ranger, Necro, and Mesmer, are nothing like they were in GW. I guess Ranger is the closest to what it was so it would probably be my favorite. Guardian is nice but reminds me of Paladin from WoW too much. Thief is ok but I preferred the Assassin mechanics of being able to jump in and out of the fight and the skill chains I could come up with, not ones that were determined for me.
I took my Necro into WvW to get some fast karma, now I am addicted like when I was back at launch.Turning from a two foot tall cute pink haired Asura,to a 20 foot Lich in the middle of an enemy zerg is so much fun.And if everyone has followed me in,9 times out of 10 the enemy zerg breaks and flees. It has happened too many times now for it just to be luck.
And to know that I helped turn the tide is more rewarding than all the loot bags at my feet.
