Ok I know that thiefs can use the shortbow to get longer invisibilty but thats it.
Who is even using shortbow for anything else? Shortbow is pretty weak and people making the legendary shortbow just do it for the looks. Is there any metabuild that requires shortbow? I almost never see a ranger using a shortbow. Besides the fact that you still cant choose viper stats for legendaries.

There are no meta builds that use sb as a main weapon, it’s a fairly weak condi weapon for a ranger and a thief only uses it for mobility..
They are the only two classes that can even use it.

Oh yes, awesome idea. Let us have only legendaries of weapons which are used in meta builds. Do you even imagine how many awesome skins and players we would miss by that. And the metas change over time. What works today can be useless at the next patch.

Besides, many players play not meta. They are good players and nice people. Shall they have no legendaries for their favourite weapons?

Shortbow still is a good option so far. It is an offensive weapon with 5 skills, which could even work as a back-cover. Imagine if they started the canceled legendary set with the underwater-weapons. It could be a lot worse than a shortbow.

On a positive spin tho- Maybe the OP is one of those " Legendary Hunters"- and collects Legendaries as part of his/her play style

so can we be a Hunter from a ranger instead of a druid since some people do not like Heals and stuffs and prefer using Longbow Short bow combo?

While I definitely acknowledge that the number of classes that can use this tentatively final legendary is less than desired, I don’t think it would be too much to ask for more of a rework of the ranger SB in particular.

Yes, I am aware that the numbers were adjusted in the spring patch, but I feel that a rework of the SB might be in order since, lets be honest, the LB has the ranged Power damage kingdom in Ranger land.

You guys (forum community in general) are funny. First you say that you can beat the game naked with starter weapons. Then you complain about a shortbow as a weapon/legendary choice. Really?

why would I be talking about old legendary longbow? maybe learn to use some imagination?

Shortbow is used on basically every pvp related thief build for its utility and mobility. Ranger it’s pretty bad still though.

The main issue with them coming out with only a shortbow isn’t that only two professions can use it, but that The Dreamer is so amazingly perfect the new bow can’t compete with it.

Beside during serious pve, thief will literally always have it as their secondary set. It’s niche for Rangers, but for Thief it’s pretty core to the class in a majority of the game, even if it’s not a dps weaponset.

Short bow used to be the go to weapon for a Ranger, because it was pretty much the only ranger weapon that didn’t suck. And no one used the longbow because it was so terrible.

In response Anet kept nerfing the short bow, until it (and rangers) were the official joke class of GW2.

Finally after a couple of years, they buffed the long bow and rangers stopped being the last kid to be picked for a team. But they never undid all the short bow nerfs, and it’s one of the least used weapons now.

My condition ranger is using SB and Staff, its pretty good in PvE, but well i don’t care about the rest of the content so its meaningless if its good or bad in that.

Funny thing is i don’t even like the new Legendary SB too red and wormy..

I’m pretty sure the Short bow was at the top of the list because so many customers hated the Dreamer with a passion…

Seriously my little pony bow was a really huge mistake, like it or not most legendaries in this game are down right joke weapons..

Who ever created them really never thought it through well enough, as they were suppose to be the end gear tiers but they are just hated by a large chunk of the community…

Axe/Torch, Shortbow is your weapon choice for highest DPS on both ranger and druid after the Spring Patch

That’s what I’m using right now. Works quite nicely for me.

I use a shortbow on my ranger and, on occasion, thief. The shortbow is good backup in pvp if used correctly. L’ve been pecked to death by it more than once when low on healing and health.

I find the lack of range too restricting compared to longbow. 900 range becomes ~1.27 * 10^6 area in front. 1500 range becomes 3.53 * 10^6 area, which is 178% more. This is a huge deal for catching opponents and staying safe.
